Chapter 90 Dispelling Doubts

The people of Fushou Village were quickly gathered together. Liu Dafu and his men didn't hold back and searched the cave inside and out twice. The villagers were also forced to take out their belongings for inspection.

But these people only had valuables on them, some food, and maybe a few coins, which were completely different from what they had lost.

The situation immediately reached a stalemate.

Although they found nothing, they refused to leave, leaving many people near the cave to watch people coming in and out.

No matter how hard they racked their brains, they would never have imagined that those items had already been collected into the system by Mo Qianshang and exchanged for silver, but they were just a string of numbers existing in the system and had not been exchanged.

"If you ask me, it's definitely that stinky woman!"

A sharp sound drew everyone's attention, and Dong Jianshan hurriedly covered Dong Qiu's mouth, saying, "What nonsense are you talking about! What can a woman do!"

Dong Qiu angrily pulled away Dong Jianshan's hand. The more Dong Jianshan spoke up for Mo Qianshang, the more she hated Mo Qianshang. If it weren't for her, how could her father have become like this?

Her father used to listen to her the most and love her the most!

The guards at the cave entrance dared not make a decision on their own, so they called Liu Dafu, who had gone back to rest, from the village. Soon, a group of people surrounded Mo Qianshang.

Dong Jianshan was startled and quickly came over to explain, "My child is talking nonsense. Don't listen to a child; she must have made a mistake!"

Dong Qiu screamed, "I didn't! She just didn't come back! She just didn't come back!"

Liu Dafu shoved Dong Jianshan to the ground and looked at Dong Qiu: "What do you know? Speak!"

Dong Qiu was startled, but she still held her head high, staring at Mo Qianshang with resentful eyes: "After giving you all that silver the day before yesterday, Mo Qianshang didn't come back to the cave with us! I didn't see her return until I went to sleep!"

She stared intently, hoping to see Mo Qianshang panic after being exposed, but to her surprise, Mo Qianshang remained calm after hearing what she said.

Actually, all she knew was that she hadn't come back with them, because along the way and after they returned, everyone was discussing how Mo Qianshang could come up with so much silver, and she was incredibly jealous.

The thought that she should have accepted her father and that all that money should have belonged to their family filled her with jealousy and anger.

She felt uncomfortable hearing others speak well of Mo Qianshang, so she went to bed early and didn't pay attention to it afterward.

But it's the same now!

As long as she can get involved with Mo Qianshang, she'll have satisfied Liu Dafu and the others. They'll see her as someone who has done them a favor, so asking for some money shouldn't be unreasonable! And all of Mo Qianshang's coarse grains and such will be hers too!

What are you talking about?

Mo Qianshang's words suddenly pulled her back to reality.

Mo Qianshang frowned, looking very angry: "I am a woman with four children to raise, unlike you who are just waiting for your father to feed you. You don't have to carry anything. People would think you are some kind of young lady from a wealthy family!"

Although Dong Jianshan was a hunter and very skilled at hunting, he listened to his daughter in everything. Everyone in the village knew this, and many people laughed at him behind his back, saying that he was not a man and did not act like the head of the household, letting a girl manage him.

That's why families with children around Dong Qiu's age don't consider her. They think that marrying someone who's restless and doesn't do any housework would only lead to criticism and gossip. What family could stand that?

The village is only so big, and Dong Qiu is well aware of what people are saying about her behind her back. This is her sore spot. Now, Mo Qianshang, whom she hates the most, has said it in front of the whole village. For a moment, she almost lost her mind and lunged at Mo Qianshang to attack her.

"You ungrateful slut! You promiscuous whore, I'll beat you to death!"

The unmarried girl's mouth was full of filth, and even the farmers, who were usually vulgar, couldn't stand it. Mo Qianshang even reached out and covered Qianya's ears, and just as she lunged at him, he kicked out with one leg.

With a sharp pain in her knee, Dong Qiu screamed in agony, her body swayed, and she fell to the side, unable to get up.

Dong Jianshan was startled and rushed over to check on her. Mo Qianshang didn't even glance at her, but looked at Liu Dafu. No matter what, she had to deal with these people, otherwise, even if it didn't fall on her head, this matter would never end.

“As you can see, she has always had a personal grudge against me, and she said those things clearly to frame me.”

To avoid continuing the conversation about what time she returned the other day, Mo Qianshang changed the subject: "I remember you said before that boxes of things were lost, and a lot of them, right? Could you tell me where you put all these things?"

Liu Dafu immediately became alert: "Why are you asking these questions?"

Mo Qianshang sighed helplessly, "Since you all suspect me, I have to find out what happened before I can defend myself. You can't just convict me without even asking, can you?"

Liu Dafu sat on a large rock: "Put them all together in a house in the village."

Mo Qianshang continued, "So you didn't lock it or have anyone watch it?"

"Of course it's locked, and we've been watching," Liu Dafu replied. She then asked in surprise, "If that's the case, the thief first needs to be able to enter your village, then they need to be able to take care of the guards, and then they need to be able to pick the lock. This lock must have been opened very loudly; didn't the guards get woken up?"

What puzzled Liu Dafu and his group was precisely this: the villager who was guarding the house slept soundly until dawn and did not notice anything, and the lock on the house containing the valuables was intact.

He also told Mo Qianshang about these circumstances.

Mo Qianshang was even more speechless: "This doesn't look like something an outsider would do, does it? Your people are sleeping so soundly, their food must have been drugged or something. The door lock was able to be opened perfectly, someone must have secretly made a copy of the key. This looks like a premeditated act, something we outsiders who just arrived couldn't have done."

Her words were logically clear, well-reasoned, and contained no sophistry; Liu Dafu was completely convinced.

So it's more likely that the villagers, or even more than one, planned this, organized the theft of the village's common property, and hid it somewhere else so they could secretly sell it for money once the heat died down.

The more Liu Dafu thought about it, the more convinced he became. His anger surged, and he suddenly stood up, left the cave, and took many people with him, leaving only two of his trusted men from the village to watch over the area.

Dong Qiu never expected that Liu Dafu, such a fierce person, would be talked away by Mo Qianshang with just a few words. Dong Jianshan was massaging her ankle, and she gritted her teeth, wishing she could bite a piece of flesh off Mo Qianshang!
