Anji cupped his mother's face in his hands, kissed her cheek, and said softly, "Mother, don't be sad. Look, I'm fine from head to toe, nothing's wrong with me."
After saying that, Angie touched himself from head to toe.
Yuan Doudou was amused by his serious examination. The little guy is thoughtful and will be a sweet little man in the future.
"This time it was lucky, Mother is still scared." She dared not think that if Zhuang Shuhui's axe had been pointed at Anji, the consequences would not have been like this.
Yuan Doudou was about to say something when she heard the door open.
"DouDou, it's me." Wang Qiqiang called from outside.
In the morning, he and Zhang Aiju were busy making rice noodles at home. The rice noodles were almost finished, but Yuan Doudou still hadn't come.
The younger sister rushed home to tell them that something had happened at Yuan Doudou's house.
After finishing the last bucket, Zhang Aiju hurriedly asked Wang Qiqiang to take the rice noodles to check on the situation.
Yuan Doudou opened the door and saw the bucket in Wang Qiqiang's hand, only then realizing that she had forgotten something.
"Brother Wang, I forgot about making rice noodles. I'm sorry to have troubled you." Yuan Doudou took the wooden bucket from his hand. It was a large bucket of rice noodles, which was quite difficult to lift.
Wang Qiqiang stepped aside, saying, "I'll carry it inside."
He put down the rice noodles, picked up Anji, and praised him: "Anji is so brave. If other children had encountered what happened today, they would have been so scared that they would have wet their pants."
"Really?" Angie asked in surprise.
Wang Qiqiang smiled and nodded: "Of course it's true. When has Uncle Wang ever lied to anyone?"
He put Anji down and asked Yuan Doudou with concern, "Zhuang Shuhui didn't succeed, did she?"
Yuan Doudou's pupils contracted, her expression turning cold: "If she succeeds, she won't let her off so easily."
“Uncle Wang, it was Xiaobai who helped us. If it weren’t for Xiaobai, Second Grandma would have split the cabinet in half.” Anji pointed to Xiaobai inside the room.
Wang Qiqiang was puzzled. How could Xiaobai, a kitten only the size of a palm, have such abilities?
As soon as he went in to find out what was going on, he saw Xiaobai suddenly stand up from the bed, its back arched high and its tail held straight up.
It was making a whimpering sound, clearly indicating that Little White was angry.
Anji quickly stepped forward to comfort him: "Xiaobai, don't be afraid, Uncle Wang is a good person."
"Haha, Xiaobai is a real warrior, DouDou, you've found a treasure." Seeing that Xiaobai was wary of him, Wang Qiqiang gave up the idea of picking it up.
Xiao Bai: You stinky man, you dare to try and take liberties with me? No way!
Yuan Doudou couldn't help but chuckle: "You deserve a good reward, Xiaobai. How about I cook fish for you tonight?"
The little white cat meowed twice.
"Want two?"
A meow.
Anji jumped up and down, clapping his hands, "Little White understood! Little White is so smart!"
Wang Qiqiang was dumbfounded. The world is truly full of wonders. Even cats can understand human speech?
Ah Huang, the dog in his house, can't understand him yet. If you ask him to help you get a shoe, he'll just grab some straw and make things worse.
“Come on, I’ll take you fishing, how about it?” Wang Qiqiang asked Anji, looking down at him.
Angie clapped his hands happily: "Yay!"
He loved playing in the river, but his mother strictly forbade him from going to the water alone, saying that there was a water monster that would eat children.
Now that's alright, with Uncle Wang around, he can protect himself from being eaten by the water monster.
"Dou Dou, you stay home and cook, I'll take him with me. Don't worry, I'll take good care of him." Since he treats Dou Dou like a younger sister, then Anji is his little nephew.
It is only natural for an uncle to take care of his nephew.
"Okay, then I'll trouble you, Brother Wang." Yuan Doudou smiled, having an older brother wasn't bad.
“From now on, call me Big Brother. My mother said she wants to adopt you as her goddaughter. Are you willing?” Mother said she would ask Dou Dou if she was willing.
Yuan Doudou looked delighted: "Really? Of course I'd love to!"
Her mother-in-law had passed away, leaving her alone and helpless in the village. Aunt Zhang had always been very kind to her, and she was more than happy to have her become her godmother.
Wang Qiqiang chuckled, "I knew you'd be willing."
After saying that, he breathed a sigh of relief, picked up an empty bucket, took Angie's hand, and walked towards the river.
Ping'an Village is not large. Behind the village is a mountain, and in front of the village is a large river, which has been widened by humans and is not flowing water, so the water quality is not good.
When they arrived at the river, Wang Qiqiang let Anji play on the bank while he rolled up his trousers and went into the river. The water was murky and yellow, and catching fish depended entirely on luck. He groped around in the water for a long time before finally catching one, but it darted away in a flash.
Wang Qiqiang followed the direction of the water ripples to search for and surround the fish, catching it on the riverbank. It was a crucian carp smaller than his palm.
"Uncle Wang is amazing!" Anji clapped and cheered from the side.
Wang Qiqiang went ashore and put the fish into a wooden bucket filled with clean water.
"Anji, you have to call him uncle," he reminded him with a smile.
Angie wanted to ask why, but then decided against it.
"Uncle, can you teach me how to catch fish?" Angie was eager to learn the skill.
“Okay, the most important thing in catching fish is to be quick-witted and nimble-fingered. Pretend there’s a fish in front of you, and try to catch it like I’m doing.” Wang Qiqiang patiently demonstrated the process.
Angie imitated him, pretending to catch fish on the shore.
"Did you catch any?" Wang Qiqiang asked earnestly, as if there really were fish ahead of him.
"We didn't catch it, the little fish got away," Angie said, somewhat dejectedly.
Wang Qiqiang smiled and said, "It's alright, it will appear again."
"Look, it's coming, it's to your left front." Wang Qiqiang was on high alert.
To his left front, there really was a fish about the length of a hand, slowly swaying.
He held his breath, and with a swift movement, his hands gripped the fish's head.
"Got it!" Wang Qiqiang raised his hands, and the crucian carp shimmered in the sunlight.
Angie's eyes crinkled with laughter as he mimed catching a fish, sharing his joy.
"Uncle, I caught a fish too, look!" His hands were empty, but he felt incredibly proud.
Wang Qiqiang laughed so hard his shoulders shook, and he praised loudly, "Anji is great! It seems I'll have to relinquish my title as the number one fish catcher."
Angie kept giggling.
It was midday, and the sun was blazing down on the earth.
The uncle and nephew walked on the scorching path, their faces covered in sweat, but they were all smiles.
"Mom will be so happy to see so many fish." Angie looked at the lively fish in the bucket, feeling a surge of pride.
Wang Qiqiang was thinking about what to eat to quench his thirst when he got back.
I happened to pass by Uncle Wang's watermelon field, where ripe watermelons were everywhere.
"Anji, do you want some watermelon?"
Anji also saw the watermelon and his mouth watered.
"Uncle, I want to eat watermelon." I wonder if my uncle has any money with him.
"I'll go pick one." Wang Qiqiang put down the bucket and went to the field, carefully selecting the biggest one.
