Chapter 152 Amnesia

"You're so stubborn, I've never seen anyone like you in all my years."

Old Liu glared at him irritably, then his tone hardened.

"Get out of my car right now, I don't pick up heartless people."

"I'm not getting off the bus. I want to go home with my wife."

Seeing him looking at her with such dependence, Chen Qingqing asked, "Since you call me wife, do you know my name?"

The man thought for a moment, then shook his head blankly. "Wife, I can't remember."

"If you can't remember, why do you think I'm your wife?"

"Although I don't remember my wife's name, my mind tells me that you are my wife. From the moment I woke up and saw you, I felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity, as if we had known each other for many years."

Hearing his words, Chen Qingqing shook her head helplessly. This person's impaired consciousness was likely caused by brain damage, indicating that his brain function had not fully recovered.

It's short-term amnesia, which is why he mistook someone for someone else.

Although she wanted to help him, she couldn't possibly care for him forever if he never remembered.

But she felt a little guilty if she ignored him.

Frowning as she looked at the man, she saw that his eyes were clear and he didn't seem foolish, so she questioned him.

Do you remember what you used to do?

"have no idea."

"Do you remember how you got injured?"

"have no idea."

"So what's your name?"

"have no idea."

"You know nothing when I ask you questions? Then what do you know?" Chen Qingqing sighed, looking at the man with a helpless expression.

The man grinned. "I knew you were my wife."

"I'm really fed up with you. You're seriously out of your mind."

Chen Qingqing smiled bitterly to herself. This person remembered nothing; he had indeed suffered from amnesia. Acupuncture was necessary to help him restore his brain function.

But this is a long wait. A short period is fine, but what if it takes three to five years for the memory to be restored?

Chen Qingqing frowned. At worst, she could support him; it would just mean one more person to feed!

Thinking about it this way, she felt relieved and said to Liu Laohan, "Grandpa Laohan, let's go."

"Qing girl, are you really going to take him back?"

“What can we do if we don’t take him back? Look at him, he doesn’t know anything when we ask him anything. He’s obviously mentally challenged, which is why he’s spouting nonsense.”

Chen Qingqing pointed to her head as she spoke.

Old Liu shook his head and sighed, "You mean he's just a fool now? If he really insists on staying with you, then things will get complicated."

"Don't worry, Grandpa Lao Han, this is probably just temporary amnesia, he'll get better soon."

"You are such a kind-hearted child."

Chen Qingqing smiled and said, "As the saying goes, if you're going to help someone, you should help them to the end; if you're going to save someone, you should save them to the very end. In any case, let nature take its course!"

Old Liu stopped trying to persuade him, sighed silently, and cracked the whip a few times in the air. The old ox understood the sound of the whip and the oxcart slowly started moving.

Chen Qingqing looked at the man and saw that he was handsome, but she couldn't remember anything, not even her own name.

I instantly felt sorry for him and wanted to help him come up with a name so it would be easier to call him later.

She lowered her head and thought for a moment, then raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Hey, how about I give you a name?"

The man nodded happily, "Okay, what will you call me, my wife?"

"How about I call you an idiot?" Chen Qingqing said with a mischievous grin.

The man shook his head, "That doesn't sound good. I'm not stupid, why would you call me a fool!"

"Okay, if you don't like it, I'll change it again." Chen Qingqing was teasing him intentionally. "Then I'll call you Daibao, isn't that a nice name!"

"Dumb baby? Isn't that still silly? I don't like it."

"Then let's call him 'Foolish Boy,' 'Dumbo,' 'Confused Little,' 'Second-Rate Fool,' 'Third-Rate Fool,' 'Fourth-Rate Fool,' 'Fifth-Rate Idiot'..."

"It doesn't sound good." The man shook his head. "Wife, none of these sound good. Can you give me a nicer name?"

"I didn't expect you to be so picky."

Chen Qingqing couldn't help but laugh.

“A name for you has to be unique. Since you don’t like words that mean you’re stupid or dull, I’ll think about it some more. But you’re as dumb as a blockhead, so what should I call you?”

Suddenly her eyes lit up. "I've got it! I'll call you Little Fish. Little means small, and Fish means fish. How's that name?"

"Little Fish," the man smiled with satisfaction, "Okay, this sounds nice, I'll call you Little Fish."

"Okay, from now on, your name will be Chen Xiaoyu, understand?"

"Don't worry, my wife, I've remembered."

Hearing him call me "wife" so often made Chen Qingqing feel a little awkward. "You can't call me 'wife' anymore. You can only call me Sister Qingqing or Qingyatou. Do you understand?"

Chen Xiaoyu shook her head, "No, I'll call you wife."

Having no other choice, Chen Qingqing resorted to threatening him, "Let me tell you, you can't just call someone 'wife' casually. It's very impolite. I'm not trying to scare you, but if you call someone 'wife' in front of my parents, you'll definitely get a beating, and I won't be able to help you then."

Chen Xiaoyu frowned, as if he was thinking about something, and after a long while he finally spoke, "Wife, I'll listen to you."

"Wife, what are we going to do now? Shall we take me home?"

"Don't go home yet, come with me to do something."

"Yes, my wife."

The man grinned, revealing a row of teeth. To be honest, if he weren't mentally challenged, his smile was quite handsome.

Chen Qingqing rolled her eyes, speechless and helpless. She couldn't reason with an idiot. Fine, let him call her whatever he wants.

I can only explain it to my parents; I believe they won't stoop to the level of a fool.

She ignored Chen Xiaoyu and looked around.

Chen Qingqing had already made up her mind that if she wanted to sell brown sugar long-term, she needed to find a long-term, stable shop location.

For example, grocery stores and pastry shops—only these kinds of places have high demand…

The oxcart slowly moved forward and, upon seeing a large grocery store ahead, quickly told Liu Laohan to stop the cart.

"Grandpa Lao Han, I might have to wait a while. Why don't you wait for us outside the town? You can pick up a few more people on the way."

"Okay, go ahead!"

“Wife, I’ll go too,” Chen Xiaoyu jumped off the carriage right after her, quickly slinging the bag of sugar over her shoulder. “I’ll help you carry your things.”

Chen Qingqing was astonished. That bag contained forty pounds of brown sugar, and this kid had picked it up so easily. She was quite surprised.

Seeing him grinning foolishly at her, she had no choice but to nod and agree, "Okay, let's go."

The two walked straight into the grocery store...
