Chapter 58 She Embraced the Sun

Chapter 58 She Embraced the Sun

Once home, Xia Zhen went into her room under the pretext of taking a nap. She locked the door and then eagerly opened the game, clicking to use the time capsule.

However, in the blink of an eye, when she opened her eyes, the surrounding environment had already changed.

This is behind a teaching building. In the warm season, the rose bushes are in full bloom, and a slight noise came from behind the low-lying bushes.

Xia Zhen slowly walked towards the direction from which the noise came. She was wondering if there was a small animal there when she saw a boy.

The white-haired boy, sitting in a wheelchair, tried his best to hide himself from others. When he noticed someone outside the flower bushes, he looked up and saw the girl's reflection in his light-colored eyes. Because of his panic, his watery eyes showed surprise and fear.

The misty rain clinging to the corners of his eyes, threatening to fall but not quite, gave one the impression that he was pure and innocent.

It looks like Bambi.

She had never seen him look so pitiful before, and her bright eyes widened with excitement.

At this moment, as they gaze at each other, the vibrant rose color becomes, for a fleeting instant, an insignificant backdrop.

The boy slowly clenched the hem of his clothes. The next second, he avoided the girl's burning and passionate gaze, stubbornly lowering his head to prevent himself from shedding tears and becoming a laughingstock.

Xia Zhen knew that the child was probably wary of people again. She walked through the flower bushes and easily reached his side. She squatted down in front of him, looked up, and smiled, "What are you doing here?"

The boy pursed his lips tightly and ignored her.

There was a faint fragrance of flowers, but it wasn't strong. A strange scent emanating from the boy was still carried over by the wind.

Xia Zhen suddenly remembered what Lu Ci had said before.

The boy probably realized what the girl's silence meant.

The annoying wind didn't stop, blowing her beautiful skirt, and even the ribbon on her braid moved gently with her black hair.

In this flowerbed, she was practically an unexpected surprise.

In the presence of beautiful things, one's own inadequacies are only exposed more thoroughly.

The boy awkwardly pushed his wheelchair away, but suddenly the girl stood up, bent down, and hugged him.

His body was stiff and he couldn't move.

Xia Zhen stroked his soft head, her heart softening with tenderness. She smiled gently, "I've finally seen you like this."

He didn't understand why there was a hint of delight in her tone. Was her nose damaged?

Doesn't she...doesn't she feel dirty?

Xia Zhen loosened her grip on him slightly, then lowered her head and looked him up and down.

The boy was stunned by her embrace and hadn't come to his senses yet. He didn't dare to breathe and felt nervous under the girl's scrutinizing gaze.

Xia Zhen suddenly laughed again, "You said I wouldn't like you as you are now, but I think I like you just the way you are now."

The word "like" made his body tremble slightly.

The boy was like a frightened deer in the forest, his watery eyes clear and pure. He stared at her, his hands gripping the hem of his clothes tightly.

Xia Zhen smiled and poked his cheek with her finger. "Say what you want to say, don't keep it to yourself."

The boy blinked, the misty droplets clinging to his long eyelashes trembling slightly, and his voice held an unconcealed sob, "Are you a fairy?"

Xia Zhen's expression changed, and she said fiercely, "What demon! You should call me a fairy!"

He stared at her without saying a word, as if he had been stunned by her shout.

Xia Zhen realized she might have been too harsh. No, she couldn't leave the child with psychological trauma. She put on a gentle, beautiful smile again and said in a kind voice, "Why do you call me a fairy?"

He continued to stare at her silently, his eyes unblinking, which gave Xia Zhen the illusion that she had become some kind of rare animal.

Oh well, they're just kids; their ideas are always wildly imaginative.

She reached for his hand again, but he dodged it. She asked, "What's wrong?"

"I'm dirty."

Xia Zhen found those two words particularly grating, and she tried hard to suppress the anger surging within her. "You're not dirty! I'll teach anyone who says you're dirty a lesson!"

The boy didn't understand why anyone would be angry because of him. He had never experienced this feeling before. It was a strange, indescribable feeling that he didn't dislike but made him feel uneasy.

This made him even more hesitant to approach this girl who seemed to have suddenly barged into his world.

He wanted to back away in fear, but she didn't give him the chance.

"Lu Jin."

He heard her calling his name.

She said, "You should never say things that belittle yourself. You have no idea how good you are."

He slowly raised his pale face, his eyes glistening with tears.

She laughed, "Didn't you say I'm a fairy? So I must know a lot of things that others don't know, and be able to do a lot of things that others can't do."

The boy looked at her without saying a word.

Xia Zhen cleared her throat and said in a serious tone, "Do you believe I can catch the sun?"

He finally reacted, but shook his head.

Xia Zhen said confidently, "If you don't believe me, I can show you."

He was still just a child, and when he heard her say that, a hint of expectation and curiosity appeared in his eyes.

Xia Zhen spread her arms wide in an exaggerated gesture, as if embracing the wind, or perhaps the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves. She grinned, "Watch closely—"

The next instant, she bent down and hugged him tightly.

The girl's voice floated in his ears, "I am now embracing the most brilliant sun."

The boy stared blankly, forgetting to react.

Xia Zhen softened her voice and said slowly, "Lu Jin, believe me, all the misfortunes you are experiencing now are temporary. I will make you the happiest person in the world in the future."

Warm liquid dripped down his face.

After a long while, his eyelashes trembled slightly, and he realized that he was crying.

Xia Zhen cupped his face in her hands. On the boy's fair and jade-like face, the tear stains were like a fragile embellishment. She wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes, smiled, and gently kissed the tip of his nose. "You are so cute."

In his memory, no one had ever acted so intimately towards him, especially considering his unpleasant odor.
