She reached out, about to grab a handful, when suddenly someone slapped her on the shoulder.
"Aunt Li, what are you doing here?"
Lin thought she had been caught stealing food by her master, and was suddenly startled. When she turned around, she found that it was Da Niu.
The guilt on her face suddenly turned into anger.
She snorted through her nose: "What business is it of yours what I'm doing here! I should be asking you what you're doing here. You're not thinking of sneaking a bite, are you?"
Hearing Lin's accusatory remarks, Da Niu wasn't angry; she simply smiled and stood in front of the fruit plate.
"Aunt Li, what are you saying? Everyone in our village is an honest person. How could anyone be so shameless as to steal our food? I came here on Aunt Liang's orders to keep an eye out for rats trying to steal our food."
In broad daylight, with so many people around, how could there possibly be rats?
Lin immediately understood that Da Niu was mocking her as a shameless rat.
She glared angrily at Da Niu: "How dare you insult me!"
Da Niu looked completely innocent: "Aunt Li, you've misunderstood. How could I possibly scold you? I was just talking about a mouse that steals food. You're not a mouse."
If Lin wanted to retaliate, she would have to admit to her act of stealing food.
With so many people around, she still has a sense of shame!
Lin could only leave angrily, walking over to her daughter, Li Cuilan, and cursing.
"Wan Shu is really stingy. She's made so much money, but she's so stingy with the fruits and snacks she eats. She even has someone watch over them, as if anyone wants to eat her food!"
