Chapter 33 Is it shameful?

Just when she was feeling disheartened, she suddenly heard people in the village saying that a rooster was crowing coming from Aunt Zhao's house.

Upon hearing this, Aunt Zheng immediately became suspicious.

As far as she knew, Zhao Sanhua's family did not raise chickens at all, so how could there be chicken sounds coming from them?

So she hurried to Aunt Zhao's house, only to find Aunt Zhao killing a chicken.

"Oh, so you stole my chicken!"

Aunt Zheng screamed and lunged forward.

Aunt Zhao was startled and before she could react, Aunt Zheng grabbed her hair.

"What makes you think I stole your chicken?" Aunt Zhao roared.

"Everyone in the village saw you take my chicken away!" Aunt Zheng insisted.

Aunt Zhao was furious: "This isn't your chicken at all!"

"If it's not mine, then is it yours?" Aunt Zheng looked disgusted. "Everyone in the village knows that your family is so poor that you can barely afford to eat. Where would you get the money to buy chickens?"

The two started arguing back and forth.

Soon, it attracted many villagers to come and watch.

What happened?

"It seems that Aunt Zheng said that Aunt Zhao stole her chickens."

"Stealing chickens? How could that be possible?"

The villagers were buzzing with discussion, unable to believe their ears.

Aunt Zheng and Aunt Zhao were known for their good relationship. They were always gossiping about this or that. How could Aunt Zhao possibly steal Aunt Zheng's chicken?

"Don't listen to her nonsense!" Aunt Zhao shouted angrily. "I bought this chicken myself!"

"You bought it yourself?" Aunt Zheng sneered. "Then show me the proof!"

Aunt Zhao was speechless.

She couldn't provide any evidence, because she found the chicken in the mountains that day.

At the time, she was gathering firewood in the mountains when she suddenly saw a chicken foraging in the grass.

She looked around and, finding no one, quietly walked over and grabbed the chicken.

She thought it was a gift from God, but she never expected that it was actually a chicken from Aunt Zheng's house.

"What? Can't produce any evidence now?" Aunt Zheng laughed smugly. "I knew you stole my chicken!"

After saying that, she reached out to snatch the chicken.

Aunt Zhao was unwilling to give up. The chicken had already been killed; she couldn't just abandon the task halfway through.

So the two of them started fighting over the chicken.

"Let go!"

"I won't let go!"

Will you let go or not?

"I won't let go!"

The two started arguing and fighting, and soon they were wrestling.

Seeing this, the villagers quickly stepped forward to break up the fight.

However, the two of them were acting like madmen, and they couldn't be separated at all.

"Stop pulling them! Let them fight!" Suddenly, a cold voice came from outside the crowd.

When everyone turned around, they saw Lin Cuiying standing there quietly, her expression complicated.

Lin Cuiying's appearance immediately surprised Aunt Zheng and Aunt Zhao.

But she didn't say much, just stood silently outside the crowd, coldly watching the two of them fight like dogs.

However, the fight escalated into a fierce brawl.

Aunt Zheng said that Aunt Zhao stole chickens, while Aunt Zhao said that she picked up the chickens from Aunt Zheng's house herself.

The two held firm to their own opinions, and neither was willing to give in.

They not only pulled each other's hair, but also slapped each other in the face.

The fight was so fierce that even the villagers watching were dumbfounded.

Finally, the village head arrived.

He shouted, "What are you two arguing about? Aren't you ashamed?"

Hearing the village head's voice, Aunt Zheng and Aunt Zhao reluctantly stopped.

Both men had a black mark on their faces, and they stared at each other with murderous intent in their eyes.

"Village head, you've come at the right time!" Aunt Zheng looked at the village head as if he were her savior. "Zhao Sanhua stole my chickens!"

"Stealing your chickens?" The village head frowned; he had heard about this as well.

He walked up to Aunt Zheng and asked coldly, "Do you have any evidence?"

Aunt Zheng stiffened her neck and said angrily, "Zhao Sanhua sneaked into my chicken coop today and took the chickens away!"

The village head looked at Aunt Zhao, who sneered, "I found that chicken in the mountains, why do you say it belongs to you?"

"Can you prove that those are your chickens?" the village head retorted.

Aunt Zhao fell silent.

She couldn't prove that the chicken was found in the mountains.

But Aunt Zheng persisted: "If it's not yours, then take it out!"

"Why should I take it out?" Aunt Zhao sneered. "I found that chicken, why can't I eat it?"

"You...you..." Aunt Zheng was so angry she couldn't speak.

Seeing that the two were arguing endlessly, the village headman impatiently shouted, "Alright! Stop arguing!"

He glanced at the chicken and said, "I think this is fine, we'll each have half of the chicken, and that'll be the end of it!"

Aunt Zheng and Aunt Zhao were both unhappy when they heard this.

But they dared not offend the village head, so they could only reluctantly agree.

The village head waved to disperse the crowd, but his gaze suddenly stopped when it swept over Lin Cuiying. "Call your father to my house."

Lin Cuiying nodded, went home to call her father, and went to the village head's house.

"Village head, what do you need us for?" Lin Changgeng asked.

"Cuiying and the two maids' household registrations have been processed."

Upon hearing this, Lin Cuiying's eyes lit up.

The village head handed Lin Cuiying and Da Ya and Xiao Ya's household registration information to Lin Changgeng, who immediately beamed with joy.

Lin Changgeng looked at it and then handed it to Lin Cuiying.

When he saw the names Wang Daya and Wang Xiaoya on the household registration, he frowned.

When the neighborhood was registering the household registrations, how could they have forgotten to change the names of the two girls?

How can "Da Ya" and "Xiao Ya" be considered names?

Lin Cuiying immediately felt a pang of regret.

Why didn't she think of that back then?

"Village head, can I still change my name now?" Lin Cuiying asked tentatively.

The village head looked at Lin Cuiying with a puzzled expression: "Whose name should we change it to?"

"Change Daya and Xiaoya's names! Not only their names, but their surnames should also be changed to the Lin family name."

The village head was somewhat surprised. He knew that the two girls had severed ties with the Wang family, but this was the first time he had encountered them changing their surname.

"Are you really sure?"

Lin Cuiying nodded firmly: "I've made up my mind! From now on, Daya and Xiaoya will have the surname Lin!"

She had planned this for a long time. Since she decided to raise her two children well, she couldn't let them use their old names and surnames anymore.

Lin Chang-geng also supported Lin Tsui-ying's decision: "Village head, please help me revise it."

The village head pondered for a moment before nodding, "Anyway, the two girls have severed ties with that side, so have you thought of new names yet?"

"I've made up my mind." When Lin Cuiying decided to change the names of Daya and Xiaoya, she had already asked the system to help her choose some names. "From now on, Daya will be called Lin Yuelan, and Xiaoya will be called Lin Yueju."
