Chapter 47 Cut off from water and food

However, there are always curious people. Before Mo Qianshang had even finished distributing the water, someone was already staring at her with a worried look on their face, holding a bamboo tube and asking her questions.

“Young Lady Mo, you’ve been down there for at least half the night. It must have been very dangerous. Even if you’re a woman with excellent martial arts skills, it would be easier if someone helped you. Why didn’t you call us?”

The man asked the question indirectly, seemingly worried that something might happen to Mo Qianshang, but the undisguised curiosity in his narrow eyes betrayed him completely.

But what this person said wasn't wrong either. Mo Qianshang had stayed in the bamboo forest on the cliff for far too long, and there had to be a reasonable explanation for it.

Otherwise, if someone gets curious and goes down there to disturb the young girl's recuperation, that would be even worse.

Judging from Mo Qianshang's numerous injuries, the little girl's body will need at least five more days before she can slowly get out of bed. Moreover, her head is the most severely injured part, and she should not be subjected to any major stimulation during her recovery period.

Even Mo Qianshang himself, on the note he left for the little girl, wrote down her identity for the first time in great detail, and also briefly described the current situation of the people in Fushou Village.

Of course, she brought up the villagers on purpose.

The purpose was to see if the injury on the little girl's head affected her memory, and to verify whether her guesses about the people around the little girl were correct.

Thinking too far ahead, the villagers, seeing that Mo Qianshang didn't answer for a long time, assumed that she had encountered something dangerous on the cliff, and quickly waved to her to comfort her.

"Well, Miss Mo, if the situation below makes you uncomfortable or frightened, you don't have to tell us."

"That's right, if we drink this water sparingly, it should last until we get out of this barren mountain..." The villager's voice trailed off as he spoke, clearly lacking confidence.

It wasn't that he was being hypocritical; it was only as dawn broke that he realized how difficult it was to fulfill his promise.

They were now at a high vantage point, and all they could see was desolation. There were only a few patches of lush green bushes and even fewer bamboo groves, and no wild fruits or similar plants in sight.

It's like being cut off from both water and food!

Mo Qianshang quickly realized this as well, and her gaze involuntarily fell on the rattan still tied around her waist.

If she remembered correctly, when she was on a mission and essentially surviving in the wilderness, she seemed to have eaten some kind of vine to prolong her life.

But the taste was indescribable.

They currently have no other food and don't know how to get out of this desolate mountain, so they can only keep some other food on hand just in case.

I'd rather suffer for my mouth than starve to death.

When the others noticed that Mo Qianshang remained calm, they all turned their gazes to her, looking at her with hopeful eyes and flattering tones.

"Young Lady Mo, do you have any good ideas to get us out of here? To be honest, we grown men are really no match for a woman like you. We feel ashamed!"

Their words placed them in the same position as Mo Qianshang, leaving Mo Qianshang somewhat at a loss for words. She could only nod slightly and lead them to a place with more vines, explaining as she went.

"Here's the thing, when we were collecting rattan earlier, I found a type of rattan that I used to eat when I was a child. It doesn't taste good, but it won't cause any problems. Since we're already here, we can just pick it and take it back, then ask the village chief to distribute it to each household, just in case."

"This..." The person who had asked the question immediately frowned, but fearing that Mo Qianshang would see it, he quickly covered his face with his hand and secretly pouted.

They had relied on Mo Qianshang for too long and naturally regarded her as an omnipotent goddess.

If Mo Qianshang had a good grasp of the surrounding terrain and other conditions, it would only be a matter of time before she could lead them out.

But we don't know anything yet. How can we possibly find the way out so quickly by just glancing around?

She gave the man a cold glance and then ignored him. Once she reached the bushes, she squatted down to identify the edible vines.

After searching through several clumps of bushes, Mo Qianshang finally found the one she was looking for. With a flash of silver light, a large vine was cut off, and she picked it up to show everyone.

"Look closely, everyone. The leaves are generally oval with a slight point, and both sides are very smooth. The stem is a bit flat when you pinch it, and there are some twisted parts occasionally. This is the chicken dung vine we are looking for."

Upon hearing the name, everyone's expressions visibly froze. For the first time, Liu Zhuzi laughed out loud in a rather unkind manner, saying in a simple and honest way, "Chicken shit, hahaha, chicken shit!"

He laughed loudly and heartily, while the faces of the others around him were a mixture of ashen and pale.

"Young Lady Mo, my wife encountered this on the road once. She tripped and fell right on a patch of chicken manure vines, and she smelled like chicken manure all over her! Are we... really going to eat this?"

Someone asked a question, and others eagerly cast inquiring and expectant glances at Mo Qianshang.

Unfortunately, Mo Qianshang was destined to disappoint them this time.

“That’s right. Of course, if you’re sure you have enough food, you don’t have to go through with the harvesting. I won’t force you. Just don’t try to argue with me then.”

After saying that, Mo Qianshang ignored them and her small knife danced like a firefly, flashing silver light continuously. Soon, a large section of the chicken droppings vine was cut off.

Despite their reluctance, the group glanced once more at the desolate mountain where there seemed to be no way out, and could only reluctantly bury themselves in the bitter harvest.

Fortunately, Mo Qianshang was a kind person. Seeing that they were tired, she gave each of them two bamboo sections of water, which made them feel a little better.

After tying up the chicken droppings vines, they were about to head back when Mo Qianshang calmly stood still and pointed out the way to them.

“Turn right onto this road and you’ll enter a side path. There are marks I’ve made with my knife all around; just follow them. I’ll look around some more to see if I can find any more food and water.”

The first part of the sentence made everyone a little uneasy, but as soon as they heard that Mo Qianshang was looking for food, their resistance vanished instantly, and they all waved goodbye happily.

"Alright, we'll listen to you and go back first. But Miss Mo, you must be careful. If you're not back before dark, we'll come up the mountain to look for you!"

"Don't worry, I'll be back on time. If you have time, please tell the children at home so they can rest assured." After saying this, Mo Qianshang paused for a moment.

She used to be all alone when she went on missions, and she thought it would take some time before she could get used to the presence of several children.

I didn't expect to adapt so quickly!

Hopefully, while she's away, the children will behave well and listen to the woman in white, and won't cause any trouble...

After watching everyone leave, Mo Qianshang tied one end of the vine and found the route she had taken to descend the cliff earlier, leaping into the bamboo forest with practiced ease.

Unexpectedly, before she could even enter the cave, an unusual sound came from the top of the bamboo forest, sending a chill down her spine...
