Chapter 3 The Power of Wild Game

"Wow, this fish looks really fat!" Liu Dashan made no attempt to hide his greedy gaze. Qin Heming immediately stepped in front of Liu Dashan warily, saying, "This is our fish!"

"Get out of my way!"

Just as Liu Dashan was about to make a move, he didn't know that Mo Qianshang had pulled Heming away at some point. Liu Dashan tripped and lost his balance, splashing into the pot of hot water. He let out a loud scream as he was scalded, and a large red blister appeared on his hand.

"You filthy old hag, how dare you scheme against me?!" Liu Dashan was about to get up when Mo Qianshang kicked him to the ground.

"We didn't hold it against you for stealing our things last time, do you really think we're scared?"

"You were already a tyrant in the village, and now that there's a disaster and everyone's fleeing together, it's a time for unity, and you're still thinking about becoming a bandit?" Mo Qianshang's voice instantly drew everyone's attention. "A person like you only cares about yourself. How can anyone trust you to travel with us in the future? You should be kicked out of the group and starve to death!"

Liu Dashan was known for his tyranny, and no one had bothered him before because everyone felt they couldn't defeat him and didn't want to provoke him for fear of getting into trouble. Now that someone had taken action to punish him, memories of past humiliations flooded back, coupled with resentment from not having enough to eat while fleeing famine, which provoked the crowd to join in, punching and kicking Liu Dashan.

"Damn Liu Dashan, he's robbing someone again! This time he's been caught red-handed. Let's see how he tries to deny it now!"

Let's all teach him a lesson!

Dozens of fists rained down on him at once. No matter how strong Liu Dashan was, he couldn't withstand it, and his face was quickly beaten into a pig's head.

Liu Dashan tried to resist, but Mo Qianshang grabbed his hand that was slapping him and, with a clever move, knocked him to the ground. She then dragged him to the village chief, saying, "Village chief, you have to give us an explanation for this!"

"Village chief, there's a disaster going on outside right now. You can't send me away. How will I survive if I leave?" Seeing this, Liu Dashan immediately changed his mind and knelt on the ground, kowtowing to the village chief repeatedly.

"Well... how about we just let it go and not do it again?" The village chief was good at smoothing things over, but he was the worst at handling this kind of situation.

Seeing this, Mo Qianshang said, "Even if you don't leave, you have to return the things, otherwise how can you quell public anger?"

Liu Dashan glared fiercely at Mo Qianshang, knowing that if he didn't hand over the goods, he would definitely be kicked out. While he hesitated, someone had already torn her bundle off Liu Dashan's body and found that there were five catties of millet, seven catties of buckwheat, a few copper coins and ten wild eggs inside.

"Great! You have so much of your own but you're eyeing what others have. You're eating from your own bowl while eyeing what's in the pot! Village chief, let's divide it all up!"

As everyone talked, they stepped forward one after another. Mo Qianshang also took out half a catty of millet, a catty of buckwheat, a dozen copper coins, and an egg. Together, they took out more than what had been stolen from them before.

Liu Dashan stared blankly at his empty package.

"Since Liu Dashan is sincere in repenting, we can't deny him a chance."

“There’s a famine right now, so everyone has to stick together. Liu Dashan is still with us, but given their past misdeeds, if anyone in the group has their belongings stolen or robbed, it will all be blamed on Liu Dashan.” Mo Qianshang said, her eyes flashing coldly at him.

The people in this village don't all share the same surname. Although they're currently working together, it's hard to say what will happen in the long run. Liu Dashan likes to steal things, so he's become the one who sticks out and makes an example of others in the village to warn them to think twice. In order to avoid being wrongly accused or kicked out, Liu Dashan will also "protect" everyone.

Mo Qianshang had already considered it. Anyway, she had the exchange mall, and she and her four children wouldn't go hungry. For now, she would try to unite them if possible, and if not, they would break up.

Liu Dashan was still injured and unable to resist. He glared at Mo Qianshang resentfully, then limped away, saying, "Once I'm healed, the first thing I'll do is teach this bitch a lesson!"

Remembering Liu Dashan's reaction, Mo Qianshang took her things and led the four children back to the corner.

"Mom, you're amazing!" Qin Heming, who had previously doubted whether Mo Qianshang could get the things back, was completely convinced. Meanwhile, Qin Zixuan was drooling over the wild egg.

These are eggs!

Even when there are no disasters, there are few opportunities to eat good food!

【bite--】

Wild eggs, 2 coins each, are they for sale?

Wait a minute, Mo Qianshang suddenly realized that the feed eggs in the mall only cost one coin each.

So wild eggs are of a higher quality?

Is this the power of wild game?

Thinking it over, Mo Qianshang secretly sold the wild eggs while the four children weren't looking and bought two farmed eggs in return. Since the nutritional value and taste were about the same, the children could eat a little more.

Two eggs were cracked into a pot and scrambled. Then, while they weren't looking, Mo Qianshang bought some salt from the mall.

Salt is essential for survival. Without salt in the body, the legs will become weak. These refugees, who walk an unknown distance every day, must replenish their salt at any time.

The fish was placed on the fire. Although the small fish was thin, it was a rare treat of meat under these conditions.

Four children squatted beside the grilled fish, staring intently at it. The aroma of the fish gradually wafted out. Mo Qianshang handed the fish to Qin Yuya. The little girl's eyes lit up. She puffed out her cheeks, blew on the fish twice, and then picked it up and started to eat it.

"Mommy, fish, fish, it smells so good~" Qin Yuya raised her little face with a bright smile.

Mo Qianshang pinched the little girl's nose and noticed that behind her, a boy of about twelve or thirteen years old was staring intently at the grilled fish in the little girl's hand.

Mo Qianchang was taken aback. She searched her memory for a while before recognizing the boy as Liu Shouyi. Most of the children in the village were precocious. By the age of twelve or thirteen, they were either attending private schools or already working in the fields. But Liu Shouyi was a lazy good-for-nothing. He was idle and uneducated all day long, and he caused all sorts of trouble in the village. He was the village's undisputed troublemaker.

Liu Shouyi was raised by his grandmother alone. His parents died early, and the old lady doted on her eldest grandson.

Now the fields are abandoned, the old lady can no longer work, and the boy who used to enjoy a life of luxury at home and have become visibly thinner, yet he still shows no remorse.

Mo Qianshang raised an eyebrow, initially intending to ignore it, but then she heard Liu Shouyi whisper beside Qin Yuya, "Little girl, can I have a bite of this fish?"
