Chapter 7 Opening a Deal

Chapter 7 Opening a Deal

The man's expression shifted a few times before finally hardening. "How much do you want to teach these little bastards a lesson?"

Xin Que stood under the shade of the tree, her sharp gaze sweeping over the man's clothes.

Her mouth moved faster than her brain, and she instinctively blurted out a very familiar response, "How about we set a price based on the results of this order?"

After saying that, Xin Que herself was stunned for a moment.

It seems I wasn't exactly a nice guy before I transmigrated.

“This is my daughter,” the man said, his movements trembling as he searched for pictures on his phone. “Her mother and I made a little money from our business, and we wanted to transfer her to a good school… I thought that if other people have it, my daughter should have it too.”

"Who knew that after she transferred schools..."

Xin Que took the phone and quickly skimmed through all the information he had compiled. "Bullying? No, that's not right..."

The girl in the phone photo had several bandages wrapped around her youthful face, her eyes closed, and she lay quietly on the hospital bed. The instruments around her showed that her condition was not good.

It's not just simple bullying.

According to the medical report the man took, she is now permanently disabled.

“A little bastard was pursuing her, and after my daughter rejected him, he held a grudge,” the man’s voice began to tremble. “A group of people tried to harm my daughter, driving her to the brink of suicide…”

Xin Que zoomed in on the last chat screenshot.

It seems that someone from the school came forward and said that the girl accidentally fell from the building, and that the surveillance cameras were broken and could not be verified.

She frowned as she looked at the picture. "How many people are there? Is it possible to find their information?"

“All three of them have connections,” the man’s shoulders slumped. “The one who was in charge has ties to the Zhou family and has been released on bail pending trial… The lawyer said they are all just kids and it will be difficult to sentence them to prison.”

"The remaining two were also protected... You should have heard of the Zhou family's business; they and the Luo family are considered the leading businesses in the city."

"We can't even make a ripple against them."

“Alright,” Xin Que didn’t care how powerful the other party was, only how much she could earn from this job. “I’ll take it.”

The man was taken aback; the other person's nonchalant attitude made him wonder if he had encountered a scammer.

“This is my contact information,” Xin Que said, typing her phone number into his phone. “I’ll get some results for you first, so you won’t think I’m a scammer.”

The man stared at the string of numbers on his phone screen, still somewhat dazed.

"I've noted down your daughter's information. I might need to use her identity sometime." Xin Que waved to him and then left.

Whether what this person said is true or false is still unknown; she has to go to that middle school to check herself.

Luo Huayi and Cheng Zheng just got off the cable car and started climbing the winding mountain road.

Wearing a mask and a red vest, Xin Que leisurely walked down the mountain with a trash can in hand.

The two sides passed each other by.

Cheng Zheng led Luo Huayi directly to the back of the temple. "President Luo, this is the abbot, Daoist Xuan Yunzi."

An elderly man in a Taoist robe, looking quite sprightly, stepped forward. "What brings this wise teacher here in such a hurry?"

Luo Huayi recounted her ordeal of being trapped in the hotel the previous night in detail.

Xuan Yunzi fell silent, his fingers constantly calculating.

"That shouldn't be the case..." The old man frowned slightly, his suspicious gaze sweeping over Luo Huayi.

Luo Huayi's gaze fell on the two-person-high statue in the side hall.

The statue was furious, its hair standing on end, holding a ritual implement high in its hand, its eyes wide open as it looked down. From Luo Huayi's perspective, it seemed as if it was staring back at him.

The sun was already setting in the west, and the golden light shone through the dense foliage, swaying and falling in front of Luo Huayi's eyes, adding a dazzling hazy feeling to her vision.

Visitors still come and go in the front yard, praying and sightseeing, creating a lively atmosphere.

But when Luo Huayi saw the ferocious statue of a god framed in the center of the side hall, he felt an absurd sense that everything was drifting away from him.

【she is......】

......

When Luo Huayi and Cheng Zheng left Wuxiang Temple and descended the mountain, Cheng Zheng was still pondering why the old man had suddenly fallen silent.

"President Luo?" Cheng Zheng noticed that Luo Huayi's mental state was not quite right and asked.

"It's nothing," Luo Huayi suddenly snapped out of her daze, only then realizing that she had been absent-minded the whole time. "Let's go back."

"By the way, the party that President Zhou had arranged for you to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow has to be canceled because of some family matters." Cheng Zheng remembered the message Zhou Zichuan had asked him to pass on.

Luo Huayi's attention was briefly drawn to her friend's family affairs. "Isn't he always so enthusiastic about going out for meals and having fun? Why would he cancel it on his own initiative... What could be so important?"

I called Zhou Zichuan, and he sounded a bit annoyed. "Don't even mention it, my sister got me a really tough job."

"I have to clean up her mess."

Luo Huayi subconsciously asked, "What happened? Why did you have to come in person...?"

"It's all because of her..." Zhou Zichuan thought for a moment and decided not to air his dirty laundry in public, so he didn't continue. "It's nothing serious. You should get some rest. I'll come see you another day."

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Zichuan looked at the nonchalant Zhou Ziyan with a look of utter disappointment. "You've really made something of yourself, huh? It's one thing to hang out with those nouveau riche second-generation heirs, but you even acknowledge them as your brothers and vouch for their affairs?"

Zhou Ziyan wanted to retort, but seeing Zhou Zichuan's gloomy expression, she knew he was truly angry.

She immediately shrank back, giggling and acting coquettishly with her brother, "It's not a big deal... Besides, I was just upholding justice, wasn't I?"

"That woman is like a toad trying to eat swan meat. She has a little money and keeps pestering Xiaoqing. Xiaoqing had no choice but to come to me for help..."

Zhou Zichuan slammed the documents in his hand in front of Zhou Ziyan.

"Look at yourself!" His face turned ashen. "Is this the girl you were talking about who was throwing herself at you?"

When Zhou Ziyan saw the printed surveillance screenshot, her previously joking expression turned serious. "Brother, where did you get this?"

"Your so-called sworn brother is a complete liar. He and two other brothers locked the stairwell door and tried to harass some young girl. When she refused, they pushed her off the fourth floor!"

"You'll be permanently disabled, and you're still laughing and joking with me?!"

Zhou Ziyan finally showed a slightly guilty expression, but she still stubbornly refused to admit her mistake. "Don't just listen to that family's side of the story! Xiaoqing's family is in real estate. What kind of people haven't they seen? How could they possibly be interested in a woman with no means of support or background?"

Zhou Zichuan scoffed, "I'm not going to discuss this with you. Where did you get the audacity to use the Zhou family's name to protect them?!"

Zhou Ziyan said matter-of-factly, "They've come to me for help, and besides, you've helped me out of many troubles before. My brother is so capable, how could he be tripped up by such a small thing?"

"Brother, dear brother!" Zhou Ziyan came up to her with a pitiful look on her face. "Don't push all the blame onto me... When you were in school, weren't Mom and Dad always cleaning up your messes?"
