After a quick vegetarian meal, Tao Wanniang and her entourage left the dining hall. Bai Yumei was in a very low mood and needed Tao Wanniang's support to leave.
"I can't understand why they're still doing so well after I sent the letter." Bai Yumei couldn't believe it, and she couldn't accept that the people who harmed her were now living such a good life.
“Yu Mei, you’re not quite calm right now. Let’s ask a novice monk to book a room for you. I’ll go and test the waters for you!” Tao Wan Niang said, supporting Bai Yu Mei. Upon seeing a novice monk, she immediately told him that she wanted a private room.
"This way, please, benefactor." The young novice monk glanced at Bai Yumei and then led the group to the backyard.
Just then, as they stepped into the backyard, they saw Xiao Yi accompanying Princess Rui to her room to rest.
"What... what happened?" Xiao Yi couldn't help but ask when he saw Tao Wanniang supporting Bai Yumei.
"Manager Tao?" Princess Rui was also surprised.
"This humble woman greets Princess Rui and Prince Rui," Tao Wanniang immediately greeted them, and the Ling family members beside her also spoke up.
"No need for formalities, what's wrong?" Princess Rui looked at Bai Yumei's sorrowful expression and wondered what could possibly happen in a Buddhist temple.
"My accountant is unwell, so he's come to the side room to rest," Tao Wanniang said. "Your Highness, Your Highness, may I pass by?" Tao Wanniang said solemnly.
But then he remembered that he had asked Xiao Yi to investigate this matter, so he winked at Xiao Yi.
Xiao Yi saw it, but with his mother by his side, he naturally couldn't say anything and only nodded slightly.
After arriving at the side room, Tao Wanniang gestured to her son and daughter-in-law to make themselves at home, telling them to rest if they wanted or go for a walk if they wished. She only asked Xiao Qiao'er to accompany Bai Yumei, and went to the courtyard by herself.
A moment later, Xiao Yi also came out. "Sister Tao, is there something you want to tell me?"
"The matter of Yu Mei's husband's family that you asked the young master to investigate back then, wasn't it said that the Huang family was in Wangjing?" Tao Wanniang asked bluntly, her expression somewhat indignant. "Just now, in the dining hall, Yu Mei saw Master Huang and Madam Huang. Madam Huang is six months pregnant, and they seemed very much in love. She was deeply shocked!"
Xiao Yi usually wouldn't take such things to heart. After Tao Wanniang finished speaking, he slowly asked, "What does Sister Tao need me to do?"
"Originally, I wanted to investigate myself, but since Your Highness has spoken, I would like to ask you to send someone to find out where this group is staying in the capital and what their intentions are!"
Xiao Yi was taken aback, then burst out laughing, "Sister Tao, you really don't hold back when you order me around!"
"Your Highness is approachable and kind-hearted, Your Highness, don't you agree?" Tao Wanniang flattered him directly.
Xiao Yi was both amused and exasperated, then said, "Tell me about the couple's physical characteristics, and I'll have Cheng Feng arrange it."
Tao Wan's mother immediately told Xiao Yi what Master Huang and his wife looked like, and finally praised them, saying, "Young Master is quick to help those in need and has a noble character. He will surely be blessed in the future."
Xiao Yi chuckled. He, a dignified prince, had become Tao Wanniang's most reliable helper!
"Sister Tao, go back and comfort Miss Bai first. I'll go and instruct Cheng Feng."
"Thank you for your help, Your Highness." Tao Wanniang thanked Xiao Yi again, and then simply went back to her room to see Bai Yumei.
"What are you doing standing here?" Tao Wanniang asked, frowning, as she saw her two sons at the door of the side room.
"Mother, we were just about to go out for a walk, but when we saw you talking to the Prince Rui's son, we came back," Ling Dahu replied truthfully. "Mother, are you very familiar with the Prince Rui's son?"
"It's alright. I asked the young master for help. You can go out and have fun if you want. I'm going to check on Yumei." Tao Wanniang said casually, and then pushed open the door of the side room and went inside.
The Ling brothers exchanged bewildered glances. Could the young master really help so easily?
"Brother, you said Mother and the young master..." Ling Dapeng murmured softly, "I prayed before Buddha, hoping someone could take care of Mother for the rest of her life..."
“I also asked Hongyu for help,” Ling Dahu said in a low voice, then both of them showed a look of horror in their eyes.
"It can't be the heir apparent!" Ling Dahu swallowed hard and said cryptically. They couldn't possibly be in a position to marry him.
Inside the side room, apart from his grandson Ling Rui, there were only women. The children were sleepy and lay down on the bed to sleep.
Bai Yumei calmed down a bit, and upon seeing Tao Wanniang return, she immediately asked, "How is she? Is she still there?"
"I've asked the Crown Prince to help with this matter. Don't worry, we'll have the results soon regarding where they're staying and how many people are with them."
"I overheard what they were saying. They must think I died with my eyes open in disbelief and wanted to come to Buddha for help!" Bai Yumei laughed bitterly. "Elder sister, tell me how unfair this world is!"
Looking at Bai Yumei's appearance, Tao Wanniang thought for a moment and asked, "Do you have your jade pendant with you?"
"No, I kept it at home," Bai Yumei replied immediately, then said regretfully, "I should have worn it on my person and then asked someone to deliver it to them, to see if I could scare them to death!"
“That’s right. Once you find out where they’re staying, you can send the jade pendant over there. It’ll be a good opportunity to give them a taste of their own medicine!” Tao Wanniang said with satisfaction when she heard that Bai Yumei understood immediately.
"Mother, who are they?" Xiao Qiao'er didn't quite understand. When Tao Wan's mother told everyone about Bai Yumei's matter, she didn't go into much detail.
"Yes, they are some villains who harmed Yu Mei. Yu Mei discovered them in the cafeteria just now," Tao Wanniang replied simply.
"Oh? What a coincidence!" Wang Hongyu exclaimed. "Sister Yumei, no wonder you look so pale. How dare this person come to burn incense after doing something bad?"
"The more guilty you are, the more you want to pray to Buddha and gods," Tao Wanniang said sarcastically. "It's better to rely on yourself than on others, let alone Buddha!"
Wang Hongyu was stunned for a moment. Weren't they here to worship Buddha and pray for blessings today?
"Then...should we wait until those people leave before we go?" Wang Hongyu asked tentatively.
"We won't gain anything by encountering her now," Tao Wanniang nodded. "If Yu Mei needs to avoid people, she can rest in the side room. Everyone else can go out and take a look if they want."
“If I leave the child while he’s asleep, he’ll wake up and cry if he doesn’t see his mother,” Zhou Xiaoyun said. “I’ll stay with the child and keep Sister Yumei company.”
“That’s fine too. What about you, Qiao’er?” Tao Wan’s mother asked Qiao’er. “I still want to go out and see the world. If you want to go out for a walk with your mother, that’s fine too.”
"Little Qiao'er, you go out and play with your older sister. I don't have the guts. They're the ones who wronged me, but I don't dare to confront them!" Bai Yumei said self-deprecatingly.
"Yu Mei, don't worry, I'll get justice for you!"
Tao Wanniang spoke earnestly, her eyes filled with unwavering determination!
