Fu Hanzhou was quick-witted and quick-handed. He stretched out his long arm and grabbed her wrist. With a gentle pull, Gu Ping'an fell into his arms.
Her face was slightly flushed, and she lay on his shoulder with a bluff, as if she had been greatly frightened.
Fu Hanzhou pushed her away, but she held his arm tightly and said exaggeratedly:
"I was so scared. I was so nervous just now that I was only focused on admitting my mistake to you. I didn't react when you raised your arm. Han Zhou, thanks to you..."
She spoke shyly, her voice gentle and charming. She looked over Fu Hanzhou's shoulder at Qin Ying, with a hint of pride and provocation in her eyes.
Fu Hanzhou pulled back his arm, annoyance flashed in his eyes, and his voice came coldly:
"Ping An, is this your usual trick?"
Hearing his accusations, Gu Ping'an was struck by lightning. No matter how clever her methods were, she could not hide the embarrassment on her face. Just as she was about to say something else, she saw Fu Hanzhou striding upstairs.
She clenched her fists tightly and stood quietly for a while, only to find that Qin Ying was looking at her with an expression of anticipation.
She walked over arrogantly, with a hypocritical smile on her face, looking down at Qin Ying:
"Hey, why is Han Zhou suddenly angry? I meant well. The celebration banquet involves important military and political figures. I was worried that you're from the countryside and can't handle the event, so I wanted to help Han Zhou. I was afraid that you'd be busying yourself for nothing in the end."
Qin Ying didn't even raise her eyelids, her face expressionless, and she replied coldly:
"Comrade Gu Ping'an, please don't worry about our affairs. Han Zhou is not here, so you don't need to make your presence felt here."
Gu Ping'an's face froze. Qin Ying's tone was filled with indifference and disgust towards her. The corners of her slightly raised mouth suddenly pursed into a straight line. She stared at her sharply, angry and embarrassed:
"You! Qin Ying, don't be ungrateful. I'm helping you because I think highly of you!"
Qin Ying raised her head with a sneer on her face:
"Why don't you continue acting?"
