Chapter 16
The rain is getting heavier.
Yu Zhuo wiped the splashed rain on his face in anger and shouted: "I will fight you!"
Ji Rang looked at him like he was mentally retarded, then raised his hand and threw Qi Ying's schoolbag at him. It hit Yu Zhuo's chin, knocking him unconscious.
He turned around and was about to leave holding the umbrella. Qi Ying hurriedly grabbed the corner of his wet clothes, took off his own shirt, and handed it to him with a worried look on her face, as if to say: Don't catch a cold.
Ji Rang took it and put it on his shoulder.
In just a short while, her sweet scent filled her clothes. His shoulders were a little stiff, and he quickened his pace. After he walked away, he pulled the clothes off and held them in his hand.
Qi Ying watched his back disappear in the rain, sighed sadly, and turned around to see her brother glaring at her with resentment.
She was a little embarrassed and took out her cell phone and typed: Don’t tell my uncle.
Yu Zhuo: Do you remember the last time you threatened me with my fighting?
Qi Ying: ...I'll give you half of my pocket money.
Yu Zhuo: Who wants your pocket money? Am I that kind of person?
Pause.
Yu Zhuo: How many?
The secret of a rainy day was buried in a money transaction.
On Monday, when school started, many teachers and students found that the big guys who had skipped classes for a week finally returned to school. The flag-raising ceremony was of course criticized in the notice, and the dean of studies was so angry that his nose was crooked when he stood there: "Some students just can't stand praise!"
After the briefing, the school finally announced something serious: "Starting today, the school will organize a 'Caring for Students' Mental Health' activity. We hope that all students can have a good mental state in addition to studying. Students who are under too much pressure and have too many worries can find their class teacher to sign up. The school will arrange psychological counseling in turn. Haiyi will care for every student and let everyone have a fulfilling and happy high school life!"
There was sparse applause from below.
Qu Dazhuang said excitedly: "I can go to the infirmary to sleep openly again!"
After the flag-raising ceremony, the head teachers of each class began to organize the class committee to register the students who needed tutoring. The students who really had academic pressure would not participate at all. They would rather use the time to memorize a few words. On the contrary, the poor students who never studied were very happy.
In Class 9, head teacher Liu Yao felt a headache when looking at the list of names handed in by the class committee.
None of the counseling was available.
He slammed the list on the desk and angrily said, "Qu Peng! What kind of study pressure do you need to be relieved of? Have you studied since the beginning of school? And you put your name in the list of key tutoring targets?"
The class burst into laughter.
Qu Dazhuang stood up and said sadly, "Teacher Liu, I suffer contempt and exclusion every day just because of my poor grades. I feel that I am suffering from great psychological trauma now, really."
Class 9 students: “…”
Who the hell dares to exclude you?
We won’t take the blame for this!
Liu Yao also knew that he was talking nonsense, so he mercilessly crossed his name out of the key tutoring targets. He looked at the boy sleeping on the desk in the last row with complicated eyes, and called him, "Ji Rang, come out with me."
Ji Rang stood up lazily.
Liu Yao stood at the end of the corridor, holding the list of psychological counseling. When he came out, he pointed to the column for key counseling and said, "I'll add your name here. Remember to go to the infirmary on time."
Ji Rang said, "I won't go."
Liu Yao glared at him: "You have to go! This is the principal's personal instruction!"
Ji Rang's eyes darkened for a long time, then he grinned, "Okay."
When Qu Dazhuang found out, he was very dissatisfied: "Why can I do this but not you?! Does he have the pressure of studying? He got a new book and never even flipped through it, but I at least opened it and wrote my name on it!"
Liu Haiyang hit the nail on the head: "Let me be omnipotent."
Haiyi had a strong executive ability, and arranged the tutoring time according to the list submitted by each class the next day. After the first class, Ji Rang was notified that he didn't need to attend the next class and went to the infirmary for psychological counseling.
He lazily left the classroom amid the envious gazes of his younger brothers.
When he arrived at the infirmary, he ignored the psychologist with a friendly smile, lay down on the bed near the inside, and began to sleep.
Sleeping lying down is much more comfortable than sleeping on your stomach.
I have to thank Liu Yao.
The psychologist moved the chair to the bedside and patiently asked several questions, but unfortunately received no response.
He sighed, looked at Ji Rang who had fallen into a deep sleep, shook his head, closed the curtain, returned to his desk, and wrote the words "refuse to cooperate" on the page of the medical record.
During the last class of the morning, Qi Ying came to the infirmary.
She was the school's focus, and when the psychological counseling activity began, Liu Qinghua directly filled in her name in the focus counseling column.
It would be a good thing for everyone if Qi Ying could speak sooner.
The psychiatrist had already obtained Qi Ying's information and knew that she suffered from PTSD, so he was more patient with her. The two did not speak during the whole process and communicated through writing.
This was the scene Ji Rang saw when he woke up.
The girl sat on a chair, holding a pen and writing. Although it was a comfortable leather chair with a backrest, her sitting posture was still very straight, which reminded people of the children sitting in a row in kindergarten waiting to receive red flowers.
I don’t know what the psychologist wrote on the paper, but she was amused and her eyes were shining.
That smile is so sweet that it can heal this fucked up world.
I need some fucking psychological counseling.
The bell rang, the psychologist ended the counseling session, and sent Qi Ying out. While they were out, Ji Rang jumped off the bed and walked out. When he passed by the desk, he subconsciously glanced at the notebook full of words on the desk.
I saw a few eye-catching words.
Sacrifice, glory, greatness.
Are you proud of your father?
——Yes, he is a hero.
Ji Rang's legs seemed to be suddenly filled with lead and sank heavily. He wanted to leave this place quickly, but he couldn't move his feet.
Even breathing became difficult.
Those few casual words on the paper were like needles piercing his eyes.
Why?
Why should I be proud of him?
Others praise greatness in a perfunctory way because they have never experienced the same thing.
What about her? Everything she suffered was from the man who was supposed to protect her, but did she feel great about it?
Really...
It's ridiculous.
The psychologist walked in from the door and saw Ji Rang. He was startled by the crazy emotions in his eyes. He walked over quickly, put away the medical records on the table, and tried to make his voice gentle: "Student, did you sleep well?"
Ji Rang ignored him and didn't even look at him.
His posture was stiff, as if he was carrying a weight of several hundred kilograms on his back, and he moved out of the infirmary step by step with difficulty.
Ji Rang didn't go to the cafeteria to eat, and didn't answer the phone. When Qu Dazhuang and his friends found him, he was playing basketball in the north playground. It seemed like he had a grudge against the basket, and every time he dunked, he wanted to smash the basket.
While he was dribbling the ball, Qu Dazhuang shouted, "Brother Rang, I brought you food."
Ji Rang leaped up and slammed the basketball in his hand into the hoop. The basketball stand swayed and creaked as if it was about to collapse. After shaking for a long time, it finally stabilized with trepidation.
Liu Haiyang whispered, "Brother Rang seems to be in a bad mood."
Qu Dazhuang: "You tell me! We are not blind!"
When Ji Rang approached, several people quickly shut up. He took the lunch box, didn't even look at what was inside, stuffed two or three bites into his mouth, and asked calmly, "Will you play online in the afternoon?"
Several people nodded in unison: "Open it, open it!"
Then the back rows of Class 9's classroom were empty in the afternoon.
Liu Yao was so angry that he waited for the skippers to arrive the next morning and took them all to the corridor to make them stand. He pointed at Ji Rang, the leader, and said, "Don't you like skipping classes? Wouldn't it be better if you just didn't come to school?"
Ji Rang smiled and said, "I paid the tuition fee. If I don't come, I will lose a lot."
Liu Yao was almost pissed off by him.
The bell rang, and the next class was his. He was too lazy to argue with these bad students and shouted, "Stand right here!"
Then he stormed into the classroom and started the class.
This group of people have long been accustomed to being punished by standing. They leaned against the wall with laughter. Qu Dazhuang was still happily recalling the ranking match yesterday afternoon: "Ran Ge's operation was really cool! It's okay to fight one against five in real life, but he dared to do this in the game!"
As he was speaking, he saw Qi Ying and two classmates walking towards him at the other end of the corridor, holding a stack of homework books.
The teachers' offices are all over here.
Qu Dazhuang poked Ji Rang who was playing with his phone and said, "Brother Rang, your little fairy."
Ji Rang was about to scold him, but when he looked up and saw Qi Ying, his face suddenly changed. Before Qu Dazhuang could react, he had already rushed in through the back door of the classroom.
On the podium, Liu Yao looked at Ji Rang who suddenly appeared, and was so angry that he vomited blood: "What are you doing here! Get out!"
Ji Rang stood against the wall at the back door. "Standing as a punishment won't affect my class. I love studying."
Liu Yao: “???”
What do you love?
Can you say that again?
After finally getting to the end of the get out of class, Liu Yaoming knew that this group of poor students would not take his words to heart at all, but he still fulfilled his duties as a teacher and gave them a lecture one by one, warning them not to skip classes again, and even if they wanted to sleep, they had to sleep in their seats!
A few people responded absentmindedly.
Liu Yao said to Ji Rang again: "Remember to go to the infirmary on time later."
Ji Rang curled his lips: "Okay."
Liu Yao knew what he was planning: "You are not allowed to go to bed immediately! The school arranged a doctor for your healthy growth, you must cooperate with the doctor!"
Ji Rang sneered.
It was such a good match for him that he was already showing mercy by not beating him up.
After the third class, Ji Rang lazily walked towards the infirmary. As soon as he turned the corner, he saw Qi Ying coming out of the infirmary. When their eyes met, she smiled sweetly again and ran towards him.
Ji Rang turned around and left.
He walked faster and faster, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't catch up with him.
Qi Ying stopped panting and looked at his back as he walked away, feeling a little aggrieved.
This morning too.
She actually saw him. He was the tallest and most conspicuous among the students in the corridor, but when he saw her, he hid in the classroom as if he had seen a ghost.
Was he beginning to dislike her?
Do you hate her so much that you don't want to see her anymore?
Qi Ying felt very sad, but she had no choice but to rub her eyes and walk back to the classroom with her head down.
She didn't see Ji Rang for the next two days.
I don’t know if he was avoiding her on purpose or if the school was just too big.
Qi Ying was reciting words in a depressed mood. Yue Li, who was drinking milk, rushed in from the door, took her word book and started writing: Yingying, do you know what happened to the boss recently?
Qi Ying shook his head blankly.
Yue Li wrote excitedly: Even you don't know? The boss has been so scary lately, picking fights everywhere. I heard that he even had an appointment to fight with some gangsters after school today! I just ran into him at the stairs, and he had a Band-Aid on the corner of his eye!
Qi Ying's eyes widened.
As soon as school was over, she didn't wait for Yue Li and hurried to Class 9 with her schoolbag.
There was no one in the classroom.
She went downstairs again, and just as she reached the second floor, she saw Ji Rang walking upstairs.
He seemed to have dropped something, and looked anxious and irritable. Qu Dazhuang and others followed him, looking for it and asking, "Is it pink? Does the pen cap look like a whale?"
He hummed impatiently.
Looking up, I saw Qi Ying standing blankly on the steps.
She held her schoolbag, her eyes a little red, pursed her lips, and looked at him stubbornly.
Ji Rang's throat tightened.
He touched the Band-Aid at the corner of his eye and turned to go into the men's room.
He didn't come out for more than ten minutes.
Qu Dazhuang was lucky enough to find the pink whale pen at the back door of the classroom. He excitedly ran to the toilet to claim credit: "Brother Rang! I found it!"
Ji Rang was smoking, and there were cigarette butts all over the floor.
He took it silently and put it in his schoolbag.
Qu Dazhuang felt that the mission was accomplished and called out to him, "Brother Rang, let's go."
Ji Rang was silent for a while: "Wait a moment."
Liu Haiyang and the others also came in and were startled by the cigarette butts on the ground. Luo Bing asked, "Brother, what are you doing here? Why are you staying here for so long?"
A school bully in Haiyi was chased by a girl and hid in the men's restroom. If this gets out, won't he have any face? ! Ji Rang got angry when asked: "I like to smoke in the restroom, so what!" He kicked Luo Bing and said fiercely: "Fuck you, smoke with me! You can't leave until you finish smoking!"
Everyone: “…”
Fortunately, school was over and the toilet at this end couldn't be flushed because the water pipe was broken, so not many people came to use it.
A few people looked at each other and took out cigarettes and lit them.
A group of people were squatting in the toilet, smoking.
During this time, a male classmate came in because he had to pee urgently, and was scared away.
It was unknown how much time had passed, but Qu Dazhuang, with tears on his face, trembled and pulled Ji Rang: "Brother Rang, I can't take it anymore, my eyes are going to be blinded by the smoke..."
