Chapter Twenty-Nine: Divorce

Lying back with her hands behind her head, Song Yueying looked at the translucent roof tiles and then at the mud walls.

This family was truly destitute.

Fortunately, the experimental vehicle that exploded with her became her private space and came along with her. With this advantage, she should be able to live longer in this era.

It wasn't that Song Yueying was pessimistic, but rather that she had survived too many assassination attempts in her past life. In the end, she was successfully assassinated and ended up here along with the experimental vehicle.

Oh well! Since we're here, we might as well make the best of it!

Everything in the original world is like yesterday's death, but being transported to this era is like being born today.

After quickly washing up outside, Song Yueying went back inside to check on her stepsister. As she reached to pull back the blanket, a large hand gripped her wrist tightly.

Qi Yanjue opened his eyes and stared at Song Yueying, a dark glint flashing in his eyes.

He woke up when she opened the door, but pretended to be asleep to see what she was up to. The woman approached the bed and reached out to pull back the sheet covering him.

He wasn't wearing a shirt; his body was completely covered by the bed sheet.

"Song Yueying, what do you want to do?" Qi Yanjue asked coldly, grabbing the bed sheet with his other hand and slowly sitting up.

If she tries to use the same trick again, he will absolutely not let her succeed this time.

"Let go, let go now!" Song Yueying struggled a few times, but not only could she not break free, her wrist hurt even more. She was already a little embarrassed, but now...

How embarrassing! This guy was about to crush the bones in her wrist.

"You haven't answered my question yet." Qi Yanjue naturally wouldn't let go of her hand.

Song Yueying dared not struggle any longer, fearing he would increase his strength and actually crush her wrist bones. She angrily said, "I don't care what your problem is, let go of my hand right now! Do you want to crush my wrist bones?"

Qi Yanjue was taken aback, then released her hand.

Freed, Song Yueying rubbed her aching wrist and sneered angrily, "Qi Yanjue, you repay kindness with enmity."

"Hmph, you're the one who wanted to do something to me, yet you accuse me of repaying kindness with enmity. You're quite good at turning the tables," Qi Yanjue retorted calmly.

Song Yueying was stunned, unable to believe he would say such a shameless thing. She gritted her teeth and said, "I shouldn't have bothered with you."

One sentence reminded Qi Yanjue of his injuries, and he felt... that the injuries no longer hurt.

The hand that grabbed Song Yueying's wrist had a knife wound on its arm.

Turning his head to look at his arm, Qi Yanjue froze. He remembered clearly that the wound had bled when he changed the dressing yesterday, but it had healed today.

The knife wound on his arm wasn't very serious, but it was definitely not minor either. Qi Yanjue quickly pulled back the sheet covering him and looked down at the gunshot wound on his chest…

It has healed...

How come the wounds have all healed in just one night?

Having experienced it firsthand, and then thinking about the bruise that disappeared from Song Yueying's forehead.

Qi Yanjue finally believed that Song Yueying had a medicine that was even more effective than imported drugs, capable of healing wounds in a very short time.

This kind of medicine is a life-saving miracle drug, whether used in the military or in hospitals.

Suppressing his excitement, Qi Yanjue looked up at Song Yueying.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Song Yueying felt uneasy under his gaze and looked at Qi Yanjue with wary eyes.

For safety's sake, she took a step back, but feeling still not safe enough, she took another step back.

"I want to talk to you." Qi Yanjue's tone was no longer cold. Thanks to his height, even sitting on the bed, he could look Song Yueying in the eye.

"What do you want to talk to me about?" Before Qi Yanjue could answer, Song Yueying bluntly asked, "About you being my mother's son, my brother?"

Qi Yanjue was speechless, and emphasized again, "I am not Mom's son."

"Hypocrite." Song Yueying scoffed, wanting to roll her eyes at him. "You've already called her 'Mom,' yet you still say you're not her son. Do you even believe that yourself?"

"Although I don't know why you haven't come back for almost twenty years, or why you haven't written a letter home."

“But you really don’t need to deny it. I don’t mind that Mom has a son and I have an older brother.”

Seeing that her words were getting more and more outrageous, Qi Yanjue knew that if he didn't explain, things would really get unclear. He took a deep breath and said, "I call her 'Mom' because she's your mom."

"What do you mean?" Song Yueying asked, frowning, feeling that Qi Yanjue's words were a bit convoluted.

"What I mean is, she's your mother, my mother-in-law, and you're my wife whom I've married." Qi Yanjue said, looking at Song Yueying with a complicated expression.

He truly hadn't expected her to forget him. He didn't know if she had only forgotten him, or if she had forgotten everything about him.

When he left the hospital, Zhao Yiheng told him that Song Yueying had deposited fifty yuan for his medical expenses at the hospital.

"What did you say?" Her mother is Qi Yanjue's mother-in-law, and she is Qi Yanjue's wife? Song Yueying stared wide-eyed in disbelief and took two steps back in shock.

Song Yueying searched through the original owner's memories several times, but still couldn't find any information that Qi Yanjue was the original owner's husband.

Therefore, Qi Yanjue was not the original owner's husband with whom she had a marriage certificate. So why did he claim to be the original owner's husband with whom she had a marriage certificate?

Song Yueying couldn't understand it. A piece of paper was handed to her, and she took it blankly and looked at it. The first four words, glaringly obvious, made her feel terrible.

Marriage certificate?

It really is a marriage certificate.

The names listed above are Qi Yanjue and Song Yueying.

When Qi Yanjue comes to Song Yueying to divorce her, he will naturally bring the marriage certificate with him.

"You made up the lie that you're my mother's son-in-law just to avoid admitting you're my mother's son." Song Yueying was so angry she wanted to tear the paper in her hand. "Let me tell you, nobody believes you."

"The person I married has already sacrificed his life for the country."

She was using the original owner's body, accepting the original owner's family, and also accepting the original owner's identity as a martyr's widow. But Qi Yanjue was now Song's mother's son, her brother.

Qi Yanjue said, "I can't explain the reason to you now, but I really am Qi Yanjue, your husband."

“But you’re my brother too! Our marriage is like this…” An idea rushed into Song Yueying’s mind, “Divorce, let’s go to the county to get a divorce right now.”

Qi Yanjue never expected that revealing his identity would only lead to further misunderstanding, "Song Yueying..."

"Don't say anything more, this divorce must be finalized as soon as possible. Get ready, I'll go find the brigade leader to rent an oxcart." Interrupting Qi Yanjue, Song Yueying turned and left.

Watching her hurried departure, Qi Yanjue was still somewhat bewildered. He hadn't expected that before he could even mention divorce, Song Yueying would propose it first.

Everyone else is so proactive, there's no reason for him to procrastinate.

Before long, Song Yueying returned in an oxcart. Seeing Qi Yanjue already waiting at the courtyard gate, she asked, "Did you bring the certificate?"

"I brought it," Qi Yanjue replied as he nimbly climbed onto the oxcart.

Just as the oxcart set off, Song's mother chased after it and asked, "Little Shadow, where are you going?"
