Chapter 1 Fleeing in panic

"Quick, catch it!"

"Quick, quick, stop it! Don't let it get away!"

The sweet potato was startled back to its senses by a deafening shout. Before it could even react, its feet had already acted before its head, and without thinking of anything else, it took off running.

"Bang!"

"Squeak!"

However, as soon as she lifted her foot, she felt her legs become uncontrollable, and she crashed headfirst into a tree in front of her, bounced back, rolled twice on the ground, and finally stopped.

The potato, who had stopped, was a little confused. Could it be that she couldn't walk anymore? Even the screams coming out of her mouth seemed to have turned into strange noises.

"You little beast, let's see where you run now."

"That's right, it's your honor that our junior sister has taken a liking to you, and you still dare to run away, you're simply ungrateful."

Before Shushu could figure out what was wrong with him, those noisy sounds came closer again.

Shushu looked up at the sound and saw a group of people dressed in ancient costumes, who were as tall as giants and holding all sorts of strange things, surrounding her.

By this point, even if Shushu was completely bewildered, he knew something was amiss.

She looked down at her body, and the first thing she saw was two short, furry paws, with an equally furry body underneath. She felt as if she had been struck by lightning.

How did she turn into a little hamster?!

"Senior brother, don't say that about it."

Just as Shushu was questioning his life, a soft and melodious voice came from across the way.

Startled awake by the sound, Shushu looked up and saw a beautiful young woman with bright eyes and white teeth, a graceful figure, and an ethereal white ancient costume standing there, talking coquettishly to the people around her.

Between words, she would glance at the sweet potato every now and then, a hint of greed in her eyes.

However, she probably didn't expect to see her at this moment. When their eyes met, the other person was taken aback for a moment, but quickly changed to a gentle expression and said to her, "Little one, don't be afraid, we won't hurt you."

If Shushu hadn't been absolutely certain that he hadn't misread the situation, he would have been completely fooled by the other party's disguise, which shows just how successful the disguise was.

Shushu couldn't help but feel wary of someone so skilled at disguising himself.

"Little one, I'm just worried that you might encounter danger alone in the Frostfire Mountains, and I want to bring you back to our sect. I have no intention of harming you. Will you come with me?"

The woman knew from the potato's reaction that it must have seen her look just now. Her eyes darkened, and she became even gentler, even her tone carrying a hint of coaxing.

While talking to attract Shushu's attention, she was also subtly approaching Shushu.

Shushu was already wary of her, so how could he not notice her subtle movements? As the girl gradually approached, he subconsciously felt that he couldn't let her catch him.

So, the little potato's eyes darted around, and just as she was about to get close, it swiftly stretched out its claws and slashed hard across the back of her fair hands. At the same time, its two hind paws kicked up a cloud of mud and sand, and amidst the gasps of the crowd, it seized a gap next to the woman's waist and darted away.

The shrew, having no clue what to do, could only randomly choose a direction and instinctively run away, covering its head and sprinting as fast as it could.

While running, he also had to dodge all sorts of things that came flying from behind. Watching fireballs, water arrows, tree branches, and dirt particles keep hitting him and flying past him, Shushu was astonished, but his movements became even more agile, relying entirely on his body's instincts to dodge.

Some missed, while others hit. The potato felt that its small body would be hit from time to time.

It was in a lot of pain, but it dared not stop for a moment. It could only endure the pain and use all its strength to run forward, trying to escape the group of people who were chasing it.

Spotting a very dense thicket of bushes not far away out of the corner of his eye, Shushu quickly darted into it without a second thought.

Her body was small and agile. Once she squeezed inside, those people couldn't accurately track her whereabouts without using their divine sense, which temporarily hindered their actions.

"You little beast, where do you think you're going? Wouldn't it be better to be our junior sister's spirit pet?"

"Yes, not just anyone can be Junior Sister's spirit pet."

"That's right, if it weren't for my junior sister liking you and insisting on capturing you alive, I would have killed you long ago."

However, cultivators have many methods, and the other side quickly reacted. A cultivator with wood-elemental spiritual energy used wood spiritual power to control the surrounding trees, trying to entangle the millet and sweet potato and trap it like a turtle in a jar.

After struggling to break free from the vines that had entangled it several times, the shrubs realized that they could no longer protect it. It was very anxious, knowing that with its small size, it would definitely be caught if it went out.

During her short escape, as she gradually regained her memories, she finally realized where she was: a world of cultivation filled with danger, yet also containing hidden opportunities.

Here, there are human cultivators, ghost cultivators, and all sorts of uniquely endowed spiritual beasts and plants that cultivate into humans, ascend to become immortals or gods.

In short, this is a fantasy world where cultivation relies on spiritual energy.

The small body she was wearing was one of the spirit beasts: a baby spirit mouse that had just been born.

Many people may not know the name "Spirit-Seeking Rat," but everyone will know its other name: Treasure-Seeking Rat, which is also the golden finger of the male and female protagonists in various fantasy novels.

But at this moment, Shushu was not happy about her identity as a treasure-hunting rat, because she knew that once she was caught by those people behind her, she would definitely not have a good ending.

Treasure-hunting rats are something everyone longs for and desires, especially the girl chasing after her. The greed in her eyes made Shushu realize that the girl recognized her.

Yes, the yam actually has a layer of camouflage, which is a natural skill of the treasure-hunting rat and a kind of protection given to these special groups by heaven.

But clearly, her disguise hadn't fooled the person behind her for some reason; the girl was obviously planning to capture her and make a contract with her.

If the other person were a good person, she could barely accept it, but the girl was clearly not, and she naturally couldn't let herself fall into the hands of such a person.

Entrusting her life to such a person, she felt that she would eventually be drained of her value and killed.

Thinking this, Shushu wanted even more to break free from her predicament and escape from these people, but unfortunately, the vines in front and behind her seemed to be controlled by them, and she couldn't find any way out for a while.

Just as the vine net controlled by the other party was about to ensnare her, she suddenly caught a glimpse of a rabbit hole under the net out of the corner of her eye, and her eyes lit up instantly.

Without even having time to check what was inside, he plunged headfirst into the rabbit hole.

The moment she entered the cave, vines wrapped around her from all directions, narrowly missing her, which startled Shushu so much that she broke out in a cold sweat.

However, she also knew that she was not out of danger yet; there were vines underground and rabbit holes with unknown risks.
