Chapter 86 Kneeling

Qin Huai's body stiffened.

Feeling the soft, sweet voice in my ear, and the breath on my neck and shoulders as she spoke, the temperature that had just dropped suddenly felt like it had been fueled and started burning fiercely again.

Especially when she slightly wiggled her hips, the friction almost made the man lose control and his rationality.

Realizing that he would really lose control if this continued, Qin Huai quickly let go of his hand.

As soon as the strength in her legs disappeared, Qiao Qiqi couldn't help but slide to the ground.

Her legs were still weak, and she instinctively grabbed the man's arm to steady herself.

The girl's slender, fair fingers gripped the man's bronze arm tightly; the stark contrast exuded a strong sense of ambiguity just by looking at it.

Qiao Qiqi felt short of breath again, and immediately bit her lip and stood up straight. "I'm going back first."

After that incident, she didn't want to wipe herself anymore.

Anyway, as long as the two of them are separated, her body temperature will naturally drop.

As Qiao Qiqi thought this, she quickly walked towards the door, but suddenly saw half a head flash past inside.

She quickly walked over and caught Chenchen just as she was about to climb onto the kang (a heated brick bed): "Why aren't you asleep yet?"

Thinking about what she and Qin Huai were doing in the courtyard just now...

Qiao Qiqi didn't know when Chenchen got up, and felt inexplicably guilty, afraid that she might have corrupted the child.

"I...I'm a little thirsty and want to drink some water."

Dinner was too lavish, and it's summer now, so it's normal for Chenchen to be thirsty. Qiao Qiqi keeps a glass of water at the end of the kang (heated brick bed) every day, and Chenchen gets up to drink it at least once every night.

"Wait on the kang (heated brick bed), I'll go scoop it for you."

There were only two cups in the house, and she and Qin Huai each used one, so there were no extras.

So Qiao Qiqi used a bowl to scoop a bowl of water into Chenchen's bowl.

Chenchen immediately gulped down half a bowl.

Qiao Qiqi placed the remaining half bowl directly under the kang (heated brick bed) cabinet, saying, "If you're thirsty tonight, you can take it and drink it yourself."

"Okay." Chenchen immediately closed her eyes and went to sleep.

Qiao Qiqi was also tired. Without waiting for Qin Huai to come in, she climbed onto the kang and lay down.

I slept well all night.

In the morning, as soon as Qiao Qiqi opened her eyes, she saw Xin Xin's sleeping face.

Qin Huai and Chen Chen's seats were empty; neither of them were there.

Qiao Qiqi was already used to Qin Huai getting up early. She carefully climbed out of bed, got dressed, and went out of the room.

I spotted Chenchen carrying a bucket of water and watering the vegetable garden right away.

Then I saw Qin Huai chopping firewood by the other side of the courtyard wall.

Qiao Qiqi walked towards him. "Did you two get up together?"

Qin Huai had already heard the commotion when Qiao Qiqi came out. When he saw her walk to his side, a deep look flashed across his eyes before he looked up after regaining his composure.

“I got up for a little while, and he got up on his own initiative to water the vegetable garden. I couldn’t stop him.”

Qiao Qiqi knew that Chenchen was trying hard to impress them and get them to keep him and Xinxin, but she was still conflicted about adopting two children she knew nothing about.

Fearing that Chenchen might overhear their conversation, Qiao Qiqi bent down and whispered in Qin Huai's ear, "After dinner, I'll go talk to Captain Su about this. You stay home and comfort them. Don't rush to send them away; they're quite pitiful."

Qin Huai nodded, "I'll listen to you."

Qiao Qiqi didn't have any good ideas for the time being, so she went to the kitchen and saw that Qin Huai had already cooked the sorghum porridge.

She was a little lazy, so she took two garlic eggplants that she had pickled the day before yesterday from the cupboard, and then picked two cucumbers from the vegetable garden to make cucumber salad. She had a simple breakfast.

Chenchen and Xinxin are not picky eaters and eat with great relish.

After the meal, Chenchen even took the initiative to clean up the dishes and wash them.

Qiao Qiqi didn't stop her. Before going to find Su Shangjin, she called Chenchen over again after Chenchen came out of the kitchen and asked him about his family situation.

Chenchen's answer was the same as last night.

They refused to say where their home was.

Qiao Qiqi couldn't do anything about it, but it was definitely not okay to just adopt two children like that; proper procedures were required.

I guess I need to go to the police station to handle it?

Qiao Qiqi and Qin Huai didn't know how many procedures were required, and they hadn't decided whether to adopt or not.

Therefore, Qiao Qiqi decided to ask Su Shangjin for advice first.

Thinking of this, Qiao Qiqi stood up, about to find an excuse to go out, when Chenchen suddenly knelt down in front of her with a thud.

"Sister, please take us in! I can work, I can go out with my brother-in-law to harvest the autumn crops! I promise I can earn money and support my sister and me, as long as you don't kick us out and give us a place to live."

Xin Xin was playing inside when she heard the noise outside. She immediately ran out and knelt down next to Chen Chen.

"Pretty sister, please don't send us away! Xin Xin doesn't want to go back! Xin Xin is so scared!"

Qiao Qiqi couldn't bear this, so she immediately bent down and picked Xin Xin up from the ground, saying, "You two get up first before we talk."

But Chenchen remained kneeling on the ground and refused to get up.

"Sister, if you don't trust me, you can let me stay for a few days first, and only let us stay if you're sure I can support myself and my sister, okay?"

Faced with the two children's pleading, Qiao Qiqi simply couldn't bring herself to refuse.

Just then, Qin Huai came over from the backyard, and she couldn't help but look at him for help.

Although the two are married, the house still belongs to Qin Huai, and Qiao Qiqi has only moved in a few days ago, so she feels that Qin Huai still needs to agree to this.

But when Qin Huai met Qiao Qiqi's gaze, he sensed a hint of pleading.

Looking into those big, watery eyes, he couldn't bring himself to refuse and could only compromise: "Let's let them stay here for 10 days before making a decision. If they can support themselves, there are vacant houses in the village where the siblings can move in."

Qin Huai moved out of her parents' house and lived alone at the age of 15.

Although Chenchen is only twelve years old, his ability to live independently with his younger sister for three years shows that he is quite capable.

Qiao Qiqi thought this was feasible, but she still needed to inform Su Shangjin first.

So she said to Chenchen, "You heard what your brother-in-law said. You two stay here for now, and we'll talk about what happens later!"

Chenchen naturally heard it, and seeing that the siblings could finally stay, she stood up.

To put their minds at ease, Qiao Qiqi stayed at home for a while before going out.

Su Shangjin was not at home at this time; he was at the commune brigade.

When Qiao Qiqi went over, she deliberately looked through the window and saw that there were people in the office, so she waited outside for a while.

I waited until the people inside came out before I went in.
