Chapter 67 The Bracelet

Chapter 67 Bracelet

"You should spend money when you need to. Besides, you and your sister-in-law have helped me so much, it's only right that I buy you something," Song Yushu said as she finished cooking the dishes, plated them, and had them delivered.

"Alright, alright, I can't argue with you," said Mother Wei, seeing that she was sincere and didn't want to spoil the mood.

Since the restaurant couldn't function without staff, Song Yushu had to take Wei's mother to town to buy a bracelet first.

They naturally went to that century-old shop. Her family couldn't afford to be so extravagant, and she didn't have the means to get those old craftsmen to cut in line for her. So she could only choose a shop with decent designs and take Wei's mother inside.

Knowing that she was going to buy a bracelet today, Wei's mother put on her best clothes that she had kept at the bottom of her trunk, and was a little uncomfortable when she was pulled into the shop.

The proprietress of the silver shop had a keen eye; after recognizing Song Yushu, she warmly came out to greet the mother and daughter.

"Wow! I never expected my shop would be able to entertain such a busy person as Boss Wei today. It's truly a rare treat!"

"Mr. Bai, you're too kind! Why haven't you brought your children over for a visit these past few days? The other ladies even asked me why you haven't come over!" Song Yushu was surprised to find that the shop was run by a regular customer who frequented the farmhouse.

"Ugh! Don't even mention it. My husband twisted his ankle the other day, and the two little ones at home have been nagging me to come over to your place every day. It's driving me crazy!"

The silver jewelry shop owner was a straightforward person. Every time she went there, she could chat with the other ladies. Whenever they had free time, the group would make plans to go to Song Yushu's place to relax.

"I see. I'll explain it to you when I get back. I came here today to buy silver bracelets. Could you please show me some nice ones, Mr. Bai?" Song Yushu said, explaining his purpose after the pleasantries were over.

"Don't worry! I guarantee you'll be satisfied!" The silver jewelry shop owner could tell this was a big business opportunity, and since she knew Song Yushu, she laid out all the beautiful silver bracelets.

Seeing so many silver bracelets for the first time, Wei's mother was overwhelmed and didn't know which one to choose. Song Yushu pulled her hand and started her trying them on. In the end, she chose one that looked simple and elegant.

Song Yushu then picked out two pretty hairpins for his two sisters-in-law and a silver butterfly hairpin for Zhou Chengzhu before settling the bill.

When Boss Bai saw that she had picked out several large items, he was overjoyed. He even rounded down the price and warmly saw them out the door.

"It's rare for me to bring you out, let's go buy some more clothes," Song Yushu said, only then realizing that he hadn't given Wei's mother anything besides the silver bracelet. He then pulled Wei's mother into the clothing shop.

“We’ve already bought the bracelet! Why waste money on clothes? We can make them ourselves!” Mother Wei refused to buy ready-made clothes no matter what.

"Then I'll just buy a few bolts of cloth, okay?" Song Yushu reluctantly compromised and led Wei's mother to pick out the cloth.

After finally selecting four bolts of cloth to take back, Song Yushu was pulled out of the shop by Wei's mother.

“You still have two children. If you spend money so recklessly, how can you possibly earn enough to cover your expenses?” Mother Wei earnestly advised.

“It’s rare for me to bring you out like this, it’s not like we do this every time. I’ll buy some snacks and go to the orphanage later to pick up a few children, then we’ll go back,” Song Yushu said, thinking that she hadn’t seen Xiao Jiu and the others for a while.

Mother Wei didn't say anything about this, after all, the children in the orphanage were indeed pitiful.

"Aunt Wei!" The children from the orphanage were no longer shy around Song Yushu and called out to her.

"I bought you candy! Everyone get some, don't rush," Song Yushu distributed the candy.

"What have you been doing all this time?" Song Yushu asked Xiao Jiu, who had grown a bit taller.

"There are no more flowers for sale, so Aunt Yun taught us to make silk flowers! They're so pretty!" Xiao Jiu said happily to Song Yushu, a piece of candy in her mouth.

Song Yushu also knew Aunt Yun, whom he mentioned. She was a woman who had been divorced after being married for ten years without being able to have a child. Her family did not want her to go back, so she came to the orphanage. She had been there for two months, and he was surprised to find that she had this skill.

"Aunt Wei, these are the prettiest silk flowers I've ever made, here you go!" Xiao Jiu remembered that she still had a gift to give, so she quickly went inside to get the silk flowers.

"It's so beautiful, thank you Xiao Jiu. As a way of repaying you, how about I pick you up to go play later?" Song Yushu was touched, not expecting the child to be so thoughtful.

"Great!" Xiao Jiu had always remembered that Song Yushu had a beautiful treehouse, which was the most fun place he had ever been. He looked forward to going there every night before going to sleep. He never expected that he could go there today, and he cheered loudly.

"Thank you for your hard work, Madam Wei. Yunniang will also go and keep an eye on them later. We can't let them affect your business." Seeing that the children were happy, the people at the orphanage couldn't bring themselves to refuse, so they simply sent someone over to watch the children so as not to cause any trouble.

When Aunt Yun came out of the house, the group of children had already eagerly boarded the oxcart, muttering about what they wanted to play first.

"Is Lady Yun settling in well at the orphanage?" Song Yushu asked, noticing her somewhat shy nature.

"I'm adapting much better than before," Yunniang said, surprised at how quickly she had adapted. Others thought it was too hard to take care of so many children in the orphanage, but she found it wonderful. She had no children of her own, but now she treated these orphans as her own. In just two months, the children in the orphanage had become very close to her.

“You can bring the children to my place to sell silk flowers when you have time in the future. However, my place is a bit remote, so there aren’t as many people as in town. It’s just a place to play,” Song Yushu said. Because he runs a restaurant, he really can’t take care of too many things, but he still wants to look after these children as much as possible.

"Thank you, Madam Wei," Yunniang finally understood why the children kept talking about this Boss Wei; he truly was a kind-hearted person.

"We've arrived, let's get off."

The children got permission and quickly got off the bus and ran toward the treehouse. It was Yunniang's first time here, and she didn't expect the place to be so big. If she hadn't been with the children, she really wouldn't have known where to go.

Zhou Chengzhu was looking at her snack shop in the treehouse when she saw familiar faces and knew they had arrived.

"Xiao Jiu, what do you want to eat? It's on me," Zhou Chengzhu said, not being stingy at all. She now had her own little savings, and it was rare for her to be so generous when she saw an old acquaintance.

"Wow! Sister Chengzhu, there are so many delicious things in this treehouse, are they all yours?" The children in the orphanage looked on with envy at the sight of so many snacks in the treehouse.

"Of course, I'll sell everything here, so hurry up and choose!" Zhou Chengzhu satisfied her vanity a little and urged them to choose what they wanted to eat.

"No need! We can't take your things for free!" Yunniang quickly stepped forward to stop the children when she saw that they had all taken candied hawthorns.
