Song Yueying went back to her room to change her clothes. As soon as she stepped out of the room, her mother said to her, "Little Yingying, play by yourself in your room for a while. I'll go get you something delicious."
After saying that, Song's mother went out.
He left Song Yueying standing there, bewildered in the wind, and told her to play by herself for a while, treating her like a child.
Looking at Qi Yanjue lying unconscious on the ground, Song Yueying felt complicated, as if it were... a fantasy.
She had just transmigrated when she encountered him being surrounded and attacked, and he implicated her. He took a knife for her, and she used a gas weapon to kill those people, incidentally taking him to the hospital as well.
They should have been even, but suddenly he became the original owner's older brother, and also her older brother.
Since he's her own brother, she definitely can't let him die. Song Yueying squatted down in front of Qi Yanjue, pried open his mouth with one hand, and took out a white pill and put it into his mouth.
After Qi Yanjue swallowed the pill, Song Yueying let go of his hand and stared straight at his face.
I must say, this guy is really good-looking, especially his thin lips, which are very well-defined. His face is also handsome, with well-defined features, and his long eyelashes look like two small fans.
It's beautiful everywhere you look.
Such a handsome man dying... it would be an injustice. Noticing her heart beating too fast, Song Yueying raised her hand and patted her cheek.
What are you thinking about? That's your own brother.
"Little Shadow, what are you staring at him for?" Song's mother walked in carrying a basin and saw her daughter squatting in front of the man, staring at him intently.
"I just realized he's actually quite good-looking," Song Yueying replied frankly.
"Yes, he is quite good-looking." Song's mother nodded in agreement; her son-in-law was indeed handsome. If Xiao Qi weren't good-looking, her daughter wouldn't have chosen him.
Walk to the old square table and place the basin on it.
Turning around, she saw her daughter still staring at her son-in-law, and said, "Little Shadow, let's eat first, and you can continue watching him after you finish eating."
After saying that, Song's mother went out again.
Song Yueying was stunned. Could a mother really say something like that? But then she remembered that Song's mother was known as a crazy woman in the village, so she suddenly wasn't surprised.
She slowly stood up and looked towards the door.
The courtyard where the mother and daughter lived was a separate courtyard built by the original owner's father when he was alive. Although it was an adobe house, the layout was not bad, with two rooms, a main room, a kitchen, and a toilet.
There is a small dam in the middle, with vegetables planted on both sides.
Looking back at the furnishings in the main room, which were laid out in a completely unobstructed view, one could see that the place was quite poor.
In that era of work points, every household was struggling to get enough to eat and wear. Housing was a luxury, and even getting a nutritious meal was extremely difficult.
A few small sweet potatoes lay forlornly in a bowl on the table, looking rather pitiful.
A fragrant aroma wafted into her nose, and Song Yueying turned around abruptly. She saw her mother carefully walking in, carrying a large basin, her expression showing a hint of wariness.
The basin was covered with a lid, so you couldn't see what was inside.
"Little Shadow, we're having meat today, lots of chicken." Song's mother said with a smile, placing the bowl on the table before quickly closing the door.
The room instantly became mostly dark, but the light filtering through the cracks in the roof and the door was enough to see everything clearly.
Chicken? Driven by curiosity, Song Yueying walked to the table and lifted the lid of the pot. A fragrant aroma filled the air.
In the bowl, a whole chicken is soaking in the oily soup.
When Song's mother returned to the table, Song Yueying asked, "I don't remember raising chickens at home. Where did this chicken come from?"
“We don’t raise chickens at home,” Song’s mother answered readily. “This is the hen that lays eggs at your uncle’s house. You went out yesterday and hadn’t come back by dark, so I was waiting for you at the door.”
When Wang Muxiang came back from work and saw me at the door, she said to me, "You ran away with another man and you don't want me anymore."
“I was furious, so I chased her to her house and yelled at her. After I finished yelling at Wang Muxiang, I came back and found her hen following me.”
"Since it came back with me, I felt bad about kicking it out, so I caught it and killed it."
"Don't worry, I made chicken soup last night, no one knows."
It's understandable to feel bad about chasing away a chicken that followed someone home; catching it and stewing it is only natural. No problem, Song Yueying's thinking has been successfully swayed by her mother.
People at that time didn't care much about cooking. The chicken soup that Song's mother mentioned was simply putting a whole chicken in a pot and boiling it with some salt until it was cooked.
"Little Shadow, here's a chicken leg for you." Song's mother tore off a chicken leg and handed it to Song Yueying.
Looking at the chicken leg in front of her, Song Yueying was speechless.
"Eat quickly!" Seeing her daughter not moving, Song's mother urged, "Wang Muxiang will definitely come looking for the hen when she finds it's missing. Let's finish the chicken quickly."
"Throw the chicken bones far away, and she won't be able to find them."
Song Yueying really wanted to say, "Wang Muxiang is such an unreasonable person. If she can't find a chicken, she'll blame it on you. Who told you to be the village's acknowledged madwoman?"
After hesitating for only a moment, Song Yueying reached out and took the chicken leg.
"Only a fool wouldn't eat meat when it's there," Song Yueying thought as she sat down at the table. Before she could even take a bite of the chicken leg, another one was offered to her. She looked up, staring blankly at her mother.
Why did you give her both chicken drumsticks?
Song's mother's eyes sparkled. "Little Shadow, eat up! If your aunt comes looking for us, we definitely won't get to eat chicken, and we'll get a beating too."
"Okay, let's eat quickly." Song Yueying nodded seriously, waving the chicken leg in her hand. She said to her mother, "Let's each have a chicken leg and finish them quickly."
Song's mother was stunned for a moment, then shook her head and said, "No, no, no, I don't eat the chicken leg. Little Shadow eats it. The chicken leg is for Little Shadow."
"I only have one mouth, so eating two chicken legs is too slow. If we eat together, we can finish the chicken legs quickly with two mouths," Song Yueying easily fooled her mother.
After thinking about it, Song's mother felt that her daughter made sense, so she sat down with the chicken leg and began to eat it heartily.
Song Yueying also took a bite of the chicken leg in her hand, chewing the chicken meat while looking at her mother.
Who said the original owner's mother was crazy? She knew to give the best food to her daughter.
She is a perfect mother.
Seeing Song's mother finish the chicken leg in a few bites, Song Yueying asked with a smile, "Was the chicken leg delicious?"
"Delicious, the chicken legs are really good." Song's mother nodded vigorously. "They smell so good, they're so tasty. Little Shadow, you have to eat faster, eat more, okay?"
"Okay," Song Yueying replied softly.
After a while.
"I'm full, I can't eat anymore." Song Yueying threw the chicken bones in her hand on the table.
After swallowing the chicken meat, Song's mother put the chicken bones on the table. She urged her daughter, "Eat some more, Little Shadow. You're growing, you need to eat more."
"I'm full, I can't eat anymore." Song Yueying waved her hand and then let out a burp.
She really couldn't eat anymore.
Before Song's mother could say anything more, a loud banging came from outside the courtyard.
