In order to highlight the intelligence of the female protagonist Ruan Xiaodie, the original novel did not describe her appearance as particularly outstanding. In contrast, the female supporting character Ruan Jiaojiao's appearance can be described as "stunningly beautiful".
The author probably wanted to express that for a woman, inner qualities are more important than outward appearance. The idea is good, but the character of Ruan Xiaodie is utterly terrible.
Ruan Jiaojiao didn't seem to care much about the stares from these people. She asked a kind-looking old lady, "Grandma, where is Fu Ting? I'm his wife, and I've come to bring him food!"
"Me and my brother are here too, we've come to see Daddy!" Xiao Bao continued.
Da Bao and Xiao Bao each ate a chubby chicken leg, their little bellies were round and full.
Ruan Jiaojiao originally wanted the two children to rest at home, but the two little ones insisted on coming with her to see their father.
How old has this old lady lived? What kind of people hasn't she seen? Looking at Ruan Jiaojiao's sincere and unadulterated eyes, you can tell that she genuinely likes Fu Ting and has absolutely no ulterior motives!
I don't know where these rumors in the village came from, but they're really harmful!
"Honey, just follow this road, turn left, and you'll be there!"
The kind old lady gave Ruan Jiaojiao directions.
Ruan Jiaojiao said thank you, and then, before she could react, slipped a cloth bag into her basket.
By the time the old lady realized what was happening, Ruan Jiaojiao had already left with the two little ones.
The old lady opened the cloth bag and saw two warm, fragrant, and tenderly stewed chicken wings inside!
She had lived most of her life, and as a child she had been sold into marriage as a child bride. She had never eaten meat before, and this was the first time she had ever tasted meat in her life...
Unexpectedly, it was because I kindly gave that girl directions...
