Chapter 55 Gu Chijin was beaten

The design draft on the paper had smooth lines, which was very different from Shi Qi's style. She frowned and looked at it for a while, then looked at the closed door.

There are only Grandpa Gu and Gu Chixin at home, and Grandpa Gu will definitely not touch him.

The only one who painted this was Gu Chixin.

Ask him later.

Putting down the design draft, Shi Qi saw that it was almost five o'clock, so he went to the kitchen to stew the meat.

She finally bought some pork ribs today, and she planned to make some potato and pork rib soup.

There is no chili in the potato and pork ribs soup. Shiqi added ginger and garlic to remove the fishy smell, then increased the heat and put the pork ribs in.

After cooking for about ten minutes, water ripples appeared in the pot. Shi Qi used a spoon to skim off the foam from the ribs and added another ladle of water.

The aroma of meat filled the air. Grandpa Gu woke up and came out with Gu Chixin. Seeing Shi Qi stewing meat again, he laughed happily:

"Shi girl, my second son and I are coming over here. You stew meat every day. When we go home, I'm afraid you won't be used to the plain soup at home."

Shiqi covered the pot, looked up and said with a smile:

"Then Grandpa, you and your brother can stay in the military dependents' compound for a few more months. Gu Chijin and I will take good care of you."

"That won't do." Grandpa Gu was worried about someone and didn't want to stay here for long.

"The second son and I are here specifically to visit the eldest son. We will stay for another half a month at most and then we will go home.

Your grandmother and I have been married for fifty or sixty years and we are rarely apart.

I feel bad that I didn't bring her with me this time."

Shi Qi smiled. She knew that Gu Chijin's grandparents had a good relationship. They got married during the war years and had experienced national justice and personal life and death. Their deep feelings were incomparable to those of ordinary couples today.

"Okay, then next time Gu Chijin and I will go home and stay with you and grandma for a while to make up for this regret."

He agreed with a smile and found a pocket to put the meat in.

"Grandpa, please watch the fire for a while. I'm going to return the things I borrowed yesterday."

She borrowed meat and eggs from Bai Xiaohua yesterday and hasn't returned them yet. Now that the sun is setting, she should go and return them.

Grandpa Gu nodded, walked into the kitchen, glanced into the pot, and readily agreed:

"Okay, go ahead. I'll watch from here."

"Chi Xin, do you want to go out for a walk with your sister-in-law?"

Although he knew that Gu Chixin was mostly unwilling, Shi Qi still asked before leaving.

Gu Chixin took a step back and looked at her without saying anything, obviously rejecting her invitation.

Grandpa Gu snorted, patted Gu Chixin's shoulder, and said to Shi Qi:

"Ignore him and go about your business. It's not convenient for you to take him with you and keep an eye on him."

Shi Qi was not afraid of the inconvenience, he just thought it was not good for a thirteen or fourteen-year-old child to stay in the house all day, so he wanted to take him out for a walk.

But since others are unwilling, she can't force them.

Carrying meat and eggs, and a pound of sugar bought from the city, Shi Qi walked out of the yard and headed towards Bai Xiaohua's house.

When Bai Xiaohua saw Shi Qi coming to exchange things, he was unhappy and thought she was too distant. But when he heard Shi Qi say that it was the idea of the elders in the family, he did not insist on refusing it.

After taking the things, Bai Xiaohua asked about the decoration of her storefront.

When she heard that Gu Chijin was helping her watch over him, her impression of him improved a little.

The sky is covered with colorful clouds, large patches of which are crowded together, reflecting colorful light.

The Gu family yard was filled with orange glow.

When Gu Chijin returned to the military family compound, Shi Qi's last dish of stir-fried beans was already ready.

As soon as he arrived, we could clear the table and have dinner.

He was in good spirits today. During the meal, Grandpa Gu picked up some questions he wanted to ask and asked Gu Chijin some questions.

Most of them were about his life in the army.

Finally, when he put down his chopsticks, Grandpa Gu asked Gu Chijin to go out for a walk with him after finishing his meal.

After arriving at the military family compound, Grandpa Gu didn’t look around.

Gu Chijin didn't think much about it. After finishing his meal and clearing the dishes with Shi Qi, he led his grandfather and brother out.

It was only seven o'clock in the evening. The days were long and the nights were short in summer, so it was not dark yet.

After seeing them leave, Shi Qi prepared the cloth for making clothes at home.

The facade will begin to be built tomorrow and the plastering will begin the day after tomorrow.

If the weather is nice, you can dust the floor and let it air out for four or five days before you can go in and start cleaning and arranging things.

Shi Qi had made all the arrangements. After she was done with her work the next two days and the clothes had dried for four or five days, she would go home and make clothes for her grandfather and the others.

"Son, tell me the truth, are you still blaming me?"

The three of them were walking on the public trail in the military family compound. Grandpa Gu looked at his eldest grandson's serious face and suddenly asked a question.

Gu Chijin's mind was full of the image of Shi Qi picking out dishes for the three of them during dinner. When he heard what his grandfather said, he was still a little confused.

"Why do you blame me?"

Gu Chijin looked at Grandpa Gu, and upon seeing the old man's serious face, he understood:

"You mean, my marriage to Tokisu?"

The eldest grandson looked puzzled. Grandpa Gu sighed and nodded:

"That's it. This time when I came here, I saw that you and Shi Yatou didn't quarrel as often as before, but Grandpa could see that Shi Yatou was obviously not as enthusiastic towards you as before.

Tell me the truth, in the past two or three years in the military family compound, have you done anything wrong to neglect Shi Ya?"

Gu Chijin felt bitter in his mouth. His grandfather could see it at a glance, and Shi Qi showed it very obviously.

Gu Chijin's silence was seen as a tacit agreement by Grandpa Gu.

The old man was furious. He took off his shoe sole and slapped Gu Chijin's back two or three times:

"Okay, I guessed right! How dare you bully Shi girl behind my back?

Don't you know that Shi Yatou is the granddaughter of my old comrade? If you treat her like this, how can I face her grandfather in the future? "

When Grandpa Gu was young, he was a soldier on the battlefield and had great strength. Now that he is old, his charm is still as great as before.
