Qin Ying was eating when she looked up at the door. She saw Lin Zhiqiang and Chen Xuanhan standing at the door, looking into the house.
Fu Hanzhou quickly put down the newspaper, stood up and walked towards the door, saying politely as he walked:
"What a rare guest, teachers, please come in."
Qin Ying walked over quickly and saw Wang Ruixiang and Xie Fangyuan following behind Chen Xuanhan and Lin Zhiqiang. She was stunned for a moment and quickly greeted them:
"Editor-in-Chief Wang, Section Chief Lin, Uncle Chen, you're here. Please come in."
After letting them into the house, she reached out and took Xie Fangyuan's hand, and asked quietly:
"Why are you here too?"
"You said you were the top scorer in the college entrance exam. I'd be remiss if I didn't come and share in your happiness."
Qin Ying was amused by her and pinched her face unhappily.
"I was planning to set up a stall this afternoon, but you came."
Before Xie Fangyuan could say anything, several people had already walked into the living room and sat down.
Xu Jinshu came out of the house when he heard the noise and was a little surprised to see these people.
Qin Ying has been fired. If these people come here now, they probably have no business coming.
Wu Ma poured them some tea, and the atmosphere in the room became quiet for a moment.
This was the second visit from the publishing house, and it seemed like every visit was unpleasant.
Wang Ruixiang was forced to swallow his pride and come here today. He secretly winked at Lin Zhiqiang, asking him to speak first.
Before Lin Zhiqiang could speak, Xu Jinshu smiled indifferently and asked without any emotion:
"Editor-in-Chief Wang suddenly dropped by my humble abode today. I wonder... what could you do for me?"
Thinking of Qin Ying being expelled, she was very angry. Although things had taken a great turn for the better, it was because Qin Ying was good enough. If Qin Ying was not the top scorer in the college entrance examination, this incident would still have a great impact.
I'm afraid she and Han Zhou may have already...
Xu Jinshu felt that she had done her best by speaking to them calmly.
If it weren't for Lin Zhiqiang and Chen Xuanhan, she probably wouldn't be so polite.
After all, she and Lin Zhiqiang have been dealing with each other for many years and are old acquaintances, so she cannot but give him face.
Wang Ruixiang felt overwhelmed when he saw Xu Jinshu was polite yet distant, and acted in a businesslike manner. He was afraid that he would have to waste some time arguing with him today. The Fu family was not someone he could afford to offend!
It’s all Chen Shuyun’s fault. She was so noisy and reckless, using him as a tool.
If I had known Qin Ying had such a strong background, even if she didn't have a diploma, I would have given her a permanent job, let alone a temporary one.
What's more, he is the top scorer in the college entrance examination. He has hit a wall.
Wang Ruixiang adjusted his mood, smiled broadly, and even sat up straighter. He said respectfully:
"Professor Xu, Comrade Qin Ying is an employee of our publishing house. She was the top scorer in this year's college entrance examination. When everyone in our publishing house heard about it, we were very happy for her, so we came here today to congratulate her."
Xu Jinshu twitched the corners of his mouth, and his smile turned sarcastic:
"Editor-in-Chief Wang, you're so thoughtful. We're deeply grateful for your kindness, but Yingying has been fired and is no longer your employee. There's absolutely no need for you to make such a big fuss."
Hearing the dissatisfaction in her words, Wang Ruixiang felt sweat starting to form on his forehead. He knew that his explanation was extremely far-fetched and even a bit shameful, but there was no other way. Even if Chen Shuyun didn't mention it, he would have to come. After all, he couldn't afford to offend both sides.
He put on a smile, lowered his posture, and said flatteringly:
"Professor Xu, Captain Fu, and Comrade Qin Ying, we are truly sorry. We have come to your house today not only to offer our congratulations but also to apologize.
Regarding Comrade Qin Ying's dismissal, on behalf of the publishing house, I express my deepest apologies. It's all my fault for not investigating the matter thoroughly, which led to a serious mistake. Comrade Qin Ying has suffered a great deal of injustice, and I feel extremely guilty.
Fu Hanzhou had previously analyzed that the publishing house would call her back to work, but she did not expect Wang Ruixiang to put aside his airs and come in person.
It seems that this is the influence of Fu Qixun. I am afraid that when she was expelled, Wang Ruixiang did not know her identity.
She found it a little funny, a real-life version of the bureaucracy's exposé. She looked at Wang Ruixiang with a calm expression and a lukewarm tone:
"Editor-in-Chief Wang, your previous statement was so decisive that I had no choice but to leave. Now that you've suddenly come to apologize, I'm quite surprised."
The smile on Wang Ruixiang's face froze for a moment, but soon it widened again, and his tone softened:
"Comrade Qin Ying, all my mistakes are my fault. I was blinded and made the wrong judgment. Please be magnanimous and forgive me this time."
"Editor-in-Chief Wang, this isn't something that can be dismissed as a simple misunderstanding. Qin Ying has endured undue pressure because of your decision."
Fu Hanzhou took over the conversation, looked at him with cold eyes, shook his head silently in his heart, and felt very helpless about him. Wang Ruixiang was also pitiful, caught in a dilemma, and begged for mercy from Qin Ying, a junior.
However, he shouldn't have just listened to what others said and made such an irresponsible move.
If Qin Ying did not have the Fu family as a backing, and did not have the top scorer in the college entrance examination to rely on, and fired someone for improper conduct, wouldn't it be an unrecoverable fate for an ordinary person?
In the final analysis, Wang Ruixiang is not to be pitied. It is all his own fault.
Fu Hanzhou's words made Wang Ruixiang's heart tighten inexplicably. Not to mention Fu Qixun, even if Fu Hanzhou was the head of a regiment, he couldn't fire Qin Ying. What had he done? Moreover, from what Fu Hanzhou said, he was very unhappy. He just nodded in agreement:
"Captain Fu, I know I was terribly wrong, so this time I came here to invite Comrade Qin Ying to return to the publishing house to continue working. Our publishing house has always valued Comrade Qin Ying's abilities. Without her, many of our work will not be able to move forward."
