Chapter 189 Good News and Joyous Events

After leaving the academy, Chen Zhancai returned home, picked up Liu Fengjiao, and hurriedly headed towards Nanshan Village.

The two cheered and jumped for joy along the way, wondering how their parents had managed to get the silver from the eldest son's family.

As soon as he entered the house, Chen Zhancai said, "Father, Mother, we're back."

When Old Mrs. Chen saw Liu Fengjiao enter the house, she was immediately stunned.

She used to be plump and fair-skinned, but now she's become sallow and thin.

His eyes were dull and lifeless, and he looked completely listless.

Grandma Chen looked worried. "Fengjiao, why have you lost so much weight? Are you sick?"

Liu Fengjiao felt a pang of sadness, caught between two men at the same time.

Wang Qichang had a strong sex drive and wanted her almost every day.

Chen Zhancai was the same; he wasn't tired during the day at the academy, but he would work himself to the bone at night.

After more than a month, she was almost exhausted.

"Mother, I'm fine. It's just that Zhancai is studying and I'm a little tired from taking care of him. I'll be fine after a rest."

After Liu Fengjiao finished speaking, she glanced at Old Man Chen and changed the subject.

"Father, Mother, why did you call us back in such a hurry?"

Old Chen rubbed his hands together. His son had brought his granddaughter back to recuperate, but right under their noses, she had been violated. How could he possibly speak up about such a thing? He lowered his head and didn't dare to say a word.

Old Mrs. Chen had already prepared her explanation, and she quickly stood up to greet them, "It's nothing serious, please sit down and rest."

Upon hearing this, Chen Zhancai was immediately disappointed. His face darkened as he said, "Mother, why did you have that silly Erdanzi call us back? That idiot almost drove me crazy."

"What happened? What did Erdanzi do?"

Chen Zhancai was furious when he remembered being ridiculed by his classmates at the academy.

She hated Chen Han to the core; not only was he exceptionally intelligent at such a young age, but he also understood the ways of the world.

They're all from the Chen family, but he's over thirty and not as sensible and reasonable as a child.

His classmates often compared him to themselves, making him seem like an idiot.

He said with a displeased look, "That big idiot went to the academy to find me, but the gatekeeper said the teacher was giving a lecture and told him to wait at the door for a while."

But he stood at the door shouting my name, saying my dad told him to tell me to hurry up and bring my wife home.

His shout was heard by everyone in the academy. My classmates rolled their eyes and looked at me with mockery.

"Why couldn't you have sent a decent person to find me? You brought this clueless idiot. When I asked him what happened at home, all he did was chuckle stupidly. It's infuriating!"

Upon hearing this, Old Man Chen hurriedly explained, "Third brother, don't listen to his nonsense. I didn't send him, it was..."

"Alright, stop talking nonsense." Before he could finish speaking, Old Mrs. Chen interrupted him, "Third son, calm down. I called you back because I really have something to discuss with you two."

"What is it? Tell me quickly, I have to go back to school!" Chen Zhancai said, still sounding a little angry.

Old Mrs. Chen knew that if she told the couple the truth directly, they would definitely not be able to accept it, so she decided to use a roundabout tactic.

She forced a smile and said, "No rush, no rush. I have some good news and some happy news. Which one would you like to hear first?"

Chen Zhancai was certain that Old Madam Chen must have gotten some money from the eldest son's family, otherwise she wouldn't be so happy.

He suppressed a smile, deliberately putting on a sullen face, and said irritably,

"What good thing could happen to our family? Could it be that we've struck it rich?"

"Yes, Mother, what good news has happened to our family? From what you're saying, it doesn't mean you've really found a silver ingot!" Liu Fengjiao chimed in with a smile.

Grandma Chen grinned and said, "Since you want to hear the good news first, then I'll tell you about it."
