Lin Li watched as the staff began to tidy up the banquet hall, watched Ah Zhen's apprentice pack the remaining desserts into insulated containers, and watched Mr. Yu being helped towards the elevator.
I feel very tired, yet I'm also full of energy.
"Going home?"
Lin Laosan came over and helped her wrap her shawl tighter. "I had Acheng drive the car over."
Lin Li shook her head and walked to the window to look at the hotel in the morning light.
The glass curtain wall reflected the morning glow, as if it were plated with gold.
“Wait a little longer,” Lin Li said with a smile, facing the rising sun. “I want to see what it looks like when the first rays of sunlight shine on the ‘Bayview’ signboard.”
Lin Laosan stood with her by the window, their shadows nestled together on the floor.
The ferry in the distance began to sound its horn, and a new day began.
The bustling city is about to awaken, and their Bayview Hotel will also welcome its first morning on this land.
As the sun rose, golden light pierced through the clouds and fell upon the hotel's sign.
The four gilded characters of "Bayview Hotel" shone brightly.
"Let's go home and have breakfast."
Lin Li turned and walked towards the door, her steps light as if she were walking on clouds. "Ah Zhen said she's going to make boat congee, using fish slices that were just caught this morning."
