Chapter 5 Spending Time with Family

Shi Xi hesitated whether or not to go and greet Di Chenxiao.

Qin walked silently towards her, waved his hand in front of her eyes, and asked, "Xiao Xi, what are you thinking about? You seem so engrossed."

Shi Xi snapped out of her reverie. Di Chenxiao must have something to do, so she decided not to bother him. She'd better avoid hanging around the big shot. "I wasn't thinking about anything. Mom, why did you come to pick me up?"

Qin Momo said regretfully, "I didn't see you off this morning, but I'll definitely come to pick you up this afternoon."

"Mom, you're so good to me!" Shi Xi said as she walked, her arm around her mother's.

Qin said affectionately, "Silly girl, this is what I call being good to you. From now on, I will make up for the regrets of the past eighteen years."

"Be careful not to hit your head." The driver tried to shield the roof with his hand, but his mother did it first.

The driver started driving after they were seated.

"Xiao Xi, are you hungry? These are some pastries I made. Have some first. We'll eat right away when we get home," Qin Momo said as she opened the pastry box and handed it to Shi Xi.

The pastries are small and come in various animal shapes, which look very cute.

Shi Xi took one and put it in her mouth, mmm—

It melts in your mouth, sweet but not cloying, so delicious.

Take another piece and eat it.

Qin Momo watched her daughter eat happily, and she was happy too. "Eat slowly, don't choke."

"Mom, you should eat too." Shi Xi took a piece of pastry and fed it to her mother.

"Little Xi is such a good girl." The mother ate slowly, her heart filled with satisfaction.

The driver was overjoyed; the young lady had forgiven the lady.

The car was filled with happiness throughout the journey.

When Shi Hongguang saw them get out of the car, he quickly walked towards them and said with a smile, "You're back. My dear daughter, were you tired at school? Did any classmates bully you? You must be hungry after a long day at school. Your older brother has already prepared dinner, so we can eat as soon as we get back."

Shi's mother took Shi Xi's hand and led her inside.

"Can you stop nagging? Can't you see our daughter is tired? Besides, it's so sunny, what if she gets a tan?"

Shi Xi looked at the afterglow of the setting sun—well, if her mother said the sun is the sun, then it is the sun.

The table was already laden with appetizing dishes—eight dishes and a soup, more than enough for five people.

That's right, there are five people. Second brother Shi Han has returned from Imperial University. He's a junior this year, and he recently represented Imperial University in an international competition. Therefore, Shi Xi hasn't seen her second brother yet.

"My sister is back. She's just as I imagined. Pure and innocent, breathtakingly beautiful, with a face that could shame the moon and flowers, a beauty that could topple kingdoms, as lovely as a flower, graceful and elegant, charming and captivating, an unparalleled beauty, with a face as beautiful as a flower and as intelligent as ice and snow..."

"Second Brother." Shi Han showered her with praise as if it were free.

"Little sister is shy. What your second brother said is the truth. Okay, okay, I won't say anymore. Little sister, look at the gift your second brother brought you. See if you like it." Shi Han held up a small gift box and handed it to Shi Xi.

It looks like a bracelet or something similar.

Shi Han is a sunny, cheerful young man. Unlike his taciturn older brother Shi Hao, he is talkative and enjoys fighting.

A silver chain features a pink bead, its color bright and its surface smooth and round. The chain itself feels cool to the touch. It is quite valuable.

“This bracelet and necklace are a set, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. My sister is frail, so this bracelet is perfect for you,” the second brother explained.

"Thank you, Second Brother, I like it very much." She was naturally sensitive to both cold and heat, so it was perfect for her.

"Silly girl, why are you being so polite with your second brother?"

"Let's go eat. I haven't had my brother's cooking in ages, I'm so hungry for it," Shi Han said, licking her lips.

“My daughter and I are sitting together.” Shi’s mother sat next to Shi Xi.

"Okay, I won't fight you for it," said Mr. Shi in a doting tone.

Father Shi sat in the main seat, Mother Shi and Shi Xi sat to Father Shi's right, and Shi Hao and Shi Han sat to Father Shi's left.

"Big brother, please don't do so much in the future, it's too tiring," Shi Xi said with concern.

"It's not tiring to cook for my sister."

“But I’ll feel bad about it. How about you cook once a week, big brother? Don’t let cooking bankrupt the company, big brother. I’m hard to support, you know,” Shi Xi said, frowning.

"Okay, I'll do it once a week. You can be your little princess in peace, your big brother earns enough to support you." Although cooking for his little sister made him happy, seeing her frown still made his heart ache.

"And my second brother, I also give the money I earn to my sister." Shi Han.

"Xiaoxi, you can have all my money too," said Shi's mother.

“My darling daughter, you are the little princess of our family. You just need to spend money.” - Mr. Shi.

“.….”

"You've given me so much money, I can't possibly spend it all." When she first came back, her father, mother, and older brother each gave her a black card and six bank cards. She really couldn't possibly spend it all.

The first complete family meal ended amidst laughter and joy.

**

Shi Xi had just taken a shower and lay down when she heard a knock on the door.

"Little sister, it's your second brother."

Shi Xi opened the door. "Second brother, come in."

"I'm bringing you a glass of milk. It's good for a girl's skin if she drinks milk at night. Although you're naturally beautiful, drinking milk will make your skin even better."

She took the milk and drank it slowly.

"Second brother, please sit down." Shi Xi sat down in the chair.

Shi Han sat opposite her and said, "Little sister, do you know Han Yan? He's in the same class as you. I told him a few days ago that my sister goes to the same school as him and asked him to take care of you."

"I know him, he's my deskmate. He's very nice to me—friendly. He's easy to get along with."

"If he dares to be unfriendly to you, I'll beat him to death. Uh, no, we're good friends. If you need anything at school, just ask him for help. Don't be polite with him."

Shi Han paused for a moment and said, "Did anyone give you a hard time at school today?"
