Chapter 25: Ginger Soup Warms the Heart

"What's wrong?" Su Nan looked in the direction of the voice and secretly straightened his "injured leg" which he had bent just now for comfort.

Xiao Fangyun folded her umbrella, put it by the door, and then followed Liu Yu into the house.

The man told her everything that had happened recently.

"How can there be such a person? Instead of living his own life, he has to stir up trouble." Xiao Fangyun sat on the edge of the bed and slammed the table in anger, causing the thin paper to fly.

"There are all kinds of birds in a big forest." Su Nan narrowed his eyes and looked unhappy.

Who can keep a good face when their reputation is slandered outside?

"Yang Juqi is a notorious gossip in the village. I'm afraid this time her story will become known to everyone." Liu Yu sat on a wooden chair and sighed.

"That's nothing, just let them do what they want. Sister Xiaoyu, I'm really sorry that you've been isolated because Su Tiantian and her group don't like me." Su Nan collected his thoughts, grabbed Liu Yu's hand and shook it with a guilty look on his face.

Hearing this, Liu Yu waved his hand carelessly, saying unhappily, "Hey, don't say that. I don't want to be friends with people like them who talk too much."

Xiao Fangyun and Su Nan couldn't help but burst out laughing. The three of them looked at each other and shook hands tightly.

The little heads huddled together, discussing something in low voices.

"What are you talking about? I made some ginger soup. Come to the kitchen and have a bowl. It's easy to catch a cold if you get caught in the rain, so don't be careless." Li Cuiping leaned against the door and knocked.

"Okay, I'm coming." Xiao Fangyun raised her head and responded, then buried her head again.

"You little bastard, hurry up and chat, and then come out for a drink." Li Cuiping was so angry that she laughed. She knocked on the door again before turning around and leaving.

After a while, the three of them raised their heads with smiles on their faces, their eyes shining.

"Nannan, your idea is really good. Let's do it this way." Liu Yu rubbed his hands and couldn't wait any longer.

"Of course, the only one who can deal with gossips and scoundrels is Zheng Yuguang." Su Nan raised the corners of his lips, raised his eyebrows and sneered.

"I'll go get you some ginger soup." Xiao Fangyun stood up and pinched her neck which was sore from lowering her head for so long.

Hearing this, Liu Yu responded repeatedly, but Su Nan's face wrinkled and resistance was written all over his body.

"I didn't get wet in the rain, so drinking it won't do much good. Don't waste this good stuff. You guys drink it, drink more." Su Nan was afraid of bitterness and spiciness, and didn't want to drink the ginger soup that had both.

"That won't do. It's getting colder today. Drinking a bowl of ginger soup is good for your health. Just sit still. I'll be right back."

Xiao Fangyun put her hands on her hips and shook her head to reject Su Nan's "kindness". She stretched out her fingers and touched the tips of their noses, then walked straight out and went to Fangyi in the kitchen.

Li Cuiping stood in front of the stove, stirring the dark brown hot soup in the black pot with a spatula, while Luo Qiongzhi sat down to help light the fire.

When the two saw Xiao Fangyun coming in, they quickly took three bowls and put them on the table, and scooped three full bowls of ginger soup before they were done.

"Thank you grandma, thank you mom." Xiao Fangyun squinted her eyes and smiled, then picked up two bowls of ginger soup and walked towards her room.

After sending the meal off, he returned to the kitchen to get his own bowl of ginger soup.

As a result, as soon as he walked to the kitchen door, he was blocked by a tall figure.

"Zhou Zhiqing?" Xiao Fangyun covered her lips in surprise. She glanced at the big bag in his hand and understood everything.

Here to deliver something again.

"Shh." Li Cuiping ran out of the kitchen, pulled Xiao Fangyun in, and then closed the door.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Xiao Fangyun felt pain and rubbed her little arm, which had been pulled red.

Li Cuiping glanced at Zhou Rang's expression and whispered into her silly daughter's ear, "You silly girl, can't you see they're having a fight?"

"Who quarreled with whom?" How could she not know this?

Hearing this, Li Cuiping rolled her eyes speechlessly and didn't want to pay any more attention to her. She pushed Xiao Fangyun away, took out a large bowl from the cabinet, filled it with ginger soup and handed it to Zhou Rang.

"Come on, Zhou Zhiqing, drink quickly. Look at you, you're all soaked. I wonder if you can hide from the rain and come back later."

Li Cuiping complained while her hands were busy moving a stool with a towel.

Xiao Fangyun was standing aside holding a bowl when she noticed that water was dripping from Zhou Rang's black clothes, gradually wetting a small area of the floor.

I don't know how long it rained to get so wet.

"Thank you." A cold and hoarse voice sounded. Zhou Rang nodded, handed the things in his hand to Li Cuiping, and then sat down on the stool beside him.

He picked up the big bowl, which was filled with boiling hot ginger soup that had just been poured out of the pot, and blew on it gently in silence.

"Oh, did you bring Su Zhiqing's medicine as well? I was planning to ask Fang Chi to get it tomorrow." Li Cuiping happened to be packing up the things Zhou Rang brought, and she saw the tightly wrapped medicine bag at a glance.

Even with such heavy rain, it didn't get wet at all, which shows how much care the people who protected it have.

Li Cuiping glanced calmly at Zhou Rang, who was drinking ginger soup with his head down, and then she remembered that her son had been running to the mountains frequently whenever he had free time recently, using the excuse of looking for cicada pupae for his aunt, but actually looking for some fresh wild fruits to please someone.

Tsk, silly son, how can you compare to Zhou Zhiqing’s attentiveness.

"Yeah, I picked it up on the way." Zhou Rang's eyelashes trembled slightly, hiding the complexity in his eyes. He subconsciously drank a big sip of ginger soup and frowned because of the burn.

"Drink slowly, don't be in a hurry. It's raining so hard today that we won't be able to go to work." Luo Qiongzhi took the tongs and picked up a piece of firewood and put it into the stove. Seeing Zhou Rang's expression, she couldn't help laughing.

"good."

It was rare to see Zhou Zhiqing so obedient. Luo Qiongzhi adjusted her temper while casually asking, "You haven't reconciled yet? There's no need for so much bickering between young comrades. Why would a grown man like you bother with a little girl? Just say a few soft words, won't that be enough?"

Hearing this, everyone suddenly became quiet, stopped what they were doing, and stood there in a daze.

Luo Qiongzhi, however, didn't notice the strange atmosphere, nor did she respond to Li Cuiping's eye contact. She continued, "I've said too much. Don't be angry or annoyed. These are all experiences I've accumulated throughout my life, and they're all for your own good."

Zhou Rang said nothing and took a sip of the steaming ginger soup. A pungent spicy taste passed through his throat. Perhaps because it had been simmered for too long, the ginger flavor was particularly strong, bitter and astringent. It was not very tasty, but it was particularly effective in driving away the cold.

"We didn't quarrel." He finally explained.

Luo Qiongzhi snorted, seemingly disbelieving him. She glanced at him and said quietly, "Okay, okay, then why are you hiding from him? Why don't you go and see for yourself, but go around asking Uncle Fang Chi?"

"Mom, what does this mean? I don't understand." Xiao Fangyun looked at her grandmother and Zhou Zhiqing talking in confusion with a bewildered look on her face. She couldn't help but approach Li Cuiping and ask, while holding the bowl and drinking ginger soup in small sips.
