Chapter 465 They're all alive

The space fell silent for a second when the other person asked about Huaiyu.

However, Shushu didn't try to hide anything and immediately told him everything he knew.

As she spoke, she kept glancing at He Xin cautiously, worried that the other woman might lose her temper and lash out. She wasn't sure if she could withstand the other woman's anger or make a mistake.

Fortunately, He Xin was calmer than she had expected, and her emotions did not change significantly. She just clenched her fists as if she was enduring something.

It wasn't until he smelled a floral fragrance that Shushu followed the scent and saw that the other person's palms were scratched raw, with fingernails deeply embedded in the flesh.

Shushu was alarmed and couldn't help but ask softly, "Senior Hexin, are you... alright?"

The voice wasn't loud, but it successfully pulled He Xin back to reality, and she subconsciously replied, "It's okay."

Noticing the way Shushu was looking at her hands, she followed her gaze downwards and finally saw the marks on her palms. Her eyes narrowed.

She then sighed helplessly, thinking that after so many years of self-consolation, she should at least be able to face it calmly, but she didn't expect that she had overestimated herself.

He Xin gave a wry smile, ultimately unable to bear the younger generation's worry. With a wisp of immortal energy flowing through her, the wound on her palm immediately healed.

She paused, as if asking Shushu, or perhaps murmuring to herself, "So, all these years, everyone thought Hua Shi had perished, and no one had ever seen him?"

Although it was cruel, the millet still nodded truthfully under her expectant gaze.

As she nodded, the light in He Xin's eyes gradually faded, and the entire space fell into a deathly silence. No one spoke, because they didn't know what to say.

Under these circumstances, He Xin couldn't help but let her thoughts wander, constantly wondering whether Hua Shi was really dead or still alive.

Feeling uneasy, she had a sudden thought, and a bead she had placed in her soul appeared in her hand.

Carefully placing the bead, now shattered into a spiderweb, before her eyes, she expertly looked towards a corner, gazing at it quietly for a while. Finally, sensing the breath of life, He Xin breathed a sigh of relief.

This bead was actually a life bead that Hua Shi still condensed according to the ancient method. It was also a token of their love, and she also condensed one for him.

As long as the life bead exists, the person exists; if the life bead is broken, it means that the person has also perished.

When the life pearl in her hand suddenly shattered, and with news of Hua Shi's demise spreading everywhere, He Xin assumed that Hua Shi had truly perished.

This news was a huge blow to her, and she even contemplated suicide.

Later, Huaiyu used his clumsy acting skills to deceive her. Even though she knew it was a trap, she still chose to go to the appointment, to a death pact aimed at her. Little did she know that it was all Huaiyu's scheme.

It was only after being saved by the peach tree that she remembered the life pearl in her soul, and when she started cultivating again, she repeatedly placed the life pearl in front of her eyes.

It was through years of observation that she was able to discover the differences and confirm that Hua Shi was still alive.

Thinking of this, for the first time, He Xin did not just gaze quietly, but carefully recalled the technique used to condense the Life Bead, and began to try to inject her own soul threads into it, attempting to repair the Life Bead.

Unfortunately, the result was not as she wished. The life pearl was still shattered like a net, and her soul strands could not be integrated into it at all. How she went in, she came out in the same way.

Looking at the gray and lifeless life pearl, He Xin also felt a sense of powerlessness. She stared blankly into the distance, lost in thought.

Unbeknownst to her, the moment she infused the Soul Silk into the Life Pearl, a handsome man lying in the dark underground twitched his eyebrows.

The man who had imprisoned himself in the desolate place opened his eyes. With a thought, a life bead, also broken but lighter in color, appeared in his hand.

Then, under the man's tense gaze, the Life Bead miraculously emitted a bright light.

Immediately afterward, right under the handsome man's nose, the fine, dense spider web slowly, bit by bit, began to heal itself.

A full quarter of an hour later, the Life Pearl returned to its original smoothness, without a trace of spider silk.

Inside the Life Pearl, there was another tiny figure, exactly like He Xin, sleeping soundly with chubby cheeks and a slight upturn at the corners of its lips.

Upon seeing the familiar face, Hua Shi's pupils constricted sharply, his disbelief turning into shock, and finally into ecstatic joy.

Disregarding her image, she cupped the life pearl in both hands, placed it to her heart, and then could no longer control herself, bursting into laughter.

As he laughed, his eyes reddened, and his laughter turned into painful sobs, along with a faint whisper: "It's good to be alive, it's good to still be alive."

After a long while of commotion, which was a mix of crying and laughing, Hua Shi finally released all the emotions he had been suppressing for so long.

He glanced at the Life Bead again, gently stroked it, and carefully put it away again. As if he had made up his mind, his eyes began to sharpen.

He gazed deeply at the dense array of chains around him, chains he had used to trap himself and to sever ties with Huaiyu, that woman.

The next moment, a powerful force erupted from his body, and with a single exertion, the chains snapped one by one, turning to ashes and disappearing into the surroundings.

Soon, all the chains that bound him disappeared, and he regained his freedom.

Finally forgetting the endless desolation before him, he chose a direction and charged forward without hesitation.

At first there was nothing around, but gradually a door appeared in front of them.
