Chapter 26 The Village Head Helps

Upon seeing Lin Cuiying, both of them breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yingzi, you're back? Did anything happen on the way?" Lin's mother held Lin Cuiying's hand and looked her up and down.

"It's alright, Mother, I'm fine," Lin Cuiying said with a smile. "I bought some rice and meat in town."

As she spoke, she took the contents out of her basket.

Lin Changgeng and Chen were stunned when they saw what was in the basket.

"Yingzi, why did you buy so much stuff? How much money did this cost?" Chen asked with concern.

“Mother, don’t worry, it didn’t cost much. These were all necessary purchases,” Lin Cuiying explained. “You’re getting old, so you need to eat more good food to nourish your bodies. Besides, Father and Tiandong are injured, so they need to eat even better.”

Upon hearing this, both Chen and Lin Changgeng were moved to tears.

At this moment, Daya and Xiaoya also ran over.

"Mom, you're back!" Daya exclaimed excitedly.

"I miss you both too." Lin Cuiying hugged her two daughters tightly, her face full of smiles.

The little girl looked up at Lin Cuiying and asked, "Mom, could you take us with you next time you go to town?"

"Sure, I'll take you all next time," Lin Cuiying said softly.

Da Ya and Xiao Ya laughed happily when they heard this.

Where is Tian Dong?

Lin Cuiying had already taken out the meat buns and asked Chen to heat them up, but she still hadn't seen Lin Tiandong.

The little girl pointed to the corner of the yard, "Uncle, he pooped over there!"

Lin Cuiying was taken aback, then realized that Xiaoya meant Lin Tiandong was in the outhouse.

She couldn't help but laugh: "Little girl, you can't say you pooped, you have to say you went to the outhouse."

"Oh, I know, Mother." The little girl nodded obediently. "It's Uncle who's in the outhouse."

Lin Cuiying patted her head and said nothing more.

By the time Lin Tiandong finished using the outhouse and came out, the meat buns were ready.

Lin Changgeng and Chen were reluctant to eat because they were worried about the cost, but Lin Cuiying gave each of them one so they could eat.

"These meat buns smell so good! I've never eaten such delicious meat buns before," Lin Tiandong exclaimed as he ate.

"Yingzi, why did you buy one less?" Chen Shi noticed that Lin Cuiying hadn't bought one, so she quickly handed her the meat bun.

"I ate in town this morning," Lin Cuiying said with a smile, declining Chen's offer. Then she turned to Lin Changgeng and began discussing the household registration issues of the mother and her two children.

"This is simple. You come with me to the village head's house in a bit and bring the letters of severance of ties between Daya and Xiaoya."

After hearing this, Lin Cuiying turned around and went back into the house, putting the letter of severance of ties and her divorce agreement into a cloth bag.

He went to the kitchen and cut off a piece of pork he had bought in town, putting it in a basket to take with him when he went to the village head's house later.

After a while, Lin Changgeng called Lin Cuiying to go out.

Soon, the two arrived at the village head's house.

The village head's house is a brick and tile house, which is considered a relatively good house in Luhua Village.

At this moment, the village head was feeding the chickens in the yard.

Upon seeing Lin Changgeng and Lin Cuiying, he paused for a moment, then smiled and greeted them.

"Chang Geng, Cui Ying, what brings you here?"

"Village head, we need your help," Lin Changgeng said.

"Come in and sit down quickly." The village head hurriedly welcomed them into the house.

Lin Cuiying took the pork out of the basket: "Village head, this is pork bought in town, brought especially for you."

“Cuiying, you…” The village head looked at the pork, hesitating.

"Village head, this is a token of our appreciation from my father and me. Please accept it," Lin Cuiying said with a smile.

After thinking it over, the village head finally accepted the pork.

After sitting down, Lin Changgeng told the village head about Lin Cuiying and the others' plans to move their household registration back to Luhua Village.

The village head was somewhat surprised to hear that Lin Cuiying had divorced.

But after hearing about Lin Cuiying's experiences in the Wang family, I couldn't help but feel some sympathy for her.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of this for you," the village head assured him, patting his chest.

After thanking them repeatedly, Lin Cuiying and the others came out of the village head's house.

When Lin Cuiying got home, she saw Chen Shi tidying up the tattered quilt she had brought back from the Wang family.

This quilt was the one she used at the Wang family's house; it was stuffed with straw and wasn't warm at all.

However, Mrs. Chen did not mind and took great care of it.

"Mother, this quilt is so torn, let's throw it away," Lin Cuiying said.

“No, this quilt can still be used.” Chen shook her head. “You just got divorced and are homeless. Every penny counts.”

Hearing this, Lin Cuiying felt a pang of sadness.

That's what mothers are like; they spend their whole lives thinking about their children.

She said, "Mom, don't worry, I have a way to make money."

"What's your idea?" Chen asked curiously.

"Well, I can't tell you that yet," Lin Cuiying said with a mysterious smile. "But don't worry, I'll definitely make money and give you a good life."

Seeing that Lin Cuiying was unwilling to talk about it, Chen did not ask any further questions.

"Mom, please put these quilts away first. Da Ya, Xiao Ya, and I will make do with them tonight. I'll go to town in a few days and buy some new quilts."

After Lin Cuiying finished speaking, Madam Chen quickly waved her hand in refusal.

"No, no, Yingzi, we must save money at home. Didn't you see how many people in the village are envious of the rice and meat you bought today? You can't buy any more quilts."

Lin Cuiying was both amused and exasperated upon hearing this. She thought to herself that she should have bought a quilt in town earlier; one act of envy would have been enough.

Thinking about how much money I still have in my account, I'm going to go on a big shopping spree in town in a few days.

However, before going to town for a big shopping spree, you need to think of a way to make money so that no one will suspect you.

Lin Cuiying pondered for a while but couldn't come up with a good solution, so she simply stopped thinking about it.

The boat will straighten itself when it reaches the bridge, and the car will find a way out when it reaches the mountain!

That night, Lin Cuiying slept in the same bed with her two daughters.

A small bed is definitely not enough for three people.

Daya quietly moved behind Lin Cuiying, wanting to get closer to her.

"Da Ya, you're squeezing me," Lin Cuiying said helplessly.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Ya squeezed in as well.

"I want to be close to my mother too."

Lin Cuiying looked at her two adorable daughters and said, "You two little rascals, you can't even sleep peacefully."

The little girl giggled and said, "I'm already asleep."

Daya laughed and said, "She's asleep, but she can still talk?"

Xiao Ya retorted, "I said it with my eyes closed."

Da Ya wanted to argue, but Lin Cuiying gently patted their backs, signaling them to stop talking.

"Mother, you are so good to me," Daya said softly.

Lin Cuiying felt a surge of joy upon hearing Daya's words.

"Silly children, if I'm not good to you, who will I be good to?"

Daya whispered to Lin Cuiying, "Mother, don't worry, I will take good care of my sister."

When Xiao Ya heard her sister say that, she quickly replied, "I will be obedient too."
