Chapter 91 Following Orders

The man in gray sat on the carriage shaft, his gaze deep and unfathomable.

Finally, half an hour later, the carriage entered the entrance of Shangdu Village.

The village was now completely silent, with only a few houses still having a faint light on.

Lin Cuiying did not let the carriage enter the village; instead, she jumped off the carriage and ran towards the Wang family's house.

Halfway there, I saw two figures in the distance.

Upon closer inspection, she exclaimed, "Father! Mother!"

Lin Changgeng and Chen also saw Lin Cuiying, and the two were very excited.

"Yingzi!" Madam Chen rushed forward and grabbed Lin Cuiying's hand. "Are you alright?"

Lin Changgeng also rushed over. She looked Lin Cuiying up and down, her eyes full of concern.

Lin Cuiying shook her head. "I'm fine."

"Have you found Juya?" Chen asked again.

Lin Cuiying stepped aside, revealing Lin Yueju following behind her.

Upon seeing Lin Yueju, Chen burst into tears.

She hugged Lin Yueju tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.

Lin Yueju gently patted her back and softly comforted her, "Grandma, I'm fine, really fine."

"Where are Tiandong and Lanya?" Lin Cuiying asked quickly when she saw that only the two old people were there.

"They're waiting at the Wang family's place." Lin Changgeng turned to look at the location of the Wang family's residence. "We also wanted to take a walk around and see if you had arrived yet."

Lin Cuiying then briefly recounted what had happened. After listening, Lin Changgeng and Chen Shi repeatedly thanked the man in gray.

"Thank you so much for your help, our Lin family is truly grateful." Lin Changgeng's voice choked with emotion, his eyes filled with gratitude.

The man in gray took a few steps back, somewhat embarrassed. "You're too kind, I'm just following orders."

"Acting under orders?" Lin Changgeng asked, somewhat puzzled.

Lin Cuiying quickly explained, "Father, they are Young Master An's men."

"Young Master An?" Lin Changgeng was even more confused. "Which Young Master An?"

"That's Uncle An who was recuperating at our house before," Lin Yueju reminded her from the side.

Lin Changgeng suddenly realized, "So it was him!"

"Where is he?" Lin Changgeng asked anxiously. "Why didn't he come in person?"

The gray-clad man's expression changed slightly, but he quickly returned to normal.

“Young Master An has other matters to attend to, so he sent us,” he said calmly.

"However, in any case, we still have to thank our benefactors." Lin Changgeng bowed to the man in gray. "If it weren't for you, we wouldn't know how to save Ju'er."

The man in gray quickly helped him up, saying, "No, you mustn't. I was just doing what I was supposed to do."

"My benefactor is truly a chivalrous man!" Lin Changgeng exclaimed.

Seeing them keep thanking her, Lin Cuiying couldn't help but interrupt, saying, "Father, stop thanking us here. Let's go and call Tiandong and Lan'er home."

She was somewhat worried, having firsthand experience with the fiery personality of Granny Wang from the Wang family.

Lin Tiandong and Lin Lan are still young, and I'm afraid they won't be able to handle it.

Lin Changgeng then realized what was happening and quickly nodded, "Yes, yes, let's go and call them back right away."

With that, he turned and headed toward the Wang family's house.

"Father, I'll go with you." Lin Cuiying quickly followed.

Lin Yueju wanted to go too, but Chen stopped her.

"Ju'er, rest here for now." Madam Chen looked at her with concern. "Your mother and your grandfather can go."

Lin Yueju thought for a moment and then nodded.

She was indeed tired, and besides, she didn't want to see the Wang family.

Lin Cuiying and Lin Changgeng arrived at the Wang family's residence.

At this moment, outside the Wang family's gate, Lin Tiandong and Lin Yuelan were sitting together, gazing longingly at the intersection in the distance.

They were all very anxious, wondering when Lin Cuiying and the others would return.

"Tian Dong, Lan Ya Tou," Lin Chang Geng called out from afar.

Lin Tiandong and Lin Yuelan looked up upon hearing the sound and saw Lin Changgeng and Lin Cuiying, their faces immediately lighting up with joy.

"Sister!" Lin Tiandong stood up excitedly, "You're back!"

Lin Yuelan also ran over quickly and hugged Lin Cuiying tightly: "Mother, you're finally back!"

Lin Cuiying patted her head and said softly, "I'm sorry to have worried you."

"Have you found my little sister yet?" Lin Yuelan asked, her face full of guilt.

"Ju-ya-tou, wait for us at the village entrance with your grandma."

"It's been found?" Lin Yuelan's eyes lit up. "That's wonderful!"

Lin Tiandong also breathed a sigh of relief and smiled: "We finally found it."

"Let's hurry back," Lin Changgeng urged. "Ju-ya and the others are still waiting."

Lin Cuiying looked up at the Wang family's courtyard. The courtyard was dark and without a ray of light.

Although she had doubts, all she wanted to do right now was get home.

"Let's go home." Lin Cuiying pulled Lin Yuelan and turned to leave.

Lin Tiandong followed behind, feeling a sense of relief.

They arrived at the village entrance, where Lin Yueju and Chen were still standing in the same spot.

"Little sister!" Lin Yuelan ran over quickly and hugged Lin Yueju tightly.

"Big sister!" Lin Yueju's eyes were filled with tears as she hugged Lin Yuelan tightly.

"Alright, alright, let's go home." Chen wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes and looked at them with a smile.

"Yingzi, let's go back." Lin Changgeng also came over.

Lin Cuiying responded and turned to the man in gray, saying, "Thank you so much for today."

The man in gray smiled. "Miss Lin, you don't need to be so polite. I'm just following orders."

"Thank you so much, no matter what," Lin Cuiying said gratefully.

The man in gray didn't say anything more, but simply pointed to the carriage next to him, "It's getting late, you should take the carriage back."

“This…” Lin Cuiying hesitated.

"My young master prepared this especially for you," the man in gray explained. "You must be tired; a carriage would be more comfortable."

Lin Cuiying didn't refuse any longer, saying, "Thank you so much."

Then, he helped Chen into the carriage.

Lin Yueju and Lin Yuelan also boarded the carriage.

The carriage wasn't large, but it was just enough for Lin Cuiying, Madam Chen, and their two young maids.

Lin Chang-geng and Lin Tien-tung sat on either side of the carriage shaft.

The man in gray drove the carriage slowly out of the village.

Sitting in the carriage, Lin Cuiying felt a mix of emotions.

She hadn't expected things to be resolved so smoothly.

To everyone's surprise, Young Master An would send someone to help.

Thinking of Young Master An, Lin Cuiying felt a little doubtful again.

Who exactly is he? Why are his men protecting her?

These questions were like a fog, leaving Lin Cuiying completely baffled.

However, now is not the time to think about these things.

Lin Cuiying turned to look at Chen Shi and Lin Yueju, and seeing that they all looked exhausted, she did not say anything to disturb them.

However, she still had some doubts.

The Wang family is too quiet, isn't they?
