Chapter 5: Original owner, what else have you done?

The original owner was impulsive, stupid and brainless.

But Ji Ling was not like that. "Dad, you also think I can't get into college, right?"

Seeing that his sister was still excited, Ji Jianhua frowned and said, "Xiaoling, don't be ungrateful."

"Brother, you think dad is doing this for my own good, standing up to protect me, right? But in my opinion, dad and mom both think that I can't get into college, and mom says whatever she thinks. Dad is not as good as mom."

The implication is that Ji's father is a hypocrite and a fake good person.

Xu Fang ridiculed her husband, "You didn't believe me when I told you that you raised an ungrateful person. Now you see clearly, don't you?"

Ji Yong laughed, "Alright, alright, let's eat, eat."

With a bang, Xu Fang threw down her chopsticks. "Eat? Why eat? I'm already full of anger."

Ji Ling said, "Yes, I haven't made it clear yet. From the college entrance examination to now, my family has been saying that they care about me, but has anyone asked me how I did in the exam? Did you care about the estimated scores today? No, you just care about me finding a job as soon as possible. You asked me to go to the zipper factory to take the exam every day before the college entrance examination. Is this caring about me?"

"You're still excited, aren't you? Now you're complaining that we don't care about you, but why don't you think about what you did to your family last year?"

"Before the college entrance examination, your father and I took turns to take leave to cook for you and improve your meals. It took us half a year."

"When the scores were estimated, we asked you how many points you got. You complained that we put pressure on you and cried like crazy. But in the end, you got over 100 points. Who in your family dared to say a word to you?"

"I see you know you didn't do well in the exam, so you use this trick again?"

Ji Ling, who was originally righteous, opened her mouth: MMD, how could she know that the original owner had done such a stupid thing.

Seeing Xu Fang gritting her teeth and ready to pounce on someone and bite her, Ji Ling was extremely glad that she was a highly educated person.

She didn't say anything, but Xu Fang had something to say, "Go ahead, speak up. Why don't you say anything? You're not happy with us, right? Then tell me everything. I want to hear how we raised you wrongly."

Ji Ling was speechless: How can she make full use of the foundation laid by the original owner?

"Okay, the child did not do well in the exam, so she is anxious. We should understand her feelings at this time." Ji Yong winked at his daughter, signaling Ji Ling to lower her head.

She cannot bow her head. Ji Ling will not take the blame for what the original owner did.

But when facing Ji's father, she really judged him by her own standards.

Ji Ling talked about the matter at hand, "Let's not talk about the past. What I said about your actions this year was indeed correct."

Xu Fang sneered, "I don't know whether you are good or bad. Can you compare yourself to Xiao Ke?"

Ji Ling said, "From the perspective of blood relationship, there is no difference between us, because we both have half of our parents' genes, and the blood flowing in our bodies is our parents' blood."

Xu Fang: Pfft! Ji Jianhua couldn't help laughing. He was quite angry just now. He felt that his elder sister was so old and still had to go against her parents. Couldn't she be flexible?

But now, seeing his elder sister making his mother so angry that she couldn't say a word without showing any emotion, and talking back to his parents in a very unfilial manner, he just couldn't hate her. It also made him realize that he seemed to have never understood his elder sister before.

But to be honest, he prefers older sisters like this.

Ji Yong also smiled. He looked at his daughter gently. His daughter had grown up and became sensible. She no longer cried, jumped and made a fuss like before. This was good.

The originally bad atmosphere softened because of Ji Ling's "thick skin".

Ji Yong will go to Taipei City to catch the 5 o'clock train tomorrow. Ji Jianhua will drive his parents into the city, and the whole family will go to bed early after dinner.

However, before dawn the next day, Ji Ling was still grabbed by Ji Yong.

"Dad doesn't care about you. I just didn't ask you how you did on the exam because I was afraid you would feel stressed."

"If you don't do well in the exam, don't feel burdened. If you want to repeat your studies, your dad will support you."

At the same time, she also told her daughter, "When I'm not at home, don't talk back to your mother. Just let her talk. She'll stop talking when she's had enough."

"As for the zipper factory exam, don't show that you don't want to go. Your mother asked you to take the exam, so you should go. It's up to you whether you want to pass or not." Ji Yong explained everything in detail.

Fortunately, people are not confused.

Thinking about what she said during dinner last night, I felt guilty, "Dad, don't take what I said last night to heart."

"Silly child, you are my daughter, I won't blame you no matter what you say." Ji Yong secretly gave his daughter another ten yuan, "This is pocket money."

"Dad, my brother gave me ten dollars yesterday." Ji Ling pushed the money back.

"Just keep the money your elder brother gave you. He has money coming in now." Ji Yong insisted on putting the money into his daughter's hand, but still reminded her, "Spend the money in the right place, don't spend it recklessly."

Finally, he asked his daughter, "What do you want? Dad will buy it for you."

Ji Ling met Ji Yong's expectant gaze, which seemed to say "Go and beg daddy for a gift." After hesitating for a moment, she still satisfied his sense of accomplishment as a father, "If you have dried flower spices, bring me some back."

My daughter used to ask for pocket money, but now she wants dried flowers and spices. The change is quite big. However, as a father who loves his daughter, I will naturally satisfy her as long as she wants it.

He agreed readily.

The man had already left, but he turned back and said, "By the way, things are not peaceful nowadays. You know your mom's department store was robbed. I heard from your mom that one of the men had a thumb-sized mole on his chin. Be careful when you go out, and stay away from it if you see one."

After finishing his explanation, Ji Yong finally left.

In the early morning of the 19th, Ji Yong and his wife took their son's truck to Taipei City, and Ji Ling stayed at home alone.

Ji Ling arrived at the brick factory at 6:30.

She picked out the most worn clothes from the original owner's collection and put on knitted gloves she found at home. Moving bricks is physical work, so she came out in the morning and packed two steamed buns in a lunch box and some boiled water from a can.

It was a July day, and Ji Ling moved bricks for a whole morning under the scorching sun. It was a little strenuous at the beginning, but fortunately, she was young and soon caught up with everyone's pace. The owner of the brick factory was a little worried about her frail body, but after observing her for a morning, he found that the girl was very capable and didn't complain, so he stopped staring at her.

There was an hour and a half break at noon. The brick factory was on the street, and everyone brought their own lunch and rested under the shade of the trees, chatting while eating.

"Have you heard that a hospital in Taipei was robbed and two security guards were killed?"

"I also heard that they have wooden warehouses, and they are now circulating around."

"I heard that a wanted order has been issued and there is a reward for any clues."

"When you meet a desperate criminal like that, saving your life is the most important thing, who would care about the bonus?"

Most of the people moving bricks were unemployed middle-aged women. Ji Ling was the youngest among them and was not talkative. When she took a break, she would find a cool place to rest.

She had managed to get through the whole morning by gritting her teeth. She didn't want to waste the one and a half hours at noon, so she only ate one steamed bun and closed her eyes for a short nap.

The women not far away were originally talking and laughing, but gradually they saw the little girl lying down to sleep, and someone suggested that they take a rest as well.

My usual habits changed because of Ji Ling's arrival.

I took a nap at noon, which was just the right length and not too long. I also regained my energy to work in the afternoon.

When she got off work, Ji Ling took the dollar and smiled for the first time that day.

The days are long in July and it is still light at five o'clock.

The woman was in a hurry to go home to take care of her children and walked very fast. She met two men pushing bicycles heading out of the county. Ji Ling walked slowly and soon fell behind them.

As she passed by the two men, Ji Ling glanced at them out of the corner of her eye.

All I noticed was the man who was swearing, had a black mole on his pointed chin, and was muttering "Lu Po".

When cars drove on the muddy road during rainy days, deep tire marks were left after the road surface dried, making it very difficult to walk on.
