Chapter 51 Hitting someone hurts the most

Lin Cuiying quickened her pace; she was eager to meet Tang Ancai as soon as possible and see what kind of person he really was.

Soon, they arrived at Tang Ancai's house.

What came into view were several dilapidated mud-brick houses, with large chunks of mud falling off the walls to reveal the thatch inside. The doors were also broken and shaky, and they would sway precariously in the wind.

"My goodness, this guy's family is so poor!" Doubi couldn't help but exclaim. "Even poorer than your family, Host."

Lin Cuiying's lips twitched. "Can't you speak properly? Can't you speak properly? My family is low-key, you know what low-key means?"

"Yes, yes, yes, host, your family is indeed low-key." The goofy guy quickly flattered, "So what do we do now?"

Lin Cuiying didn't speak, but went up and knocked on the door.

After waiting a while, a somewhat hoarse voice came from inside, "Who is it?"

"The manager of Huichuntang told me to come and find Tang Ancai," Lin Cuiying said casually, making it up.

No sooner had he finished speaking than the door creaked open, and a young man dressed in coarse cloth, thin and with a sallow complexion, appeared in the doorway.

Lin Cuiying glanced at him, especially noticing his feet, which were larger than those of an average person. She then realized that this man must be Tang Ancai.

"Who are you?" Tang Ancai looked at her with some wariness.

When he saw clearly that Lin Cuiying was wearing a constable's uniform, he instinctively wanted to close the door.

Lin Cuiying reacted quickly, blocking the door with her bare hands. "Hey, why are you closing the door?"

"I don't know you, you've got the wrong person." Tang Ancai looked flustered and tried to close the door.

Lin Cuiying pushed the door open forcefully and walked in, saying, "If you haven't done anything wrong, what are you afraid of?"

Tang Ancai's face became even more panicked. "I, I'm not afraid. I haven't done anything wrong. You, you've got the wrong person."

As he spoke, he turned and tried to run away.

Lin Cuiying rushed forward and grabbed his arm. "Trying to run? You can't escape even if you grow wings."

"What, what exactly do you want to do?" Tang Ancai's face turned pale, and his voice trembled slightly.

Lin Cuiying narrowed her eyes. "Tang Ancai, you stole He Shou Wu from Anhetang, and you still want to deny it?"

"I, I didn't, I didn't steal it, you've wronged me," Tang Ancai explained in a panic, his eyes darting around, but he dared not look Lin Cuiying in the eye.

Lin Cuiying saw his reaction and became even more certain that he was up to something. "You say you didn't steal it? Then why are you panicking?"

"I...I'm not panicking, I'm not panicking," Tang Ancai stammered, cold sweat beading on his forehead.

Lin Cuiying snorted coldly, "Not panicked? If you're not panicked, what's with the sweat on your forehead? Is it because you're hot?"

Tang Ancai raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead, somewhat at a loss, "I, I..."

"Stop talking to me, you'd better just confess honestly, and maybe you'll get a lighter sentence." Lin Cuiying looked at him sternly, "Otherwise, once I find the evidence, you're finished."

Tang Ancai trembled, seemingly terrified. "I... I really didn't steal it. You've wronged me."

"I'm accusing you?" Lin Cuiying narrowed her eyes. "Then tell me, why were you near Anhetang the night before last?"

Tang Ancai's eyes flickered, and he stammered, "I, I was just passing by, yes, I was just passing by."

"Just passing by?" Lin Cuiying scoffed. "Do I need to climb over a wall to just pass by? Do you think I'm stupid?"

Tang Ancai was speechless, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.

"What else do you have to say?" Lin Cuiying pressed. "I advise you to tell the truth, or you'll only get yourself into trouble."

Tang Ancai was silent for a moment, then suddenly gritted his teeth and said, "I don't know what you're talking about. I really didn't steal it. You've wronged me."

"You won't shed a tear until you see the coffin."

Lin Cuiying was too lazy to waste any more words with him, so she found a rope and tied him up, then prepared to search his house.

Upon seeing this, Tang Ancai immediately became anxious, "What are you doing? This is my home, you can't just run around like this."

"Why can't I search?" Lin Cuiying glared at him. "If you didn't steal anything, what are you afraid of? Besides, why can't the police search when they're investigating a case?"

"I, I wasn't afraid, I just..." Tang Ancai was at a loss for words, not knowing what to say next.

Lin Cuiying ignored him and started searching the house.

However, after searching for a while, a silly voice rang in her mind, "Host, stop looking, this guy doesn't have any Polygonum multiflorum at home."

"No?" Lin Cuiying frowned. "Are you sure?"

“I’m sure,” the goofball said confidently. “I just scanned the place with my X-ray vision, and this guy’s house is dirt poor; he has absolutely nothing.”

Lin Cuiying stopped what she was doing and looked at Tang Ancai with a hint of doubt in her eyes, "Where did you hide the he shou wu?"

Tang Ancai was stunned for a moment, then looked away in a panic. "I, I don't know what you're talking about."

"You're still trying to deny it." Lin Cuiying was a little angry. She hated dishonest people the most. "Whether you stole it or not, I know in my heart. You'd better confess honestly, or you'll suffer the consequences."

Tang Ancai didn't speak, he just kept his head down, and it was unclear what he was thinking.

Lin Cuiying knew she wouldn't get anything out of him by asking any more questions, so she decided to teach him a lesson.

A cold smile curled at the corner of her lips. Since this guy was being so stubborn, then she wouldn't hold back.

Lin Cuiying knew exactly how to hit someone to make them hurt the most, and yet leave no visible marks.

She grabbed Tang Ancai's arm and twisted it hard.

"Ah—" Tang Ancai let out a scream, his face contorted in agony. "What are you doing? Let me go!"

Lin Cuiying didn't let go of him; instead, she tightened her grip even more. "Will you talk or not? If you don't, I have plenty of ways to make you beg for mercy."

Tang Ancai was sweating profusely from the pain, but he still gritted his teeth and refused to speak, "I, I really don't know what you're talking about, you've wronged me."

"Still being stubborn." Lin Cuiying snorted coldly and pinched it hard again.

Tang Ancai let out another scream, his body trembling uncontrollably.

He felt as if his arm was about to be broken, and the pain brought tears to his eyes.

"I'll talk, I'll talk..." Tang Ancai finally couldn't take it anymore and shouted, "Let me go, okay? I'll talk!"

Lin Cuiying gave a cold laugh before letting go of her hand.

Tang Ancai clutched his arm, looking at her with a pained expression. "What...what do you want to know?"

"Where is the He Shou Wu?" Lin Cuiying asked coldly, her face stern.

Tang Ancai gritted his teeth, looking hesitant.

It seemed she hadn't had enough of the suffering yet, and Lin Cuiying made a move to hit her again, saying, "You'd better think carefully before you answer, my patience is limited."
