Xu Qingqing, carrying two fish, took in the expressions of the two men. Unlike yesterday, Zhang Dajun was no longer as carefree as he had been yesterday. Instead, he was unusually calm, with only his eyes remaining unchanged.
The logistics department has already purchased the ingredients: pork, chicken, and the two fish that Xu Qingqing caught. They are all laid out on the table.
The two of them took their respective ingredients and busied themselves with their tasks.
Xu Qingqing watched for a while, but found it really uninteresting. She shrugged and turned to leave. During this time, she sent a letter to Secretary Ji of the Municipal Party Committee. She calculated the timing and left a few people here to keep watch in case anything unexpected happened that they didn't notice.
After mailing the letter and leaving the post office, Xu Qingqing felt a cool sensation on her nose. She raised her hand to touch it and found her fingertips damp. Looking up at the sky in confusion, she saw a large patch of dark clouds moving at a visible speed. Soon, the sky turned completely black, and streaks of lightning flashed intermittently within the clouds, a sight that sent chills down her spine.
A strong wind rose up, blowing up fine sand and dust from the ground. Pedestrians used their arms to shield themselves from the wind and sand as they struggled to get home before the heavy rain started.
Xu Qingqing righted the bicycle that had been blown over by the wind. The next second, a torrential downpour began. Helpless, she had no choice but to take shelter in the post office to check the weather. She wondered if the rain would stop anytime soon, and if it kept raining, it would be troublesome.
On the other side, Factory Director Li cursed the awful weather under his breath, wondering why it had to rain now of all times, and worried about Xu Qingqing's safety.
The comparison between Fan Guangshen and Zhang Dajun was staring at the scene. With time running out and the heavy rain still pouring down outside, Director Li sighed deeply. He had arranged for others to accompany him, but the outcome had already been decided, and this was merely a formality.
Inside the post office, Xu Qingqing waited from morning until afternoon. She was very distressed by the weather outside. The post office would close soon, and she would still have to go out anyway. She gritted her teeth and rushed into the heavy rain, then got on her bicycle.
Soon, raindrops the size of peas instantly soaked her clothes. Her vision was obstructed, and her speed decreased. So she gave up riding her bike and pushed it forward. Halfway there, the rain gradually subsided and eventually turned into a drizzle.
Xu Qingqing wanted to curse. The rain had stopped just when she was halfway there. She should have waited until the post office closed before leaving!
She walked forward, cursing and swearing. Just then, a car passed by behind her, splashing mud and water all over Xu Qingqing.
"Pah! Which little bastard is driving without paying attention? Are you blind? Don't you know there are people here? Watch out, you little turtle bastard!"
Xu Qingqing spat out the muddy water in her mouth, cursed at the car driving in front of her, and then picked up a small stone and threw it there in anger!
"Whoa!"
Situ Xing shouted excitedly, turning to his brother: "Brother! Brother! Brother, did you see that? Wasn't it fun driving just now? Did it feel like taking off?"
Situ Kong glanced at him indifferently from the back seat, then closed the documents in his hand: "Do your parents know you ran away from home?"
Situ Xing's smile froze, and he chuckled awkwardly, "Of course I know!"
Situ Kong understood perfectly well that this guy must have secretly run away to his place behind his parents' backs.
"I'll have someone inform Mom and Dad that you're here, and in a few days, you'll come back with me."
"No! I finally managed to get away from my parents, I don't want to go back. Brother, if you want to leave, then leave by yourself. I can manage on my own."
Situ Xing protested his brother's decision, saying that he had only just arrived and hadn't had enough fun yet. He needed to have his fill of fun before leaving, as he didn't know when he would be able to come out again.
Situ Kong rubbed his temples: "You can disagree, but when Mom and Dad come over, your fate will only be worse."
After that, no matter how much Situ Xing pretended to be pitiful, it was no use.
When Madam Situ was pregnant with Situ Xing, their rival bribed a servant in the household to cause her to give birth prematurely. This left Situ Xing physically weak and sickly, and even the renowned Dr. Du, known for his expertise, was helpless.
As a result, Situ Xing could only stay at home from childhood to adulthood. A few years ago, Mr. Du found a pill from somewhere. After Situ Xing took it, his health actually started to improve. The emotions that had been suppressed in the Situ family for a long time finally dissipated, and Situ Xing's personality also changed until he became the way he is now.
Situ Kong looked out the window, ignoring him. Seeing his brother's resolute attitude, Situ Xing pouted and secretly plotted how to escape his brother's gaze.
Through the reflection in the window, Situ Kong saw the expression on his silly younger brother's face. Anyone could tell what he was thinking; he didn't try to hide it at all.
Suddenly the car jolted, and the sound of a tire exploding came from outside. Situ Xing was dumbfounded: "Brother, it looks like the tire has burst."
Could it have been caused by him driving?
Situ Kong frowned and told him to stop the car, while he got out to check. Sure enough, the tire had blown out.
Behind her, Xu Qingqing rode her bike as fast as she could, finally catching up with the culprit and the car that started it all. With a cold face, she sped up and rushed in front of the other car. Just before she was about to crash into it, she slammed on the brakes, raised her muddy face, looked at the other car, and her eyes froze.
"Situ Kong!"
Situ Kong: "..."
Who is this person?
"You know me?"
Xu Qingqing laughed in anger, leaned forward and grabbed his collar, gritting her teeth: "Stop pretending with me. Wasn't the last lesson enough? Now you're spraying me with mud again. Are you doing this on purpose?"
Last time?
When Situ Kong carefully discerned Xu Qingqing from that muddy face, his eyes widened instantly: "It's you!"
