Chapter 234 Plain Noodles

The next day, Yuan Doudou had just finished feeding her baby and was about to take a nap when she heard Xiao Qian calling furtively from outside, "Doudou, can I come in? I miss my goddaughter."

Before she could respond, Ye Xiaoqian had already pushed the door open and entered.

"You're awake? Why aren't you paying attention to me?" Ye Xiaoqian said reproachfully.

This made DouDou laugh in exasperation, "You came in before I even had a chance to get in."

Instead, they blamed her.

"It's all thanks to my Tangtang. I've been longing for her tiny appearance for months. She's even cuter than I imagined. You know I love to sleep in, so I can get up this early thanks to Tangtang."

As Ye Xiaoqian spoke, she moved a stool to sit on the edge of the bed, rested her chin on her hands, and looked at Tangtang's peaceful sleeping face, feeling very content.

"You love children so much, when are you going to consider having one yourself?" Yuan Doudou teased with a smile, seeing her engrossed in the moment.

Ye Xiaoqian was so startled that she almost fell off the bench.

"Don't even think about it. No matter how much I like it, I could never have a child." She might have had fantasies before, but now she's come to terms with it. Relying on a man is not as good as relying on herself, and having children is not as good as enjoying life.

Liking something doesn't mean you have to own it. Besides, seeing DouDou's child is like seeing her own child. She can have a clay doll without lifting a finger. Isn't that more enjoyable than getting married and having children herself?

An Rong was already a very good husband, and he took great care of Dou Dou. But after just one night, she could vaguely see the dark circles under Dou Dou's eyes. Even a fool could imagine how hard it must have been for her to take care of the baby all night.

"Fine, just don't regret it," Yuan Doudou said sarcastically.

She admitted that she used to be one of those who feared marriage and childbirth. She doesn't want to be a saint, selflessly dedicating herself to her children and everything for them.

No matter how much money you have, it's not enough to support one child. You give your all, but when you get old, the child you raised with such hardship may turn into an ungrateful wretch.

In contrast, rather than engaging in a business that can't recoup its costs, it's better to be single, eat whatever you want, and sleep whenever you want.

Having freedom without children is a great blessing in the long journey of life.

But that was before. Now her thoughts have completely changed. When she holds her baby in her arms and breastfeeds her, she feels like the happiest woman in the world.

Giving birth is painful, but having your own child is joyful.

This is something that no other child can replace, even if that child is outstanding in every way.

"Don't worry, I have many regrets, but I will never regret not having children." Ye Xiaoqian was envious that Dou Dou was able to give birth to such a cute child as Tang Tang, partly because the child was Dou Dou.

The principle of "love me, love my dog".

She likes DouDou, so she likes her daughter.

"Come on, breakfast is ready." An Rong pushed the door open with his left hand and carried a tray with a bowl of meat soup noodles on it in his right hand.

The soup was made from pork bones simmered all night, served with homemade noodles, a few blanched greens, and two fried eggs. The meat was carefully removed from the bones and diced, making it easy to eat.

He didn't understand at first, but his neighbor, Sister Juan, told him that women in their postpartum period shouldn't eat hard food. All ingredients should be cooked until soft and tender so they won't hurt teeth and are easy to digest, which is good for the mother's recovery.

"Wow, it looks delicious." Ye Xiaoqian swallowed hard, completely losing her composure.

She had heard that postpartum meals were the worst food in the world, and she almost believed it when she didn't see the food An Rong cooked.

Watching Yuan Doudou eat with relish, she finally understood why Doudou looked so happy.

"Hey, eat slowly, I won't fight you for it," Ye Xiaoqian said, stopping him with her hand.

Yuan Doudou: I don't believe you for a second. Look how drooling she is. If you don't eat quickly, she might snatch it away.

An Rong noticed that she was eating too fast and was worried that she might choke.

"Don't rush, there's more in the pot." He knew that new mothers get hungry easily. After giving birth, their stomachs are empty all at once, and without the baby pressing on their stomachs, their appetites will increase.

Upon hearing this, Ye Xiaoqian rushed out of the room. "Really, why didn't you say so earlier?"

A short while later, Ye Xiaoqian returned to the room with a large bowl of plain noodles. In front of Dou Dou, she slurped up a big mouthful, because noodles taste best when eaten in large bites.

"Auntie Xiaoqian, this is the food that Daddy made for Mommy. Why did you eat it too?" Anji got out of bed, his face not looking too good. He hadn't even taken a bite, yet Auntie Xiaoqian had eaten so much.

Ye Xiaoqian resisted the urge to roll her eyes. She could eat whatever she wanted, and then ask An Rong to make more when she was done.

She traveled all this way, surely she doesn't have to be lectured by a three-year-old just for eating noodles.

"Anji, have you forgotten who taught you kung fu?" Once a teacher, always a teacher, Ye Xiaoqian began to play the emotional card.

Anji obediently shut up and dared not say anything more. Aunt Xiaoqian was a guest who had come from afar, and it seemed reasonable for her to just want to eat a bowl of her mother's noodles.

Yuan Doudou found it quite amusing to watch the two of them bickering. She always loved noodles, and Sister Juan also said that noodles were good for postpartum women as they were easy to digest. So An Rong made her a variety of noodles, including soup noodles, dry noodles, thick noodles, thin noodles, and wide noodles.

She joked that if An Rong didn't open a tavern, opening a noodle shop would be a good choice.

Well, it seems An Rong is good at everything when it comes to food.

After making breakfast for Dou Dou, An Rong still had to make breakfast for the whole family, but Lu Xi did most of the work while he provided assistance.

In just two or three days, Lu Xi's skill in making steamed buns had caught up with his. The buns she made had even pleats, were round, and had pointed heads and round tails.

Huang Rong would also help wrap them, but after a lot of effort, she could only wrap them in a wrinkled and crooked way. The worst part was that the mouths were open, making them look very ugly.

She wondered why she couldn't wrap buns well when even a rough man could do it. Out of spite and a bit of competitiveness, Huang Rong wrapped more than a dozen buns at once. When the buns came out of the pot, they were all smiling.

"Why are all these buns open?" While eating, Ye Xiaoqian looked at the steamer full of open-mouthed buns and was puzzled. An Rong's cooking skills were excellent, so it was impossible for him to have taught such a bad apprentice. Could these buns have been made by Lu Xi?

"A steamed bun with its mouth open is the most fragrant. Try one," Huang Rong said, trying to maintain her composure as she promoted the steamed buns she made.

Ye Xiaoqian glanced at the steamer basket again, saw a few good buns at the bottom, and shook her head, "Never mind, I'll just eat the buns at the bottom."

This is clearly not made by An Rongbao. I don't know how he teaches his apprentices. How can anyone stand to see it wrapped like this?

"I still prefer this one." Ye Xiaoqian said to Huang Rong as she picked up a large, smooth bun.
