Chapter 282 It’s Your Turn

The room was so quiet that only the sound of rain could be heard.

Qin Ying stared at the flickering light and shadow on the ceiling, and suddenly grabbed his hand:

"Who is that?"

Fu Hanzhou pressed her hand to his chest and said firmly:

"Don't be afraid, I'll be watching personally this time."

The next day after breakfast, Xiaocheng hurriedly pushed the door open and walked in:

"Captain, the Security Department has just received a second anonymous letter."

Xiao Cheng saluted, his voice filled with anxiety:

"This time... the eyewitness said the person who dropped the letter was a man in costume."

Fu Hanzhou stood up suddenly, unaware of the wound on his abdomen.

"Costume?"

He repeated, and the moment he looked at Qin Ying, they both thought of the man in prison.

"Go check the performance records of the art troupe for the past week."

Fu Hanzhou stuffed his gun into his waist, threw back the quilt and was about to get out of bed:

"Especially people in costume."

Qin Ying looked at his bloody bandage, anxious:

"Go slower, the wound will open again..."

"Until you find out who wants to hurt you, this little injury is nothing."

Fu Hanzhou stood against the light, his jawline as cold and hard as a knife.

Xiao Chengli was leaving when he heard the sound of his running footsteps in the corridor.

Qin Ying helped him get out of bed slowly, but her mind was wandering.

Gu Ping'an is in the detention center, and a suspicious person appears in the art troupe. What secret is hidden behind this?

She recalled the scene of seeing Gu Pingan in the interrogation room and suddenly said:

"Gu Ping'an said that she applied for the art troupe because of you."

"slander!"

Fu Hanzhou pinched her chin and forced her to look up:

"She was 16 when she joined the art troupe. I was 19 and had been in the army for two years. I wasn't in Yancheng and was only transferred back two years ago. Her joining the art troupe had nothing to do with me."

He narrowed his eyes.

"Did she tell you this the last time you saw her?"

His fingers unconsciously increased their strength, and his thumb gently stroked her lips:

"That was her illusion, maybe it was Gu Zhenhua's idea!"

"Anyway, whatever you say is right. There's no evidence to prove it..."

Qin Ying muttered softly, looking as if she didn't believe it.

"What did you say? Speak louder!"

Fu Hanzhou's eyes were dangerous.

"I didn't say anything, I was just praising you!"

Qin Ying pulled the corners of her mouth together with a forced smile, looking angry but unable to speak.

Fu Hanzhou laughed helplessly:

"Can't I praise you louder than you can?"

Qin Ying rolled her eyes and ignored him, but she felt his warm palm rubbing her head.

"Art Troupe..."

He took out a silver brooch from his pocket - the one that Gu Ping'an had dropped, now rubbed to a shine.

"It's necessary to go see old friends."

Qin Ying's expression turned stern:

"Are you saying that there are Gu Ping'an's helpers in the art troupe?"

"Don't you think it's a coincidence? She joined the art troupe at the age of 16, and it's been almost ten years now. She has a lot of experience, and everyone who sees her has to call her Teacher Gu. Besides, she has no shortage of suitors!"

Fu Hanzhou said as he slowly put on his clothes.

Qin Ying didn't say anything for a long time. This was a point they had overlooked, but Fu Hanzhou's injury could not be treated in a hurry.

She grabbed his cuffs:

"Your injury hasn't healed yet, you can't go far!"

"Until she speaks, this little bit of blood is nothing!"

Fu Hanzhou put the brooch into her palm:

"Prepare the car and go to the detention center. I want to ask what Gu Ping'an's old partners are up to lately."

Qin Ying was really worried about the wound, so she followed him anyway.

When he arrived outside the detention center, the blood stains seeping from under Fu Hanzhou's military uniform had spread to his waist. The dark red marks were like poisonous tongues entwined on the fabric, hideous and shocking.

He pressed his palm against the mottled iron door, and the rust on his palm made it numb. When he took a deep breath, the severe pain from the wound surged like a tide, almost making him lose his balance. Just as he was about to lift his foot, Qin Ying suddenly grabbed his sleeve with astonishing force.

"Xiaocheng and I will go in together."

Qin Ying's voice was low and firm.

“You don’t have to…”

Before Fu Hanzhou finished speaking, Xiaocheng interrupted him:

"Captain, your wound is still bleeding. I can at least lend a hand."

Xiaocheng said this and looked at Qin Ying.

The moment their eyes met, a silent understanding flowed - given Gu Ping'an's current crazy state, Fu Hanzhou must not be left to face it alone.

The police officer on duty was about to stop him, but after glancing at the shining medal on Fu Hanzhou's chest, he silently gave way.

The iron gate slowly opened, making a teeth-grinding creaking sound like crying, as if foreshadowing the coming of a storm.

The three of them passed through three iron doors with copper locks, and Qin Ying was placed in the observation room outside the interrogation room.

The half-open wooden door was like a prying eye, through which Gu Ping'an's shrill laughter could be heard unimpeded, the voice filled with madness on the verge of collapse.

The smell of disinfectant and mildew lingered in the air, and the flickering incandescent light overhead cast distorted, ghostly shadows on the ground.

Xiaocheng held Fu Hanzhou's arm tightly, and the two walked into the confinement room together.

The heavy metal door slowly opened, and a cold, damp air mixed with the smell of rust hit me in the face.

Gu Ping'an curled up in a moldy corner, with a crazy smile on his pale face.

The cement wall in front of her was covered with crooked carvings of the word "Qin". Each stroke was deeply embedded in the wall. There were still traces of dark red blood in the cracks of her fingernails, silently telling how these words were carved by hand.

Hearing the footsteps, Gu Ping'an suddenly looked up, and a fanatical light instantly burst out in his eyes, as if a drowning man saw a piece of driftwood.
