While the mother and son were resting in their room, the Lin siblings were still having a lively discussion.
"Big brother, Mom used to listen to you the most. Go and stop her from going to town tomorrow."
Lin Lao Er touched the enamel bowl and offered his suggestion.
"She probably hates me the most right now..." Boss Lin waved his hand, thinking to himself, "Don't try to fool me. Today's matter is just over. I'm not going to hang around in front of the old lady. The old lady has a strong grip, and my face is still hurting."
The two brothers stared intently at Lin Xiaodi and Lin Xiaomei.
"We...we dare not!"
The two siblings exchanged a glance and then spoke cautiously.
“You have to go, whether you dare or not. You two have no jobs and no place to live. I won’t keep you here forever. Either you go ask Mom for money and a house, or you get out of here. I don’t support idlers.”
Lin Laoda's veins bulged as he glared angrily at his two lazy, good-for-nothing siblings. He knew their personalities and temperaments very well; they were incredibly lazy.
He's not an old lady who'll be coaxed into doing whatever he wants. He's over 20 years old, and he still has the nerve to keep asking for money!
Seeing their older brother's angry expression, the two siblings didn't dare to talk back. They could only lower their heads and whisper, "Then we'll go find Mom first thing tomorrow morning."
After Lin Lao Er saw that the matter had been decided, he looked at the moonlight outside the window, stood up, patted his clothes, and said, "Then I'll go back first. Call me if you need anything!"
After watching Lin Lao Er's departing figure, Lin Lao Da glared fiercely at Lin Xiao Di and Lin Xiao Mei before turning back to his bedroom.
After watching their brothers leave, the two siblings breathed a long sigh of relief, glanced at each other, and then went back to their makeshift beds to sleep.
As Lin Xiaomei slept in the storage room next to the pigsty, smelling the incredibly foul stench of pig manure, her hatred for Lin Li surged to unprecedented heights. She thought to herself, "Mom, if you're heartless, don't blame me for being ruthless too."
If Lin Li knew what she was thinking, she would just laugh at most. The original owner, Old Lady Lin, was so good to you beasts, but in the end she still starved to death. So why should she be good to you?
Give me a reason first?
Lin Li didn't care about those unfilial sons at all; she was currently working hard in her spatial dimension.
After harvesting the crops in the fields, the soil was replanted piece by piece, the cow feed was filled in, and the amount of milk to be sold the next day was reserved before the warehouse was emptied.
She repeated this process until the system notified her that she could upgrade again. She quickly clicked to upgrade and saw automatic planting and harvesting appear on the virtual panel before she finally breathed a long sigh of relief.
Finally upgraded to the 'automatic' version! If it still had to be done manually, she would have been exhausted!
After setting up the automatic button and purchasing the newly added farmed chicken and duck breeds after the upgrade, she left the space.
I glanced at the time on the table; it was almost 3:30 a.m. I yawned, then collapsed and fell into a deep sleep.
When she woke up naturally, the sun was almost at its highest point. Stretching her back, she slowly moved her body, and just as she was about to bend down to put on her shoes, there was a 'crack' sound, her bones shattering. Startled, Lin Li remained in that position for a full minute.
The original owner just fell and couldn't get up. She's so young, could she already have osteoporosis?
Once she was sure she could still move, Lin Li stopped bending over and simply put her feet into the shoes. She strained to get her feet in, then took out a bottle of milk and gulped it down. "It's important to start taking calcium supplements early; health is the most important thing!"
After finishing her milk and a bowl of spiritual spring water, Lin Li opened the door and went into the main room. Seeing the porridge and pickled vegetables on the table, Lin Li nodded in satisfaction. Whether her son was filial or not, she should not only listen to his words but also observe his actions.
"Mom, you're up!"
Lin Laosan returned from outside carrying a hoe. Upon seeing Lin Li, he shouted out happily.
"Hmm, you're up. Did you finish planting and come back?"
"Yes, I'll finish my work this morning, and then I can go to town with you this afternoon."
"Then I'll go to the kitchen and cook some more dishes, and we'll go after we finish eating!"
"Alright!"
Lin Li went into the kitchen and chopped green peppers on the elm wood cutting board, the "thump thump" sound mingling with the crackling of firewood in the stove.
Lin Laosan squatted in front of the earthen stove, added a handful of dried corn stalks, and the flames suddenly shot up.
Lin Li slid the shredded meat coated in egg into the iron wok, oil splattering everywhere. As she turned the meat with the bamboo spatula, the aroma of scallions, ginger, garlic, and green peppers filled the air.
"Turn the fire down."
Lin Laosan quickly pulled out some firewood.
Boil water in another pot, blanch the bok choy until cooked, sprinkle with coarse salt, drizzle with a few drops of oil, stir-fry briefly, and it's ready to serve.
"Let's go eat!"
"Alright!"
The mother and son, one carrying dishes and the other carrying white rice and chopsticks, happily entered the main room.
Two bowls of white rice, accompanied by glistening green peppers and shredded pork, and fresh green bok choy, were a delicious and satisfying meal for the mother and son.
Standing outside the courtyard, Lin's younger brother and sister smelled the aroma of food wafting from inside. After swallowing a few more mouthfuls, Lin's younger brother smacked his lips and said resentfully, "Mom's life is getting more and more extravagant. She ate meat last night and meat again for lunch today. She's squandered all our money."
"Exactly, how can we possibly live like this?"
Their stomachs suddenly rumbled. They exchanged a glance and were about to knock on the door when they saw the door open from the inside.
Lin Li and Lin Laosan were about to leave for Xinhe Town when they saw the two siblings standing in front of the door with angry expressions, about to knock.
