Chapter 219 Call Me Sister

Qin Baojun looked on helplessly, "Why do you care what they say? We're just a family living our lives well, that's enough for us."

"I won't! I've kept a low profile in this village for so many years. They used to say we were stupid for raising Huai'er. Now that Huai'er has finally found her family, they laugh at us for our wasted efforts and even curse Qiqi and Huai'er to divorce. I've never said anything. But this time, I'm going to show them that Huai'er and Qiqi are doing well, and our whole family is doing well! I'll make them furious!"

Wang Guihua felt a sense of satisfaction just thinking about the dumbfounded faces of those villagers. She had really had a tough time all these years! This time, she finally got her revenge.

Qin Baojun knew that his wife had suffered so much over the years, so he just let her be.

"Qiao Qiqi, your letter is from Beijing." The postman suddenly stopped his car outside the Qin family's house and called out inside.

Upon hearing that she was from Beijing, Qiao Qiqi immediately ran out quickly.

She thought it was a letter from Fang Ke, but she never expected that the letter was actually sent by Qin Huai.

The letter said that the army had given him a stipend of 40 yuan. He said that the army provided him with food and lodging, so he didn't need to spend any money. He also said that he had money on him, so he sent back 50 yuan and asked her to pick it up at the post office in town when she had time.

He also told her to eat whatever she wanted, not to be stingy, to ask Zhang Qing for help if she needed anything, and to take good care of herself and not to overwork herself.

When Qiao Qiqi saw the letter, she felt a warm feeling in her heart. Seeing Wang Guihua looking at it expectantly, she handed the letter to her after reading it and immediately ran home to write back to Qin Huai.

She didn't really have much to say, so she talked about building the house and recognizing the Fang family. The last line she wrote was: I miss you so much. I think about you every day and look forward to the day you come back.

After writing the letter, Qiao Qiqi went to the town's post office that afternoon to collect the 50 yuan that Qin Huai had mailed back. She used the money to buy cotton shoes, cotton gloves, and five jin of pork for both sets of parents.

The weather is getting colder and colder, and pork can be stored for two or three days without any problem, so it's okay to buy more.

Today happens to be the Beginning of Winter, and Qiao Qiqi cooked a big pot of stew with chicken and fish, topped with steamed buns and filled with glass noodles.

Zhang Qing's family has been helping out for the past two months. Qiao Qiqi went over and planned to invite them all over to eat together, but Aunt Zhang refused to come no matter what. Only Zhang Qing and Er Lengzi came.

After Qiao Qiqi finished cooking, she packed a box and asked Qiao Weiguo to deliver it to Aunt Zhang.

Today happens to be Saturday, and Qiao Tianyou and Qin Guodong have both returned. The two children are having a great time playing with Er Lengzi.

Several families gathered together happily and enjoyed the meal immensely.

Wang Guihua was also very happy, but when she thought that her whole family was here except for her son Qin Huai, she felt like crying. But seeing that everyone was happy, she immediately suppressed her emotions and happily served everyone food.

At this moment, they were eating in the Qiao family's new house. Five days ago, Lin Chunying and Qiao Weiguo had moved back to live there. Qiao Qiqi vacated her own house for Wang Guihua and Qin Baojun, and moved to the Qin family's house herself.

That night, she lay alone on the kang (a heated brick bed) in the west room, and suddenly she thought of Qin Huai.

During the meal, she noticed that Wang Guihua was also thinking about Qin Huai. The thought that Qin Huai had only been in the army for a little over two months, and that they would not see each other for two years, made Qiao Qiqi feel that it was too long.

I wonder if it's because I think about it during the day and dream about it at night.

Of course, she dreamed of Qin Huai, but it was a nightmare.

She dreamt that Qin Huai was injured during training, and his chest was covered in blood.

"Qin Huai!" Qiao Qiqi was startled awake, her heart pounding wildly, feeling extremely uneasy.

The next day at daybreak, Qiao Qiqi couldn't wait to drive to town and call Qin Baoguo, asking, "Is everyone safe?"

Qin Baoguo smiled and said, "Everyone is doing well. How about you? After Miss Fang returned from Heilong City, she came to our house and told us about your house construction. Is it finished yet?"

"The second house will be finished soon, in about four or five days."

"That's good. Thank you for your hard work. I should have been in charge of this, but I just can't get away from it. If you need any help, please don't hesitate to ask."

Qiao Qiqi knew that Qin Baoguo meant money...

Before returning from Beijing, Qin Baoguo slipped her a savings book with 5,000 yuan, which startled her, but he insisted that she keep it.

Qiao Qiqi couldn't refuse, so she had no choice but to hide the bankbook in a drawer in the study.

"I'm doing fine. There's nothing major happening in the village. Winter is coming soon, so everyone's staying home to hibernate." Qiao Qiqi smiled, then asked about the old lady and the Fang family. Reassured to hear that they were both doing well, she felt relieved.

After hanging up, she called Fang Ke again.

Fang Ke was overjoyed to receive her call, "Quickly call me 'sister' so I can hear it!"

Fang Ke was the most excited when she learned that Qiao Qiqi was a member of the Fang family. She had been thinking that it would be great if Qiqi were her family, and she never expected that her words would come true.

"Sister," Qiao Qiqi called out obediently.

Fang Ke was overjoyed. "Sweetie, why don't you bring your second uncle and aunt to Beijing for the New Year? Let's have a family celebration together, okay?"

"I'll go back and ask my parents. If they agree, then I'll have no problem with it." Qiao Qiqi hadn't asked Lin Chunying and Qiao Weiguo, so she couldn't guarantee anything.

Fang Ke was immediately met with a cold shower. "My aunt said that my second uncle and aunt might not want to come. Anyway, I don't care. You have to come back either before or after the New Year. You promised me that."

Qiao Qiqi was both amused and exasperated. "I remember, I won't go back on my word."

"That's more like it."

The two chatted for a while and learned that Qiao Qiqi had built both houses. Fang Ke was full of admiration. "When I first met you, I thought you were a capable girl. I didn't expect that I was right. You are indeed my sister. You are amazing."

“That’s right, don’t you even know whose it is!” Qiao Qiqi readily agreed.

The two laughed and joked for a while, and when it was almost time to leave, they reluctantly hung up the phone.

Since she was in town, Qiao Qiqi thought she would buy some more meat to take back, but for some reason, as soon as she got close to the meat stall and smelled the greasy smell, she suddenly felt a little nauseous.

He quickly took two steps back, thinking that he had already bought meat yesterday, so he decided not to buy any more today.

Since all the vegetables in her space were ready, she found a secluded spot outside, took some out, and then rode her bike back to the village.

Every time she took out food from her space, Qiao Qiqi would lie and say that she had asked someone to buy it from the city.

Lin Chunying knew immediately that it must be expensive, and said, "Don't buy it anymore. We have plenty of dried vegetables at home. If you want fresh vegetables, we have cabbage and potatoes. We can eat whatever we can't finish."
