Chapter 22 Do you want to live a good life?

"Dog Egg's mother, your Dog Egg was a bandit before, he's stronger and smarter than us, did he say what to do with those guys in the Dark Prison?"

"That's right, those men are locked up all day and do nothing, and we still have to bring them food and drink to prevent them from starving or dying of disease. It's like we're still taking care of them!"

The two women chatted back and forth, which soon attracted the attention of the other women, who all nodded in agreement and then turned their gazes to Gou Dan's mother.

Although Gou Dan was chosen to become a bandit, if he hadn't been so humble and always put in a good word for these women and old folks, their lives would probably have been even more difficult.

Therefore, in addition to feeling grateful to Gou Dan, they also naturally felt a bit of awe towards him because of his somewhat bandit-like demeanor, and were waiting for Gou Dan to make a decision.

As for Mo Qianshang, she had long been forgotten. In the end, they were not very familiar with Mo Qianshang, and they would not seek her help immediately when they had problems.

Surrounded by people, Aunt Dog felt extremely tormented. If she could, she would rather her son had never been a bandit.

Her son hadn't mentioned it to her before, and she was unsure what to do, not knowing how to respond to these women.

Under the expectant gazes of everyone, Gou Dan's mother could only smile sheepishly and wave her hand apologetically.

“You’ve all overrated my Gou Danzi. How could he possibly have the ability to make decisions? Why don’t we go ask the new villagers in the village? Maybe they have some good ideas.”

Hearing what Gou Dan's mother said, some people nodded, while others shook their heads. Ultimately, they still didn't quite trust the people of Fushou Village and couldn't make up their minds.

Liu Dashan, who was not far from them, listened to their words and took in our reactions. He slowly raised his hand, pinched his chin and rubbed it, his narrow eyes full of evil calculation.

How could he forget?

The village wasn't just home to good-for-nothings like Liu Shouyi, who could be used by him; it also housed a group of vicious bandits!

If he makes good use of that group of people, he might be able to turn the tables and become the king of the mountain!

Even if all else fails, you can join those people as bandits in the mountains. You'll have no worries about food and drink, and plenty of women to serve you. Life will definitely be much more comfortable than fleeing famine...

Thinking this way, Liu Shouyi completely lost the desire to dig for wild vegetables. Once he had settled things with those people, he would definitely teach those big men in the village who treated him like a slave a lesson!

He was about to leave when he suddenly remembered that one of the women had mentioned Mo Qianshang's name, and he immediately spat out a mouthful of saliva in disgust.

Bah! That bitch is incredibly wicked. He can't just go to the Dark Prison so carelessly, lest that damned woman Mo Qianshang finds out!

So he chose to crouch down and hide, waiting until all the women had left before he got up, stretched his arms and legs, and quickly walked back to the mountain village via a secluded path.

"Liu Dashan!"

A sudden shout startled Liu Dashan so much that his legs went weak and he almost fell to the ground. When he saw that the person who came was Liu Shouyi, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief but was also quite displeased.

"What's wrong with you, kid? I'm your uncle, how can you call me by my full name like that?"

"What's wrong with calling your name? I'll hit you again!" Liu Shouyi said, giving Liu Dashan no chance to react. He picked up a stone from the ground and threw it at Liu Dashan.

As he smashed the object, he cursed under his breath, "It's all because of you, you troublemaking bastard, that I almost poisoned the old woman to death and got beaten up by her!"

"Do you know that I've never been hit by her since I was a child? She must be angry and disappointed in me to do this. If she were really gone, would you be the one to serve me every day?"

Thinking it was something serious, but it turned out to be just this. After understanding the situation, Liu Dashan launched a counterattack, and the two instantly became entangled in a fierce battle.

In the past, Liu Shouyi only bullied children in the village. But when Liu Dashan got serious, he had no chance of winning and was beaten to the ground, barely alive, in no time.

Not daring to cause a death, Liu Dashan kicked Liu Shouyi in the backside one last time, his panting voice full of disdain.

"With your skinny arms and legs, you dare to act arrogantly towards me? You weren't even born when I started fighting!"

Just after he finished cursing, Liu Dashan remembered the plan he had just decided on, his shrewd eyes darted around, and he kicked Liu Shouyi again.

"If you want a good life, get up now! What's the point of being taken care of by an old woman every day? As long as you keep listening to me, I can make sure you eat well and drink well every day, and even have beautiful women by your side!"

"Pah... Do you think I'd still believe you?" Liu Shouyi stubbornly turned his head away, but the hatred in his eyes had begun to gradually dissipate.

Liu Shouyi was not a person with strong convictions to begin with. In addition, she had suffered for too long on the road of fleeing famine. How could she not be tempted when she heard that she could live a better life?

Liu Dashan saw his reaction clearly, gave a mocking laugh, and pulled him up as if he were carrying something dirty, sitting him down to the side.

"You were the one who hit me first, so you have no right to blame me for being impolite. We're both grown men, why hold grudges?"

After saying this, Liu Dashan pretended to be kind and patted the dust off Liu Shouyi's clothes.

"Just one question for you: do you want to live a good life?"

Ultimately, good food and drink are more tempting. Although Liu Shouyi angrily slapped Liu Dashan's hand away, he still nodded heavily.

"That's more like it! Come closer, I want to tell you..."

Little did Gou Dan's mother know that their conversation had been overheard by others, and all she could think about at that moment was finding a solution from her son.

But she had only just hinted at it to Gou Dan when he waved his hand, telling his mother to rest assured and that he would go ask Mo Qianshang.

He was present throughout the entire process of the bandits being wiped out that day. Compared to Qin Baiyi's absolute suppression with force, Gou Dan felt that Mo Qianshang seemed to have greater wisdom.

They came up empty-handed. Qin Heming told Gou Dan that their mother had gone down the mountain to check the surrounding area and planned to continue their journey at a later time.

Living in a bandit's den is not a long-term solution.

To save time and out of habit, Mo Qianshang went down the mountain alone this time, wandering through the woods by herself.

But her usually accurate intuition told her that someone was definitely following her.

However, the other party didn't seem to have much hostility towards her, so she didn't bother with it and focused on doing her own thing.

Unfortunately, after circling around the area for a long time, she still couldn't find a suitable place to build a village and settle down. It seems that they really have to continue fleeing the famine...

With a helpless sigh, Mo Qianshang felt a little tired. Just then, she noticed that the wild fruit on the tree to her right looked very similar to apples. She took a few steps and nimbly climbed the tree.

After picking a bright red wild fruit and examining it closely, Mo Qianshang was almost certain.

What I'm holding is an apple!
