Chapter 290 Disagreement with Separating the Family

Old Mrs. Chen panicked. She knew in her heart that everything in the family now depended on her second son and his wife.

If the family really splits up, there will be no one to do the farm work, wash clothes, and cook.

All of this will fall on her shoulders; it'll exhaust this old woman to death!

She regrets it to death that her eldest son's family moved out and lived on their own. If she hadn't been so headstrong back then, none of this would have happened.

Having learned from past mistakes, we must not split up, no matter how much we complain.

Having made up her mind, she waved her hand.

"Don't give me that nonsense, I don't agree to split up the family."

Madam Sun gave a mocking laugh, "Mother, if we don't separate the family, do you think we can still live together? Do you have the face to face Erbao, Zhanliang, and me?"

Old Mrs. Chen's face twitched, and she said unreasonably,

"What can't I face? Stop threatening me with the issue of the second child."

That's me trying to find a better future for Erbao. You two shouldn't be ungrateful.

Furthermore, Erbao is a member of the Chen family by blood. I can sell him if I want; it's none of your business to interfere. If you want to separate the family, don't even think about it.

"That's right, they even dare to threaten their elders, it's really too much," Old Man Chen echoed with a stern face.

Chen Zhancai also looked dissatisfied; he knew that the family relied entirely on Chen Zhanliang and his wife's hard work.

If they really separate and live separately, he'll be the only one supporting his parents in the future, which will inevitably cause a lot of trouble.

Separating from the family would be detrimental to him in every way, so he might as well be a carefree king like he is now.

Thinking of this, he began to offer his advice.

"Second brother, second sister-in-law, you mustn't act impulsively. Although what Father and Mother did today wasn't exactly honorable, you don't have to be so relentless!"

As the saying goes, no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes.

They are our parents who gave us life and raised us. What could be so difficult to resolve that we have to tear each other apart and insist on separating the family property?

"Aren't you deliberately trying to drive your parents to their deaths?!"

Chen Zhanliang was so angry at his righteous words that his palms itched to slap him a few times.

Suppressing the urge to punch someone, he snorted coldly, "Stop talking nonsense. If it weren't for you, our family wouldn't be in this situation."

After saying that, he turned to Old Lady Chen and said...

“Mother, if you really can’t bear to part with me, we can stay together as a family, but as the head of the household, you must treat everyone equally.”

The third son never did any work, so I stopped working in the fields too. Since someone in the third son's family was in school, someone in our second branch of the family also needed to go to school.

"Let Erbao go to the academy; you can cover the tuition fees. If you agree, I won't separate the family."

Chen Zhanliang knew that Old Madam Chen would not agree, so he deliberately said these things to force her to divide the family property.

Da Bao chimed in, "My dad's right. Why should the third branch get all the benefits over the years? The second branch should get the same in the future."

Old Mrs. Chen was furious. "You're all dreaming! You want me to pay for your children's education? Does Erbao even have the brains for that? You're threatening me with dividing the family property. You're all incredibly disrespectful!"

Old Man Chen retorted irritably, "How could you even think of that? The third son doesn't want to work in the fields because he wants to study. You want to refuse to work in the fields? You might as well fly to the moon!"

Chen Zhancai shook his head and sneered, "Second brother, don't you even know if Erbao has the brain? All he does is eat all day, what can he do?"

Erbao nestled in Sun's arms, listening to what his grandparents and third uncle were saying, his teeth grinding in anger, a fierce glint flashing in his eyes.

I vowed in my heart to change and become a smart person like Chen Han, so that I wouldn't be easily deceived by others.

Chen Zhanliang snorted coldly, "Since you don't agree, then there's nothing more to say. This family must be divided."

After saying that, he turned to Wu Baoan and said, "Village head, I'd like to trouble you to be a witness today and help me write a document for the division of the family property."

Wu Baoan nodded and looked at Old Lady Chen, "Sister-in-law, how do you think this family should be divided?"

"Security guard, what do you mean by this? Is this how a village head should act?"

Old Mrs. Chen was unhappy and started to argue unreasonably.

"Everyone advises reconciliation rather than separation, but why do you seem to be hoping for them to split up? Are you just envious and jealous because our family is doing well?"

"Alright, sister-in-law, stop being unreasonable. You know better than anyone what happened. As the saying goes, 'A tree fears having its roots damaged, and a person fears having their heart broken. A tree cannot survive if its roots are damaged; a heart cannot be warmed again if it is broken.'"

Things that are forced will not go smoothly, and people who are forced to stay will not last long. You should understand the reasoning behind this. Since Zhanliang proposed to divide the family property, it must have been after careful consideration and not just a momentary impulse.

Now that things have come to this, just be decisive. Otherwise, dragging things out will only hurt our relationship. Besides, living separately is better for everyone. If you don't agree, living together in the future will just be awkward.

"No, I disagree. Stop lecturing me with your life philosophies. I can't afford to lose face like that."

Grandma Chen kept shaking her head; she didn't want to do farm work, wash clothes, cook, or take care of the whole family.

Wu Baoan frowned and shook his head, remaining silent.

Chen Zhanliang's anger flared up, and he snapped, "Fine, if you don't agree, then so be it. Even if we don't separate, we're moving out and we'll never get involved with you again."

When Old Mrs. Chen heard this, she was so angry that she almost died. "You unfilial son, get out of here right now! I don't have a son like you."

"Zhanliang, what are you trying to do?!" Old Man Chen knew how important Chen Zhanliang was to the family, and he stamped his feet anxiously. "What your parents did today was wrong, but you can't be so heartless as to separate the family!"
