Chapter 47 Chang Qin

Chapter 47 Chang Qin

Sang Xing looked the newcomer up and down; he wasn't from the circle.

The suit he was wearing wasn't some expensive haute couture, so he was probably some nobody from a small family who was just there to piggyback on the charity gala's fame.

“Sir,” Sang Xing said with a forced smile, his bodyguards behind him carrying a hint of threat, “you’d better take another route.”

The man was somewhat troubled. "It seems like this is the only entrance to the bar, right? If I don't go this way, there's no other way to get there."

Chen Zheng abruptly shook off Sang Xing's arm that was holding him, making way for the man.

Sang Xing was almost amused by Chen Zheng's insistence on going against them.

The man gave Chen Zheng a friendly smile. "Thank you."

"Assistant Chen, you're quite the player, aren't you?" Sang Xing was on a mission and wouldn't let Chen Zheng leave easily unless he embarrassed himself. "Where did you get the nerve to—"

Just as Sang Xing was about to raise her hand to attack Chen Zheng again, the strange man who walked in through the door suddenly moved.

"Hey, hey, hey," Xin Que still had a kind expression, raising her hand as if to mediate a fight to block Sang Xing's waving hand for Chen Zheng, "Why are you resorting to violence when you can talk things out?"

Sang Xing's face had turned a deep purplish-red.

The man opposite him seemed harmless, but his hands were like iron clamps, twisting his knuckles in the opposite direction. The sharp pain from the friction of his knuckles spread from the base of his fingers to his whole body, making him almost lose his balance.

Chen Zheng was already prepared to confront Sang Xing when he was suddenly protected behind him, and he was stunned for a moment.

"Wait!" Chen Zheng immediately stepped in to mediate, fearing that the man would be implicated. "Sir, this is a family matter of the Song family. Please leave."

Xin Que, acting as if nothing had happened, pried Sang Xing's hand off and turned to look at Chen Zheng, "You've been bullied to the point of being rude, and you're still so good-natured?"

Chen Zheng's pupils widened suddenly. He didn't have time to answer Xin Que's question. His eyes were only on the bodyguard next to Sang Xing swinging his fist at Xin Que. He instinctively tried to pull Xin Que away, "Watch out!"

Xin Que didn't move his feet. Instead, he forcefully pulled Sang Xing forward with his hand that was twisting his knuckles. Sang Xing was already unsteady, and Xin Que's sudden force caused him to stagger two steps and be pulled directly behind Xin Que.

The bodyguard's punch landed squarely on Sang Xing's back.

Xin Que finally released her grip on Sang Xing, grabbed Chen Zheng and pulled him inside the door, coldly watching Sang Xing fall directly into the booth.

"Splash—"

The vase decoration on the table was knocked to the ground by Sang Xing's movements, and the sound of shattering glass drew everyone's attention to the doorway.

Luo Huayi's booth was facing away from the door. He gripped his half-empty wine glass tightly, his fingertips turning white from the involuntary tension.

He didn't turn around, but his mental reaction had already given him the answer.

Xin Que must have been involved in that farce at the entrance.

Is this another twist in the plot?

Xin Que was being harassed by her younger sister. Was she going to be pushed by the plot to confront Xin Que again?

Luo Huayi slowly placed the wine glass in her hand on the table, the glass clinking together with a crisp sound.

Realizing he had accidentally injured an ally, the bodyguard disregarded Xin Que and Chen Zheng and immediately went to help Sang Xing, asking, "Are you alright?"

Sang Xing angrily shoved the bodyguard aside, pointed at Xin Que and Chen Zheng's noses, and cursed, "You dare to lay a hand on the Song family... If I don't teach you a lesson, you won't know your own limitations!"

Cheng Zheng subconsciously stood up. "President Luo, the one who was beaten is Sang Xing, Mr. Song Wenxian's special assistant."

Luo Huayi was taken aback, still pondering what methods the plot would use to force him to help Xin Que out of the predicament. He subconsciously assumed that someone had stood up for Xin Que. "What?"

Just as he was about to turn around, the man, who had been curled up, flew directly into the booth next to him.

Luo Huayi: "???"

Holy crap.

I almost forgot that Xin Que was no ordinary person.

Cheng Zheng silently sat back down opposite Luo Huayi.

"Splash—"

The guests nearby were craning their necks to watch the commotion when they were startled by the man who suddenly flew onto their table. Glasses and utensils shattered on the floor, and everyone screamed before grabbing their bags and running towards the door.

Sang Xing stared blankly at the bodyguards who staggered up from the booth, completely stunned. Her chest heaved violently, and for a moment she didn't know whether to continue to attack them.

Xin Que smiled and lowered his hand that was protecting Chen Te Zhu. "Brother, if you still want to fight... shall we go out and have another good match to satisfy our cravings?"

The bodyguard limped over to Sang Xing's side, both of them with ashen faces. After whispering something to each other, they pulled Xin Que away from the bar.

Chen Zheng was still in shock.

“You…” Chen Zheng glanced at the man’s unremarkable attire and guessed that he was probably a clueless young man with no background. “Why do you have to stand up for me?”

Chen Zheng's expression was somewhat complicated. Having followed Song Wangyuan, he had witnessed both highs and lows, and had also been taken advantage of when he was down.

People in this circle are all incredibly shrewd; it's already quite kind of them not to help Song Wenxian put them down.

The person next to him disregarded everything and stepped in to beat the man back.

I guess they haven't witnessed Song Wenxian's arrogance yet...

Chen Zheng sighed. After all, the other party was a friend who had gone to great lengths to help. "What's your name?"

"Please contact your manager," Chen Zheng gestured to the bartender. "I'll take responsibility for the damage here."

As he spoke, Chen Zheng gestured for Xin Que to join him, "Do you have some time? I'll treat you to a drink."

Xin Que followed Chen Zheng, still wearing that kind smile, "Okay."

The two figures gradually disappeared into the distance.

When Luo Huayi turned around, she only saw their backs as they walked into the private room.

"The script isn't quite right," Luo Huayi thought, increasingly puzzled, her CPU nearly overheating. "Shouldn't it be that Xin Que is being bullied and then..."

Was she rescued by a hero?

But looking at Chen Zheng's grateful expression...

Why is Chen Zheng the one who seems more like the beauty in the hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress story?

He suddenly recalled the memory of being forcibly kissed by Xin Que in the secret room.

Luo Huayi grabbed the wine glass in front of her to cover her twitching mouth.

When Cheng Zheng looked up, he saw Luo Huayi's face contorted in a grotesque expression as if she had seen a ghost, and he was filled with questions.

Following my boss's gaze, I looked into the private room, just as the door closed.

What's going on?

"My surname is Chang, and my given name is Qin." Xin Que accepted the wine cup filled with wine from Chen Zheng. Although her attitude was casual, her manners were impeccable.

“Mr. Chang Qin, thank you for helping me tonight,” Chen Zheng relaxed, a genuine smile appearing on his face. “I am Chen Zheng, you can just call me by my name.”

Xin Que had no intention of cultivating a bond through shared hardships with him, and went straight to the point, "Why did you offend Song Wenxian's people?"

Chen Zheng's smile faltered for a moment, then quickly returned to normal. "Since Mr. Chang can recognize Young Master Song..."

Xin Que put down her half-empty wine glass. "I didn't save you because I'm so kind. It's just that I have a grudge against Song Wenxian. I don't like him, so I just do."

Chen Zheng was taken aback.
