Seeing that Qi Yanjue didn't move, Song Yueying automatically assumed that he was refusing to take the pills she had given him, so she put the pills away.
Song Yueying said, "It's your own fault for not taking the medicine. No matter how painful the wound is, you have to endure it. Don't expect me to take care of you. You took a knife for me, but you were already badly injured before you took the knife."
"I didn't leave you to die on the spot, but instead brought you to the hospital for treatment. That's already repaying more than half of the favor you did for taking the knife for me."
"If I cover your medical expenses, we'll be even. Don't try to use the debt of saving your life to blackmail me into taking care of you."
“We’re not related, and no matter how kind-hearted I am or how many good deeds I do, I would never risk my reputation.”
After saying that, Song Yueying turned around and took out the unfinished orange from the net bag and continued eating.
Mmm, delicious, still so sweet.
"Song Yueying, how dare you say such a thing?" Qi Yanjue's face remained calm, but his eyes blazed with anger. What a convenient excuse for severing ties, using the debt of saving a life to blackmail someone.
A year ago, she used the fact that he saved her life to blackmail him into marrying her. For the sake of her reputation, he had no choice but to register their marriage.
Swallowing the orange in her mouth, Song Yueying turned to look at Qi Yanjue lying on the hospital bed. She retorted bluntly, "Why would I be embarrassed to say such a thing?"
Qi Yanjue didn't answer her question, his sharp eyes fixed on her, trying to see if she felt guilty.
Unfortunately, no, she showed no remorse whatsoever. It was as if she wasn't the one who had blackmailed him into marrying her a year ago by using his life-saving grace.
Qi Yanjue suddenly realized something: ever since he woke up, Song Yueying's gaze towards him had been distant, and she vehemently denied that she was his family member...
As Qi Yanjue mentally reviewed every word Song Yueying had said, he became increasingly certain that something was wrong with Song Yueying, very wrong.
Putting aside the injury on Song Yueying's forehead, let's talk about her attitude towards him.
She felt completely unfamiliar with him; it was as if she had forgotten him, Qi Yanjue, or rather, Qi Yanjue was not a person in Song Yueying's memory.
Could it be that Song Yueying has been replaced?
It's quite possible that Qi Yanjue found this idea very reasonable the more he thought about it. He had encountered situations where his contact person was replaced during previous missions.
And more than once.
Especially in this mission, if the contact person hadn't been replaced, resulting in more than half of the people he brought being killed or injured, he wouldn't have had to use death to confuse the public.
A small hand waved before his eyes, bringing Qi Yanjue back to his senses. He stared at the fair little hand, then followed its gaze to its owner.
"What are you doing?" Qi Yanjue asked.
With a snort of a smile, Song Yueying said, "I should be asking you what you're thinking about. You're so engrossed in your thoughts that you don't even respond when I talk to you."
This woman has a problem, and a big problem at that. Qi Yanjue decided to calm her down first, and collected his thoughts. He asked, "What did you just tell me?"
"You really didn't listen to me." Song Yueying hated rude people the most.
Qi Yanjue said calmly, "I was just thinking back, did you have an injury on your forehead or not? I remember you had an injury on your forehead, from hitting your head against the wall..."
"You're mistaken." Song Yueying quickly interrupted him, hoping to dispel his memory as well. "I didn't hit a wall. Am I stupid? Why would I hit a wall?"
She grew anxious. A sharp glint flashed in Qi Yanjue's eyes, but he echoed Song Yueying's words, "Yes, you're saying I remembered wrong, but I clearly..."
A knock on the door interrupted Qi Yanjue's words.
"Come in," Song Yueying called out, secretly relieved. She had just been thinking about how to interrupt him when the knocking sounded.
It seems that good luck is on her side.
The ward door was pushed open, and a group of people walked in.
Song Yueying looked at the people who walked in; some she knew, and some she didn't.
I recognized several people: Will, a foreigner, and Will's translator; Dr. Zhao; and a nurse. I didn't recognize three people: a doctor in a white coat and two police officers in uniform.
Qi Yanjue's gaze swept over the crowd, lingering on the foreigners for a few seconds before finally settling on Dr. Zhao's face.
Will's eyes gleamed with excitement as he walked up to Song Yueying and said in German, "Brave and beautiful girl, so this is where you are! I've been looking for you for so long, so very long."
"I'm so glad I finally found you."
Will's translator thought Song Yueying couldn't understand, so he said, "Comrade, Mr. Will said he has been looking for you for a very long time, and he is very happy that he has found you."
Song Yueying smiled at Will's translator and looked at Will, saying, "Hello, Mr. Will, what brings you here?"
Song Yueying's voice was very calm, and she spoke in German.
"Hello, hello! Brave and beautiful girl." Will said with a smile, "I'm here to ask you for help, and I hope you can be my witness."
"Testify?" Song Yueying blinked, not understanding why Will wanted her to testify.
Will pointed to the doctor in the white coat, then to the two police officers, "They don't believe me and want me to find a witness to testify."
Will and Song Yueying spoke back and forth in German. Only Will's translator could understand them; everyone else, including Dr. Zhao and Qi Yanjue, couldn't.
Everyone in the ward except Will was looking at Song Yueying.
Especially Will's translator; Will told him the girl who saved him spoke German, but he didn't believe it. Now, listening to Song Yueying's conversation with Will, her German is even more fluent than his.
I just translated what Will said to Song Yueying, and I felt my face burning with embarrassment.
"Comrade, who taught you German?" Will's translator asked, not out of malice, but out of curiosity.
Song Yueying, however, thought differently. She looked at the translator, parted her red lips slightly, and uttered a few words, "No comment."
The translator was stunned, completely unexpected that Song Yueying would reply with such a sentence.
Will couldn't understand what Song Yueying said. Seeing his own blank expression as a translator, he guessed that he had said something that Song Yueying didn't like. He gave Song Yueying an apologetic smile.
Will patted his translator on the shoulder and reminded him, "Zhou, you shouldn't ask girls such private questions. It's very impolite."
Zhou, the translator, knew that Will hadn't understood the woman's words and had even misunderstood him as saying something he shouldn't have. He didn't explain, but turned to look at Will and said, "Thank you for reminding me."
"No comment," Song Yueying said in Mandarin, which everyone in the ward except for the foreigner Will understood.
The fact that she dared to openly challenge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs translator made everyone's expressions complicated as they looked at Song Yueying.
Song Yueying glanced at the two policemen first, then her gaze settled on Will's face. She asked in German, "Mr. Will, you just said they don't believe you and want me to testify for you. What kind of testimony?"
