Since her grandson Lin Shuyan went missing, the old lady has been crying every day.
Qiao Ermei comforted the old lady: "Auntie, don't be sad. Shuyan will be found. If you cry like this, Brother Lin will also feel bad."
While offering words of comfort, he was secretly overjoyed. Serves that brat right for blocking his way; he hoped he'd never see him again.
She and Brother Lin's family had been neighbors since childhood. She had liked him since she was a child and was determined to marry him when she grew up, but some vixen came along and stole Brother Lin away.
She cried and made a scene, but she couldn't stop Brother Lin from making up his mind. She watched helplessly as that woman married the man she loved, and she resented that woman.
Fortunately, that woman deserved to have a difficult childbirth, but unfortunately, the child was lucky and didn't die with her.
As she grew up, he repeatedly opposed her and tried to prevent her from marrying into the Lin family.
The old lady felt even more sorry for her son when she thought of him, and she was filled with self-reproach.
Just then, the phone rang. The old lady answered it and heard from the other end that Lin Shuyan had been found and was at the police station. She immediately beamed with joy.
He hung up the phone and was about to leave.
When Qiao Ermei saw the old lady's reaction, her heart skipped a beat, and she had a bad feeling.
"Auntie, who called just now?"
"It's the police calling. They said they've found my Shuyan." The old lady turned back to explain to her and hurriedly walked out.
Qiao Ermei had a gloomy expression, but in just a moment, she regained her kind and amiable demeanor and went with the old lady.
Her hopes were shattered when she walked into the police station and saw that small, familiar figure.
As expected of Secretary Lin's mother, the old lady hugged Lin Shuyan tightly and began calling him her darling, tears streaming down her face.
Lin Shuyan patted the old lady's shoulder with her little hand: "Grandma, don't cry."
When Bo Jingran saw this scene, a soft spot in his heart was touched. When he was a child, his grandmother would often hug him and comfort him. His grandmother was the only person in the family who was truly good to him.
Unfortunately, his grandmother passed away when he was eight years old, leaving him alone in the darkness of the world.
Xu Qingqing nudged his arm: "Hey, what are you thinking about?"
His expressions can go from good to bad; even a chameleon isn't as good at it.
"I was just thinking about some things from my childhood, and that's what touched me."
Bo Jingran shook his head, unwilling to say more.
Seeing that he didn't say anything, Xu Qingqing didn't pursue the matter further, but just looked at the woman who came in with the old lady.
That's interesting!
He caught a glimpse of the woman's fleeting twist.
I just don't know what the relationship is between that woman and the little kid.
"Brother Lin!"
Qiao Ermei stepped forward and walked to Secretary Lin's side, giving him a gentle smile.
Turning to Xu Qingqing and the other person, he asked in confusion, "Who are these two?"
Xu Qingqing's eyes flashed, and she grinned at her.
Secretary Lin explained, "They are the benefactors who rescued Shuyan, the educated youth Bo and Xu."
Then he introduced Qiao Ermei to Xu Qingqing and the other girl.
"Qiao Ermei is my neighbor."
Qiao Ermei was practically spitting blood. Brother Lin's introduction described her as an outsider, which made her very sad and upset.
He spoke stiffly, "Yes, Brother Lin and I are childhood sweethearts. We're like family. Thank you for saving Shuyan."
Secretary Lin frowned, dissatisfied with Qiao Ermei's words. He and Qiao Ermei had hardly met; they were practically strangers.
He didn't have a good impression of Qiao Ermei; only his mother liked her.
"Qiao Ermei, I don't know you very well."
After being repeatedly humiliated by Secretary Lin, Qiao Ermei almost lost her gentle demeanor. Her eyes reddened, and she looked hurt by him.
Xu Qingqing winked at Bo Jingran, acting quite funny. Bo Jingran found it amusing and looked at her with doting eyes.
Seeing this, Xu Qingqing understood what was going on.
It's simply a case of childhood sweethearts being no match for someone who suddenly appears out of nowhere. Unfortunately, this childhood sweetheart is blind and can't see that Secretary Lin has no feelings for her.
This woman is quite good-looking and comes from a good family, so why does she insist on hanging herself on a tree that doesn't belong to her?
I don't understand, I really don't understand.
The old lady wiped away her tears and looked at the two of them kindly: "You must be Shuyan's benefactors. You are very handsome."
Xu Qingqing loved hearing the old lady's praise and nodded happily. Who doesn't like to hear others praise their beauty, unless that person has a problem?
"Grandma, you really know how to talk, I love listening to you."
Who doesn't like to hear others compliment their beauty, unless that person has a problem?
The old lady smiled, grabbed Xu Qingqing's hand and wouldn't let go, trying to pull her home, but Secretary Lin quickly stopped her.
"Mom, we still have some things to resolve. There are still more than a dozen children in the hospital who haven't found their parents. It's not too late to entertain them after we've resolved these matters."
"Why didn't you say so earlier!" The old lady glared at him.
Secretary Lin bowed his head and admitted his mistake. The old lady was embarrassed to talk about her son in front of others, and looked at Xu Qingqing with an apologetic expression.
"Look how anxious I am! Once you're done with your business, you must come to my house for a meal. This old woman wants to thank you for saving my Shuyan."
"No problem, no problem, we'll definitely go!"
Xu Qingqing nodded, her heart filled with joy. This was a chance to enjoy a free feast; how could she refuse? That would be ungrateful, and Xu Qingqing was not that kind of person.
The old lady liked her more and more.
Although her son wasn't as exceptionally handsome as that young man, he was still quite good-looking. It was just a pity that the girl was already taken; otherwise, she would have insisted that her son marry her.
The old lady pulled the young girl aside: "Let the men handle this. You stay here and chat with this old woman, okay?"
