Chapter 4 Your delicate skin (1/2)

Ruan Jiaojiao first marinated the fish with seasonings so that the fish would be more flavorful when stewed later.

Then, I made a few cornbreads with cornmeal.

Da Bao and Xiao Bao had never seen anything like this before and found it fascinating. They had seen their friend's parents stew fish at their house before, but they always stewed it plain and the fish wasn't properly cleaned.

Even so, it still made the two little ones drool with envy.

Ruan Jiaojiao sautéed scallions, ginger, and garlic until fragrant, then stewed the fish in a clay pot. When the fish was almost done, she placed cornbread on the iron pot and garnished it with cilantro before serving.

The large sea bass taken from the space was delicious, and the iron pot from the countryside added iron to the fish soup. Before the fish stew was even cooked, Da Bao and Xiao Bao were already drooling uncontrollably.

"Mommy...you're a fairy..."

Xiao Bao excitedly hugged Ruan Jiaojiao's legs with both little hands, raised his head, and looked at Ruan Jiaojiao with adorable eyes.

Ruan Jiaojiao was almost melted by this scene!

Both little ones are incredibly cute, and even though they're dressed in tattered clothes, it's easy to see that they'll grow up to be the dream men of many girls.

"Why is Mommy a fairy?"

"Because only fairies would be so good to Xiaobao, hehehe..."

It's clear that Xiao Bao has been well protected by Da Bao, which is why he still retains a somewhat innocent and lively personality.

The braised fish in a clay pot is ready.

Ruan Jiaojiao scooped out several pieces of fragrant and plump fish meat, placed them in a bowl, poured broth over them, took two cornbreads soaked in fish broth, and finally prepared a bowl of water for each of the two little ones, saying, "Dabao, Xiaobao, you eat first."

Xiao Bao couldn't wait any longer, so he went over and stood in front of the table to start eating heartily.

They didn't have stools, so the two little ones had to eat standing up.

But Da Bao hesitated. When Ruan Jiaojiao asked him, she found out that Da Bao wanted to wait for Fu Ting to come back so they could eat together.

However, he was too embarrassed to say it because he was afraid that Ruan Jiaojiao would dislike Fu Ting.

In their hearts, Mom doesn't love Dad, so they definitely don't want to wait for Dad to eat, and Dad won't get any of the fish.

Mommy had finally started to treat them better, so Da Bao didn't want to say anything that would upset Ruan Jiaojiao, afraid that if Ruan Jiaojiao got upset, she would revert to her old ways.

Upon learning that his older brother would wait for his father to come home before eating, Xiao Bao suppressed his cravings and put down the fish and meat, saying, "Xiao Bao will wait for Dad to eat too!"

Ruan Jiaojiao: "..."

What has she done to deserve having two such adorable and sensible sons when she has never raised them for a single day?

Ruan Jiaojiao smiled and said, "You guys eat first. You're little kids, you need to grow tall, you can't go too hungry. Mommy's all grown up now, Mommy's not afraid. Mommy will wait for Daddy to come back and we'll eat together!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Ruan Jiaojiao could clearly see that Da Bao's eyes brightened.

It seems that every child wants a loving pair of parents. "A father who loves his mother" is the best way to raise a child well.

Fu Ting returned just in time; they had barely finished speaking when they heard him open the door.

"Daddy!~Daddy~"

Xiao Bao excitedly rushed out, gesturing wildly as he told Fu Ting about what had happened that day: "Mommy caught a fish, a really big fish! Mommy even turned into a fairy and made meat for Xiao Bao and his brother. It was so delicious! Daddy, come and try some too!"

"Mommy saved some for you too~"

Fu Ting: "..." Really?

He feels lightheaded when he walks now.

At the same time, Ruan Jiaojiao led Dabao out the door.
