Chapter 26 Harmony between Mother-in-Law and Daughter-in-Law

Seeing that Wang Guihua had arrived so early, Qiao Qiqi and Qin Huai exchanged a glance.

The two turned and went out of the house, just in time to see Wang Guihua carrying a large bundle into the courtyard.

Qin Huai quickly stepped forward and took the bundle from Wang Guihua's hands. "Mother, why did you come so early?"

Before he could finish speaking, Qiao Qiqi poked him in the chest again.

She realized that her husband really didn't know how to talk, so she quickly and affectionately put her arm around Wang Guihua's arm and said, "Mother, Qin Huai and Zhang Qing went out to catch fish last night, they caught two whole basins of them. He made fish soup this morning, it smells so fresh. Please come in and sit down, I'll go and get you a bowl to try."

Although Qiao Qiqi had only met her mother-in-law yesterday, she could feel that her mother-in-law was genuinely kind to her.

People are all about reciprocity. If her mother-in-law treats her well, she will naturally be willing to treat her mother-in-law well and be filial to her.

Qin Huai was rebuked and looked completely bewildered.

The next second, he received a look from Qiao Qiqi, signaling him to lead his mother into the house first while she went to serve the soup.

But before Qiao Qiqi could let go, Wang Guihua grabbed her arm and said with a smile, "Mom just had breakfast and can't eat anymore. You guys eat yours, don't worry about me."

"A bowl of soup won't fill you up, and there's plenty left in the pot."

Qiao Qiqi didn't believe Wang Guihua couldn't eat. At this time of year, who wasn't tightening their belts to make ends meet? It was already good if they could eat until they were seven or eight tenths full.

Moreover, she knew from the original owner's memories that Qin Huai's family relied entirely on Wang Guihua to earn work points in the fields because Qin Baojun had lost his leg on the battlefield and could not do farm work.

Originally, with Qin Huai added, the three of them could have lived quite well.

Unfortunately, their situation was the same as Qiao Qiqi's family, with a bloodsucking old man, so their conditions were actually worse than other families.

How could anyone possibly be full?

But Wang Guihua held her hand and wouldn't let her leave, so Qiao Qiqi couldn't go to get the fish soup.

But she had a way. After pulling Wang Guihua into the house, she directly handed the bowl of fish soup that Qin Huai hadn't drunk to Wang Guihua, saying, "Mother, you drink Qin Huai's first, and let him go and get another bowl."

Qin Huai put down his bundle and looked at the scene before him, feeling a warmth in his heart.

Then she added, "Mom, please drink as much as you like. I brewed a lot, and I was planning to bring some over to you and Dad after dinner."

Upon hearing this, Qiao Qiqi chimed in, "That's right, there are so many fish, how could the two of us possibly finish them all? So please feel free to drink as much as you like, there's plenty to go around!"

Upon hearing this, Qin Huai subconsciously glanced at Qiao Qiqi.

My heart felt warmer.

At that time, every household was struggling to get enough to eat and wear. Even biological children would fight over a single bite of food, let alone the newlywed wife and mother-in-law. Most of them were estranged from each other.

In the village, it was common for mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law to fight fiercely over who hid food from each other.

Seeing that his wife is a good woman!

The moment she entered the door, she was already showing filial piety to her parents-in-law. How could Qin Huai not be touched?

Qiao Qiqi didn't notice Qin Huai's gaze, but Wang Guihua did.

Last night, she was overwhelmed with mixed feelings because of her son's sudden marriage registration. Although she was happiest that her son got the marriage certificate, she was also thinking about the rumors circulating in the village...

I'm afraid that even if the marriage goes through, it might not last...

But seeing how filial Qiao Qiqi was, Wang Guihua finally felt relieved.

Seeing her son and daughter-in-law staring at her, she finally smiled and nodded. "Alright, then I'll have a bowl. You two shouldn't stand there either; sit down and eat quickly, or it'll get cold."

“Okay, let’s eat together.” Qiao Qiqi also got onto the kang (heated brick bed).

Qin Huai then went to the kitchen to get another bowl of soup.

While drinking the soup, Wang Guihua was thinking about her son's cooking skills. She had eaten before, so she thought it was just something to eat to fill her stomach. But after taking a sip of the soup, her eyes lit up.

"The taste is actually not bad. When did this brat's cooking skills improve so much?"

Qin Huai happened to hear this sentence when he entered the room.

An awkward expression flashed across his face.

He subconsciously glanced at Qiao Qiqi's position.

Unexpectedly, Qiao Qiqi was also looking at him with a mocking expression.

Why the improvement? Isn't it because she finally bought all the ingredients? In Qin Huai's old kitchen, besides oil and salt, there wasn't a third seasoning. It would be strange if the food tasted good!

However, she didn't expose him directly. Instead, she smiled at Wang Guihua and said, "Mother, it tastes good, so please drink more. Qin Huai made a big pot of it."

"No need, Mother really ate a full meal before coming. You all eat, I'll go to the kitchen and clean the fish for you."

As Wang Guihua spoke, she finished a bowl of soup and then quickly rolled up her sleeves.

"These fish can't be kept for too long. I'll cut them all in half, sprinkle them with a thin layer of salt, and dry them into dried fish. That way, whenever you want to eat them, you can fry a couple and eat them with porridge. They taste great."

Qiao Qiqi quickly put down her bowl, "Mother, there's no rush about the fish..."

"Forget it." Qin Huai suddenly spoke up, stopping Qiao Qiqi's movements. "If you leave her in the house, she'll definitely find something else to do; she can't stay idle."

Reminded, Qiao Qiqi also thought of her biological mother from the 21st century and the original owner's mother, Lin Chunying. The three of them had almost identical personalities.

Having grown up in such a family, Qiao Qiqi knows all too well how stubborn her mother can be.

Realizing she couldn't stop them, she simply gave up.

She quickly picked up her rice bowl and ate, thinking that she should finish eating as soon as possible so she could help her mother-in-law.
