Chapter 60 of The Little Fairy Who Became a Boss

Chapter 60

Qi Ying didn't expect that she would feel so uncomfortable.

She had always known that this body resisted the memory of her parents, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and her heart would ache whenever she thought of her parents.

She had been feeling uncomfortable since she knew she had to go back to Yancheng to pay respect to her parents. She tried not to think about it, and memorized words, texts, and the periodic table to distract herself, but it was always pricking her, like a small needle hiding in the corner and secretly pricking her.

She didn't know what was going on, nor did she know what to do.

I held on the whole day, but when I saw Ji Rang, I finally couldn't hold it anymore.

She felt a little aggrieved and wanted to cry in his arms, but she didn't want to make him worry. She kept forcing herself to smile, but he saw through her.

Ji Rang held her little hand in his palm and said softly, "Can I walk with you for a while?"

She nodded.

So he took her along the way home. Passing by a dessert shop, he bought her strawberry pudding, passing by a cold drink shop, he bought her soft serve ice cream. He held his phone in one hand and sent a message to his friend. Not long after, someone drove over and delivered a string of candied haws.

I heard that sweets can make people feel better, and indeed there were little smiles in her eyes.

After eating the candied haws, the corners of her mouth were covered with pink sugar residue. He wet a tissue with a mineral water bottle, squatted down and wiped it for her, and asked her: "Do you want to eat anything else?"

She shook her head and said softly, "I don't want to eat anymore. I need to save some space to eat at home."

He patted her little head and said, "Okay."

Then I took a taxi to send her home.

She held her schoolbag and looked at the flight confirmation text message on his phone. She asked quietly, "Are you really going with me?"

Ji Rang smiled: "The tickets are already booked, how can you still take a day off?" He put the phone in her hand and said, "Write down the address."

Qi Ying pursed her lips, lowered her head and typed slowly. Halfway through, she thought of something and looked up and asked him, "How do I explain this to my uncle?"

Ji Rang said: "Don't tell him, I won't let him find out."

She blinked her big eyes, seeming to find this a little unbelievable.

Ji Rang smiled: "I'm glad you know." His eyes were gentle, "I've always been by your side."

The thorn in my heart seems to have faded a lot.

She curled her eyes and nodded obediently.

Yu Cheng booked a flight to Feiyan City at 9am, and it was almost noon when he arrived there. Ji Rang's flight was two hours earlier, and when he booked the ticket, he didn't know when her flight was, so he booked the earliest one.

When he woke up in the morning, Ji Rang called Liu Yao to ask for leave.

He used to skip classes, but this time he actually asked for leave properly. Liu Yao couldn't believe it, but after being shocked, he readily agreed.

There's no point in disagreeing anyway.

He didn't bring anything with him. He was going today and would be back tomorrow. He didn't even carry a bag. He just put his cell phone, ID card, and charger in his pocket and put on a pair of headphones before going out.

When we arrived in Yancheng, the sky was cloudy and the temperature was not as high as in Haicheng.

He wore a black sweatshirt and a hat on his head, and stood at the arrival gate waiting for her.

After standing for more than two hours, I saw Qi Ying and Yu Cheng coming out dragging their suitcases.

She immediately spotted a tall boy wearing a hat in the crowd, and saw someone taking photos with a mobile phone next to him, and thought he was a star.

She pursed her lips and smiled secretly at the boy.

He smiled at her too.

Then he put his hands in his pockets and walked over to her as if nothing had happened.

Yu Cheng was still muttering: "Yancheng is much colder than Haicheng. Fortunately, you wore a sweater. Jinglin Mountain is probably even colder. Let's eat first."

Jinglin Cemetery is located on Jinglin Mountain.

Ji Rang tilted his head to look at the black sweater on the little girl.

It was a bit loose, with bat-wing sleeves, and a little bunny was embroidered on the chest with white thread. Her slender body was hidden under the loose sweater, and she looked very well behaved.

He walked very close to her.

Occasionally shoulders may touch.

Qi Yinghao was worried that his uncle would notice the boy next to him, so he didn't even dare to look at him. But there were so many people at the airport that his uncle didn't notice him at all.

There was a KFC in front of them, and Yu Cheng asked her opinion: "Is it okay to eat KFC? I don't think there's anything good to eat at the foot of Jinglin Mountain."

She nodded.

After entering, Yu Cheng asked her what she wanted to eat, and then went to line up to order. She found a seat and sat down, and saw the boy standing at the door holding his phone and scanning the QR code on the app to order food. He was much faster than Yu Cheng in line. After ordering, he came over, pulled out the chair behind her, and sat back to back with her.

She was a little nervous, feeling like a thief, and didn't dare turn around to talk to him.

Two fashionably dressed girls came to Ji Rang with plates in their hands and asked him with a smile, "Hello, can we sit here?"

Qi Ying heard the boy's cold voice: "No."

The two girls were so embarrassed that they left without saying a word.

Qi Ying couldn't help but tilt her head slightly and whispered, "Don't be so fierce. Be polite."

Ji Rang thought, I was very polite not to tell her to get out. He crossed his legs and smiled, "What is politeness?"

The little girl said softly: "You can say, sorry, there's someone here."

"Okay." He smiled, "I'll remember that."

As they were talking, they saw Yu Cheng coming over with a plate of food. Qi Ying quickly turned around and sat up straight. After dinner, Yu Cheng took her to take a taxi.

There was a long queue at the bus stop, and when she got on the bus, she could no longer see the boy. Qi Ying leaned against the window to look around, then quietly got back into the car. Soon, she received a text message from him on her phone: "I'm here, don't be afraid."

She felt warm inside.

When they arrived at Jinglin Cemetery, the sky was much darker and covered with dark clouds, which seemed like a sign of rain. Yu Cheng bought white chrysanthemums and a black umbrella at the flower shop at the foot of the mountain and led Qi Ying up the mountain.

With each step she climbed, each step closer to the cemetery, her breathing became more and more difficult.

The thorn in my heart popped up again.

This time it wasn't just one, but many, densely packed into her heart, making her tremble with pain.

She felt so upset that she was about to cry.

But it couldn't work. She couldn't let her uncle find out about her abnormality. He always thought she had recovered and she couldn't let him worry about her day and night again.

She clenched her teeth, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and tried hard to suppress the pain that was surging and gnawing in her body.

My parents’ grave is halfway up the mountain, and many fresh flowers have been placed around the tombstone.

My father’s colleague came to pay his respects this morning.

She put down the white chrysanthemum in her arms, knelt down in front of the tombstone and kowtowed, not even daring to look at the photo on the tombstone. She rested her forehead against the cold stone, her frail body trembling slightly, and she cried softly.

Lonely and pitiful.

Ji Rang stood far away, wishing he could rush over and hug the little girl in his arms to coax her.

Yu Cheng's eyes also turned red. He sat down and talked a lot with his sister and brother-in-law who were sleeping underground.

They said Yingying was very happy in her new school, had made many new friends, and her grades were improving. Her injury had healed, and she could hear and speak, and would definitely get better in the future, so they should not worry.

They talked for a long time, until it started to drizzle on the mountain.

Yu Cheng pulled the little girl up from the ground, held her in his arms with a black umbrella, and whispered to comfort her: "Let's go, Mom and Dad definitely don't want to see you get sick in the rain, stop crying."

She was very obedient. She sniffed and stopped crying.

The two of them went down the mountain holding umbrellas.

When they were going down the stairs, a young man in a black sweatshirt and a hat, holding a bunch of daisies in his arms, walked up the mountain and passed by them.

Yu Cheng looked vaguely familiar, but he thought it was an illusion. He seldom came to Yancheng, so how could he know him?

Qi Ying and the young man's eyes met in the rain. He smiled gently and looked away.

It was not until the two figures disappeared in the rain that he walked to the place where Qi Ying had been kneeling and crying, and placed the little daisy in his arms in front of the tombstone.

The man in the photo is wearing a police uniform, looking very righteous. Qi Ying looks like her mother, very gentle.

Fang Xu was right. He had always hated the police and the high-sounding justice and morality they talked about. What was there to be proud of when one sacrificed himself and his family for justice and morality?

But looking at the man in the photo, he was smiling slightly, but his eyes were firm and deep, as if even if there was an abyss ahead, as long as he was in police uniform, he would still move forward.

Ji Rang lowered his eyes and knelt down in front of the tombstone.

He whispered, "Uncle and Auntie, I am Yingying's...classmate." He pursed his lips and said in a deep and firm voice, "I will take good care of her and never let her suffer in this life."

The rain was getting heavier and heavier. He kowtowed three times towards the tombstone and turned to go down the mountain.

Qi Ying's family still has the house in Yancheng, and Yu Cheng plans to wait until she graduates from university and then let her decide what to do with the house.

But since no one had lived there for nearly a year, the house must have been covered with dust, and she was too lazy to clean it even if she was just staying there for one day. Yu Cheng booked a hotel near her home, so he could just go back and check on her before leaving.

Qi Ying sent the hotel address to Ji Rang yesterday. He booked the same hotel. After coming down from the mountain, he was soaked all over. He went back to the room and took a hot bath, wrapped in a bath towel and hung up his clothes.

It was already dark, and Yu Cheng took Qi Ying to have dinner. They had been busy all day and were cold and tired, so he let her rest early after returning to the hotel.

She nodded obediently. Although she cried for a while during the worship, she looked normal at other times. Yu Cheng didn't think much about it and went back to his room.

The rain was getting heavier and heavier, hitting the awning with a loud bang, as if it was going to make a hole in the house.

Qi Ying took a shower, changed her clothes, and stood on the balcony looking out.

She can see her former home, the gravel road she walked on to and from school, the snack street where she loved to eat, and the traffic light intersection where she fell off her bicycle.

Everything is shrouded in the pouring rain, like a past that can never be returned to, and it is not clear.

She squatted down, holding her heart, sobbing again and again.

She didn't dare cry out loud because her uncle lived next door and she was afraid he would hear her.

She didn't know why she was so sad.

It was obvious that she had never seen those parents, and it was obvious that she was just an "outsider".

There was a bang on the door.

She rubbed her face with her little hands twice and forced herself to open the door.

Ji Rang was outside the door, wearing clothes that were not yet dry, holding a cell phone, "I called you but you didn't answer." He looked at her red eyes, frowned, and whispered, "Yingying..."

The little girl finally couldn't help it and threw herself into his arms, bursting into tears.

Ji Rang reached out and hugged her, hooking the door with his foot.

She cried so hard that she was out of breath. Her tears were more abundant than the rain outside. His heart was broken into pieces. There was nothing he could do except hug her tightly.

He wiped her tears with his hands, kissed her eyes, and asked her in a hoarse voice: "Yingying, dear, where do you feel uncomfortable?"

She covered her chest and cried softly, "My heart hurts so much."

He was in so much pain too. It wasn't enough to be broken into pieces, he was already broken into slag.

He didn't even dare to use more strength to hold her, and whispered, "Can I take you to see a doctor?"

She sobbed and shook her head: "No." Her little hands tightly grasped the corner of his clothes, tears streaming down her face, unable to stop, sobbing and murmuring to him: "Is it not good for me to do this?"

He bent down and kissed her tear-stained eyelashes: "It's okay whatever happens to you."

"I'm not okay." She closed her eyes, her frail body trembling in his arms, and a cry of pain escaped from her lips in a low voice: "I'm actually not proud of him at all."

I actually...

Not proud at all.

I just want him to live.

I miss him riding his electric bike to pick me up from school after get off work every day.

I hope that every time he goes on a business trip, he will bring me some delicious local specialties.

When he came to the parent-teacher conference for me, I proudly told my classmates that my father was a policeman.

I fooled everyone, including myself.
