Chapter 1: Uncle is Back (2/2)

Meng Zeyan's facial features are more three-dimensional and harder, and he is also taller, probably around 1.9 meters. He looks like a kind person, but there is no warmth in his eyes.

Meng Zeyan roughly guessed her identity. She should be Meng Zeyu's wife.

Before they got married, Meng Zeyu wrote him a letter, saying she was going to get married. The letter didn't describe her marriage partner in detail, only saying that he was a good person.

Watching his sister-in-law walk into the kitchen, Meng Zeyan was a little confused and asked his mother, "Mom, is my sister-in-law an adult?"

Xing Cui had almost vented her emotions and was wiping her tears with a handkerchief. She became unhappy when she heard what Meng Zeyan asked.

"What nonsense are you talking about! How can she marry Zeyu before she reaches adulthood?" After saying this, she felt a strange taste in her mouth. "It was Zeyu who delayed her. She became a widow right after getting married."

She is good-looking and has a good personality, but she is not blessed.

Seeing that Xing Cui was about to cry again, Meng Zeyan helped her sit down on a small stool beside her and whispered to her about himself: "I have been transferred to our military region. I will report in a few days. I will come back to accompany you when I am free."

"Really?" Xing Cui couldn't believe it. She had already made preparations for Meng Zeyan to settle down in another province, but he was transferred back without saying a word?

"Really." Meng Zeyan sat down next to his mother and assured her with a faint smile.

He hadn't made up his mind until he received the news of Meng Zeyu's death. After his brother died, it was his turn to come back to support and accompany his parents. For so many years, Meng Zeyu had been the one fulfilling his filial duty, and he was not qualified to be the eldest brother.

Xing Cui stood up happily, wiped her eyes quickly with the back of her hand, and hurried to the kitchen.

"Put the food inside and come out to eat. Mom will cook two more dishes."

Tang Huan was cutting vegetables in the kitchen. She couldn't cook and wasn't very skilled at cutting vegetables. She cut the potato shreds into potato strips and almost dropped the knife on her nails.

Xing Cui walked in and was shocked to see Tang Huan chopping vegetables. "Xiao Huan, put the knife down!"

Turning around and seeing his mother-in-law, Tang Huan put down the knife with a smile, looking at the fruits of his labor with some embarrassment, "Mom, I cut it too thickly."

"It's okay, Mom will fry the potatoes. You don't need to help, go out and play."

Xing Cui particularly liked Tang Huan, a petite and lovely girl with fair complexion, sweet voice and a gentle personality. When she gave birth to her second child, she had hoped for a daughter, but ended up with a son.

After much difficulty in raising her, he lost his life saving someone, leaving behind his newly married wife and elderly parents. After Meng Zeyu's death, the old couple treated Tang Huan as their own daughter, treating her wholeheartedly and transferring all their affection for their son to Tang Huan, otherwise they really couldn't get through it.

Tang Huan knew that his help was equivalent to causing trouble, so he obediently left the kitchen, went home, took out the high school textbook and continued reading.

She graduated from high school in her original world but didn't get into college. In another world, she also graduated from high school. It wasn't that she didn't get into college, but her physical condition didn't allow her to go to school. When she was in high school, her time to attend classes was limited.

She wants to learn some more high school knowledge and try to take the college entrance exam next year, just to fulfill her dream.

Meng Zeyan put his things back in the room, changed his clothes and walked into the yard.

Their yard is large. Half of it was cultivated by Xing Cui to grow vegetables, and the other half has a grape trellis made of bamboo poles. There is always a table and a few benches under the trellis, where they usually drink tea and eat.

Tang Huan was sitting under the grape trellis reading a book. She was so engrossed in her reading that she didn't notice anyone coming over until someone sat down opposite her. Then she looked up. This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
