"I've been buying your sesame seed cakes for years, trusting your cooking skills, which is why I buy your braised food. But look what happened! This stuff is completely inedible!"
"Yes! What kind of garbage is this! It smells so awful! My man took a bite and immediately spat it out!"
"Give me my money back! We want our money back!"
"Give us our money back right now!"
Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin were completely dumbfounded when they saw the huge crowd demanding refunds.
They never expected that these people weren't lining up to buy their braised food, but rather to ask for a refund.
They saw how easily Wan Shu made money and thought that as long as they used the same methods as her to sell their goods, they would be fine. They never expected that these people would be so difficult to deal with and would even come to ask them for a refund!
Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin have always been stingy; once they've taken the money, they're never going to return it.
"Hey everyone, calm down. Whether our braised food is good or not, you've all eaten it!"
"They ate our food and are now asking for a refund? Isn't that just trying to dine and dash?!"
In the Great Sheng Dynasty, the yamen (government offices) were in charge of affairs.
If you dine and dash, you will be punished if you report it to the authorities.
Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin wanted to take advantage of this regulation to evade such a large refund.
However, the customers who came to get their money back had anticipated this, and they took out the braised food and crayfish they had bought yesterday and threw them at Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin's faces.
They were smashing things while cursing.
"Who the hell is trying to dine and dash! Try your own braised food, is this even edible?!"
"Even my dog wouldn't eat it, so who do you think would want your braised food!"
"The braised food has already been returned to you! Give me my money back now!"
Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin were hit on the head with braised food, and had no choice but to return the money to each of them one by one.
The customers who received their refunds murmured amongst themselves.
"As expected, not everyone can cook offal and crayfish well."
"If you ask me, the young lady next door is really something else. She can make pork offal and crayfish taste even better than meat!"
"Yes, she's the one with real skills. I initially thought she was charging too much, but now I realize that with that kind of craftsmanship, it's only fair that she charges a higher price!"
As they talked, they remembered the aroma of Wan Shu's braised food and could no longer resist their cravings. They used the money they had been refunded from Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin to buy some pork offal and crayfish from Wan Shu.
With comparisons to other products, they no longer cared about the price and bought everything with great enthusiasm, praising Wan Shu's craftsmanship.
And so, fortunes change.
Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin, who had been so smug and arrogant just moments before, now looked dejected.
Siyi, who had almost been disgusted to death by them, looked triumphant.
She imitated Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin's previous manner, putting her hands on her hips and looking smug.
"Hmph! Don't think that just any unscrupulous businessman can run a braised food business!"
This is returning to them exactly the words they used to insult Wan Shu.
"A little brat with a sharp tongue, be careful she won't be able to get married in the future!"
Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin turned green with anger and started cursing.
"A lousy braised food business, do they really think they're so great? We wouldn't even bother doing it!"
"Exactly! If you ask us, selling sesame seed cakes is much more practical. People will get tired of your braised food soon enough!"
Siya knew that Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin were deliberately belittling braised food out of jealousy, but she still couldn't help being angry.
"Those two have such foul mouths! They spew filth everywhere! Just thinking about having to set up a stall next to them every day makes my hands itch!"
Dae-joo and Sam-soon weren't very happy either.
Having such a neighbor is indeed a bit annoying.
"They're obviously petty people. It's one thing for them to say such hurtful things, but who knows what they might do to us in the future?"
Seeing that the three children's expressions were becoming more and more serious and their brows were furrowing more and more tightly, Wan Shu spoke up to comfort them.
"Okay, okay, don't think about it so much. Children who frown all the time will become ugly, besides..."
Wan Shu looked coldly at Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin: "They're here too, but they won't be staying for long."
Si Ya: "Mother, what do you mean by this?"
Daejoo and Samsoon also looked at her with puzzled expressions.
Wan Shu didn't offer much explanation, only giving a mysterious look: "You'll find out in a few days."
This strange attitude made them wonder if their mother wanted to do something to Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin so that they could no longer stay in this place.
However, after only a few days, they discovered that Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin were already struggling to make ends meet without Aunt Lin having to do anything at all.
Seeing that the braised food wasn't selling well, Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin switched back to selling sesame seed cakes the next day.
Unfortunately, the braised food incident affected their reputation, and many of their old customers who used to buy their sesame cakes stopped buying from them.
Business plummeted.
After failing to make any money for several days in a row, Uncle Lin and Aunt Lin had no choice but to pack up their tools and leave Sishui County in a sorry state, preparing to find another county to set up their stall.
Meanwhile, Wan Shu's family's stall stood out from the other stalls that were closing down one after another, and their skills became particularly outstanding. They quickly gained fame, and their daily sales doubled.
On average, we can sell 70 to 80 jin of pig offal a day, and 60 to 70 jin of crayfish a day.
The sun is setting.
As usual, Wan Shu took his three children and sat on the oxcart, with Uncle Er Niu taking them home.
