Grandma Sun touched Erbao's mouth thoroughly with her fingers, and then reached into Erbao's clothes.
Erbao was so frightened that he backed away, asking, "What are you going to do?"
"What are you doing? I'm going to give you a check-up. Hurry up and take off your clothes."
Upon hearing that he was to take off his clothes, Erbao immediately took a few steps back and came to Old Man Chen's side. "Grandpa, didn't you say that we could go home after you finished treating my teeth? Let's go home. I don't like it here."
Old Chen felt both heartbroken and saddened. How could he just sell such an obedient and good child? This was a terrible thing!
Over the years, in order to support Lao San's education, the family's life has become worse day by day, and now they have even resorted to secretly selling their grandson.
If he had been more assertive when he sold his eldest son's daughter, he wouldn't be at odds with the eldest son's family now. He can only watch helplessly as the eldest son's family prospers.
Now his wife wants to sell his second son's child. Although he knows the consequences of doing so might be the same as those of his eldest son's family, he is afraid of his wife and dares not speak out.
He sighed helplessly, turned around, and wiped away his tears.
Seeing that Old Man Chen was ignoring him, Erbao quickly grabbed Old Woman Chen's arm and pleaded, "Grandma, please take Erbao away, I want to go home."
"Erbao, take off your clothes and let Grandma see you. Hurry up, or Grandma won't like you anymore." Old Mrs. Chen coaxed and threatened Erbao as she brought him to Grandma Sun.
Grandma Sun kneaded and pinched the fabric with her rough hands, checking it over from front to back, and nodded in satisfaction.
"Not bad, the ribs are all in place, and he has never had tuberculosis."
Grandma Chen echoed, "Grandma Sun, don't worry, this child was born strong and healthy and has never had any major health problems."
"Okay, that's good."
"Can we sign the papers now?"
"Don't rush. We still need to go through the proper procedures. If you make a mistake and just walk away, I'll be in big trouble."
"Okay, then please hurry, we have other things to do!"
"Lift your feet up." Granny Sun kicked Erbao's ankle.
Erbao was in so much pain that he kept backing away.
Old Mrs. Chen was anxious, fearing that something unexpected might happen. If her second son found out and tracked her down here, all her efforts would be in vain. Only by signing the document, getting the money, and having her fingerprints on it could everything be resolved.
She rushed forward and picked up Erbao, saying as she pulled his feet up, "Hurry up, Erbao, as soon as the check-up is over, Grandma will take you home."
Grandma Sun examined the baby thoroughly, then asked Erbao some simple questions before nodding in satisfaction.
"Alright, the child is indeed good. Let's do it as we agreed before."
Upon hearing this, Old Mrs. Chen finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Alright, then shall we...?"
Grandma Sun understood what she meant, and shook her head with a smile. "Don't rush. Take the child and come with me first. There's only one last step. Once the inspection is passed, we can sign the contract."
After saying that, she got up and led the group to another room, and ordered the two burly men guarding the door, "You two take this child in, take off his clothes and check him thoroughly."
Old Chen craned his neck to look inside, and his scalp tingled with fear.
There were a dozen or so children huddled in a corner, trembling. Several of them were covered in injuries, and it was obvious that they had been beaten by heartless human traffickers.
Seeing this, Erbao was so frightened that he kept backing away, saying, "Grandma, I want to go home, I don't want to go in."
"Good grandson, don't be afraid. Go inside first, and Grandma will come to pick you up in a bit."
"No, I'm not going in." Erbao turned around and tried to run away.
Granny Sun grabbed him by the back of the collar and gave the two burly men a wink.
The two burly men immediately tossed Erbao into the house like he was a chick.
Erbao realized the danger, got up and backed away, shouting, "Grandpa, save me! Grandma, save me! I want to go home!"
One of the burly men raised his hand and slapped Erbao hard across the face, cursing fiercely, "You little brat, if you dare to misbehave again, I'll beat you to death."
After saying that, he roughly ripped off Erbao's clothes, spread his legs, and began to examine him.
Erbao's eyes were filled with fear as he struggled desperately, crying and shouting for help, "You big bad guys, let me go! Grandpa, Grandma, come save me!"
“You brat, behave yourself. Your family doesn’t want you anymore. No matter how much you shout, it won’t help.”
"No way, you big liar! My grandparents would never abandon me. They just bought me candied hawthorns. Let me go right now, I want to go home."
"Go home. Once you're here, you can forget about leaving. This is your home from now on."
Erbao frantically tried to break free of his restraints, but he was too weak.
After checking, a burly man called out to Granny Sun outside the door, "Everything is normal."
At this moment, Old Man Chen's heart broke as he heard Erbao's cries. "Old woman, I beg you, please don't buy Erbao, okay?"
Old Mrs. Chen was also feeling uneasy, but if she really went back on her word, wouldn't all her efforts be in vain?
As the saying goes, a soft heart and a soft hand lead to failure, and a woman's compassion can ruin everything.
For the sake of his third son's bright future, he had to sacrifice his grandson.
She shouted angrily, "Shut your stinking mouth! You can't back out now. Get out of here!"
Old Chen knew that saying more would only get him scolded, so he lowered his head and remained silent.
Granny Sun locked the door. "Come on, come with me to the front to sign the indenture."
"Alright, then hurry up!" Old Mrs. Chen couldn't bear to listen to Erbao's cries for help any longer, so she turned and left quickly.
