Chapter 79 Buying another storefront

Before the morning sun had even climbed onto the roof, Lin Li was awakened by Lin Laosan's knocking on the door.

"Mom, Mom, are you up?"

Looking at her watch, it was only a little past eight in the morning. Lin Li rubbed her eyes hard.

"Wait for me for ten minutes!"

"Okay!"

Ten minutes later, as soon as Lin Li opened the door, a cold mist and chill rushed into the room, making her shiver.

"It's still so cold in Beijing."

Lin Li complained as she entered the main room.

Looking at the breakfast on the table, I quickly finished it off.

He then took out two bottles of milk from his spatial storage and handed one to Lin Laosan.

After Lin Laosan took it, he and Lin Li tilted their heads back and drank the milk directly.

After drinking the milk, the two felt completely awake.

Lin Laosan pushed the bicycle as usual, with two woven bags tied to the back seat by a rope.

"I'll keep an eye on the stall today, Mom. You go and look around the neighborhood for a storefront."

Lin Laosan breathed warm air into his palm, "I hope everything goes smoothly today."

Lin Li nodded and closed the courtyard gate.

"Let's go, we still have a lot to do today!"

The two walked towards Xiushui Street on the frosty bluestone path.

When the two arrived at Xiushui Street, it was already bustling with activity.

An old man pushing a coal cart, a woman carrying a bamboo basket to buy vegetables, and office workers in Zhongshan suits hurrying to work all converged into a flowing river on the street.

Lin Laosan skillfully spread out a plastic sheet in his usual spot, and the clothes rack made of bamboo poles was full of batwing shirts, the bright red, bright yellow and lake blue fabrics rustling in the cold wind.

Lin Li helped tidy up the stall, straightening the wooden sign that read "Shenzhen's trendiest clothing, good quality and low price," before walking into the alley.

She wandered around the alleys on both sides of Xiushui Street.

Ice crystals formed at the base of the wall, and the wind swirled withered leaves along the blue brick path.

Lin Li turned her gaze to the telephone pole covered with notices.

"Rental storefront" notices were scarce, and when I finally found one, the handwriting was blurred by rain.

She tiptoed to tear off the note, when she suddenly heard a shout from behind her.

"Girl, tearing down notices will result in a fine!"

Looking back, I saw a neighborhood committee auntie wearing a red armband, holding a paste brush in her hand.

Lin Li smiled at the older woman: "I'm looking for a storefront to start a business..."

The older woman looked her up and down a few times, then softened her tone.

"Looking for a storefront? A few days ago, a warehouse at a textile factory vacated a room, but you have to pay a six-month deposit of three hundred yuan."

Three hundred yuan! That's not expensive!

"Can you take me to see it?"

Upon hearing this, the woman's face lit up with delight. "Sure, come with me!"

She had already inquired and found out that if they could rent out the storefront, they could get a referral fee of twenty yuan.

Following the older woman, we wandered around until we arrived at a room that had been vacated from the textile factory warehouse.

As soon as I opened the door, a cloud of dust rushed out.

Looking at the empty room, Lin Li shook her head.

"Auntie, this won't work. I'm renting a storefront, but this place isn't on the street and there's no foot traffic, so it can't be used as a storefront. However, it could be used as a warehouse."

Do you still want to rent a warehouse?

Lin Li nodded.

"Then I'll take you to ask."

The older woman enthusiastically led Lin Li to the textile factory's office.

"Director Chen, this young lady wants to rent a warehouse."

"oh?"

Upon hearing the older woman's words, the middle-aged man put down his newspaper and looked at Lin Li.

"How big of a warehouse do you want to rent, and for how long?"

"A year, I guess! But I want my own room."

"That's no problem. We just happen to have a room available in our warehouse, you..."

Before Director Chen could finish speaking, the old lady interrupted him.

“Oh, Director Chen, we just came from that room. This young lady said that it’s not suitable as a storefront, but it could be used as a warehouse.”

"That place was originally a warehouse!"

Director Chen looked at Lin Li with a surprised expression. Hadn't they already checked the location? Why did she come to find him again?

"Director Chen, the prices for renting a storefront and a warehouse are different. That room has a 300 yuan deposit, payable every six months. Isn't that a bit too expensive? Can you make it cheaper?"

After hearing this, Director Chen frowned and shook his head.

"Young lady, this is a government plan; not a penny less is acceptable!"

"I see!"

Lin Li sighed regretfully, "Then we'll just have to forget about it!"

After saying that, he turned around and left the textile factory.

The older woman and Director Chen watched Lin Li's departing figure and let out a long sigh.

what to do?

Let's keep looking for someone to rent it to!

Not far from the textile factory, Lin Li saw a "Shop for Sale" notice on a utility pole.

"Street-facing storefront with a counter inside. Price negotiable."

She immediately became excited; this was a great place, and she could open for business right away.

Following the address on the notice, I turned into the alley and found an elderly man wearing a melon-shaped hat holding a purple clay teapot and sipping tea under the lintel of an old-style courtyard house.

"Hello, do you have any storefronts for sale here?"

"Are you... a real estate agent?"

"No, I want to buy a storefront to start a business."

The old man raised his eyelids slightly, his cloudy eyes scanning her up and down.

"Young lady, do you know how popular this shop is? The textile factory leaders came to see it just yesterday."

"Sir, I'm genuinely interested in buying a shop, that's why I came here."

"I see! Then come in and have a look!"

After saying that, the old man stood up and pushed open the door.

The moment Lin Li pushed open the door, her breath caught in her throat.
