Chapter 167: Leaving without Saying Goodbye

The dim afterglow of the setting sun fell on the running girl, adding a touch of romance to her impatience.

"Zhou Rang, Rang Rang, I'm here." Su Nan opened the gate and shouted twice into the yard, but there was no response.

"Look at me, I'm stupid." The yard doors were all locked, how could there be someone inside?

Su Nan was ashamed of his own stupidity. He scratched his forehead, turned around, closed the gate, locked it from the inside, and then walked towards the room carrying Li.

After pouring herself a glass of water to moisten her slightly dry throat, Su Nan sighed comfortably. After sitting in the chair for a while, she thought about finding some clothes first, then boiling some water and taking a bath.

God knows how she managed to be "honest" with so many people during her time in the art troupe. The big bathhouse was definitely her nightmare.

Unfortunately, there was not even a place to cover it with a piece of cloth, so she always finished quickly, or went to wash early while others were still rehearsing. During the washing process, she had to be nervous all the time, paying attention to whether someone would suddenly come in.

In short, she didn't take a proper bath this week.

Su Nan stood up and walked to the wardrobe. As soon as he opened the door, he noticed that there was a large empty space inside, which was originally used to store Zhou Rang's clothes.

After standing there in a daze for three seconds, Su Nan didn't even have time to close the cabinet door. He hurried to the cabinet beside the bed and opened the drawer. Sure enough, his relevant documents were missing.

Su Nan looked at several places again, and all the things related to him disappeared without a single one left.

"No."

All kinds of bad guesses flashed through his mind. Su Nan shook his head vigorously to throw those distracting thoughts out of his mind.

She subconsciously touched the ring on her finger and the watch on her wrist, forced herself to calm down, and then began to search every corner of the room for notes or clues he might have left.

But the result was "nothing", she found nothing.

Su Nan ran out of the room, opened the gate, and ran desperately towards the Agricultural Bureau. When he finally reached the door of the Agricultural Bureau, he was told by the gatekeeper that everyone had gone off work.

Su Nan was holding onto a big tree in front of the Agricultural Bureau and gasping for breath. He felt extremely complicated, as if someone was strangling his throat and he could hardly breathe.

"Hey, girl, this is a colleague from your boyfriend's department. Ask him." The old man suddenly called out to Su Nan.

Su Nan responded and raised his head, and saw a middle-aged man carrying a briefcase walking out of the gate. It was obvious that he had just finished his work and was leaving.

As if grasping at a lifeline, she hurried over and said, "Hello, does Zhou Renran know you? I'm his girlfriend. Is he off work yet?"

The middle-aged man frowned upon hearing this, and said in a somewhat unhappy tone, "Are you his girlfriend? Comrade Zhou hasn't been to work for over a week. Don't you know? You really need to talk to him. He just started working and he's already taken half a year off. His work attitude is seriously problematic."

Originally, a young man came to the department, and he was very happy because he finally had someone to help with the chores he was supposed to do. But who knew that this person was just as useless as if he had not come.

He asked for leave after only two days of work. This time, he took leave for half a year.

What bad luck.

Su Nan no longer cared about what the middle-aged man said next. She stared blankly at him, turned around and walked towards Wutong Street like a zombie.

He’s gone, he’s gone. Why did he leave without saying goodbye?

Could it be that something happened suddenly in his family and he didn't have time to tell her?

Thinking of this, Su Nan calmed down a little. Zhou Rang was always so nice to her, he was definitely not a heartless man who would abandon his wife and children. She believed in his character.

It's okay, she can wait for him. Without his own explanation, she won't accuse him of anything.

Who would have known that we would not see each other for several years. Of course, this is a story for later.

The next day, Su Nan adjusted her mood and went directly to the photo studio to report for work. She temporarily rejected the invitation from the art troupe because there was no news from Zhou Rang yet. She had to wait for him to come before considering other things.

But for a whole week, not only did Zhou Rang not show up, there was not even a letter or a telegram.

Su Nan came out of the post office, holding a small package in her hand. It was sent from Shanghai, but the sender was not Zhou, but her parents.

Her mood now was mixed, with happiness at receiving care from her family, but also inexplicable disappointment.

"Xiao Su, what's wrong with you recently? You don't eat much for lunch every day and run outside." Jiang Hongqin looked at Su Nan coming in from outside in a daze and couldn't help but ask worriedly.

Hearing this, Su Nan forced himself to cheer up and put on a faint smile: "It's okay, I went to pick up the package my family sent me. It was supposed to be sent a long time ago, but there has been no news..."

Before she finished speaking, Su Nan suddenly lost control of her emotions and squatted down. The package fell to the ground with a "bang", but it couldn't cover up her crying.

Jiang Hongqin was frightened when she saw this. She didn't know why Su Nan suddenly broke down and cried like this.

"Xiao Su, don't cry. Tell me what's wrong." Jiang Hongqin went forward and hugged Su Nan, patting her back again and again without getting tired, trying to give her some strength.

Su Nan burst into tears, and Cang Qi's little face was full of tears. The moment he was hugged, he cried even harder, just like a traveler who was almost dying of thirst in the desert and came across an oasis. With someone to rely on, he could do whatever he wanted.

Su Nan reached out and hugged Jiang Hongqin tightly, burying his face in her arms.

Such a loud noise naturally alarmed Master Kong who was developing photos in the darkroom upstairs. He opened the door to check the situation, pondered for a moment, went downstairs to get some tissues, closed the door of the photo studio, and went upstairs to the darkroom, leaving all the space to them.

It was unknown how long Su Nan cried before she slowly calmed down. Jiang Hongqin quickly handed her a tissue and asked her to wipe the tears from her face.

"Thank you." The voice was undoubtedly hoarse and unpleasant after crying for a long time. Su Nan pursed her lips and wiped the tear marks on her face and nose with a tissue.

Notice that there was a large wet spot on Jiang Hongqin's coat. Su Nan was very embarrassed and took a new tissue to wipe her shoulder. She said in a deep voice: "I'm sorry, Sister Hongqin, I stained your coat. Let me take it to wash it for you."

Jiang Hongqin waved her hands, not really caring: "No need, I'll just rub it twice and it'll be fine. The key now is you, what's wrong, what happened, this is the first time I've seen you cry so hard."

Hearing this, Su Nan lowered his eyes, grabbed the tissue in his hand, and finally shook his head.

Seeing that she didn't want to talk any more, Jiang Hongqin didn't ask any more questions. She just patted Su Nan's shoulder and comforted her: "If there is anything you need my help with, just ask. I will definitely help if I can."

"good."
