Chapter 24 One Month

Although Director Li was curious about the relationship between Secretary Lin and the two men, he still carried out the instructions as arranged by Secretary Lin.

Xu Qingqing and her companion quickly adapted to the environment of the steel plant.

She instructed several experienced craftsmen to follow the instructions on her drawings precisely, without any errors.

As usual, Bo Jingran was reading books and looking at blueprints at the same time, keeping to himself.

Xu Qingqing was different. She spent her days either sleeping or eating, and occasionally she would go to check on the parts her master was making.

She was the most relaxed one.

And so it went, day after day, the same routine of going between three points.

soon.

The experienced craftsman polished the parts according to the blueprints, while she handed over the larger components to the welding master.

Once all the parts are finished, there are only a few days left in a month.

Xu Qingqing and Bo Jingran directed the assembly of the parts in an orderly manner, completing the task on the last day.

Secretary Lin arrived at the steel plant at the agreed time. Although Director Li had told him about it, he couldn't believe that Xu Qingqing and Bo Jingran had actually made a tractor without seeing it with his own eyes.

He clicked his tongue in amazement: "Is this the tractor you were betting with me about?"

Xu Qingqing yawned and pointed at the tractor, saying, "That's right, this is the tractor I was talking about."

She was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open. Seeing that Secretary Lin still looked unconvinced, she took the handle, inserted it into the small hole in the engine head, and shook it a few times. The tractor then started to puff out black smoke and make a sound.

Xu Qingqing sat down and started operating the tractor, driving it around the steel plant a few times. She also had Bo Jingran sit next to her and took him for a spin.

Secretary Lin also wanted to experience the tractor, so he sat in the back of the truck, and Director Li followed suit.

Xu Qingqing led the group to experience a different kind of local customs and atmosphere.

It's so good it's amazing!

While I'm at it, I'll pick up some furniture from the garbage station.

Secretary Lin and Factory Director Li remained silent, watching as this guy loaded things into the carriage like he was buying goods.

Seeing that Xu Qingqing was going to purchase goods from other places, he couldn't bear it anymore.

"Enough! I'm almost out of seats." Secretary Lin roared, his face dark.

Xu Qingqing, who was driving the tractor, didn't hear her: "What did you say? I didn't hear you. Speak louder."

"I've said enough! There's nowhere left to sit!"

"Ptooey, ptooey!" Secretary Lin spat out the sand in his mouth.

Xu Qingqing turned her head, her face covered with a cloth, only her eyes showing: "Okay."

It was intentional; she definitely did it on purpose.

Secretary Lin wanted to start cursing, but then he thought of the flying sand, so he had to give up and hold tightly to the railing in front of him.

People on the street looked at the tractor with great curiosity. It could not only haul things but also carry people. Some people who knew Director Li thought it was a new machine developed by the steel plant.

Once Xu Qingqing's initial excitement wore off, Bo Jingran took over driving. She sat next to him, wanting to chat with Secretary Lin, but he ignored her, his eyes almost closed.

Feeling bored, Xu Qingqing directed Bo Jingran to drive the tractor back.

As soon as the car stopped, she jumped out and, after Secretary Lin got out, eagerly pressed him about the bet.

Since he agreed to the bet, losing was losing, and Secretary Lin was very straightforward.

"I lost. This list belongs to you. I hope you can continue your efforts and create even more machines."

Xu Qingqing and Bo Jingran exchanged a glance. Bo Jingran smiled and assured Secretary Lin, "I will! This is my responsibility, and I will definitely not let this position down."

Secretary Lin was very satisfied with his attitude. He exchanged a few words with Director Li and left in a hurry, as he had already wasted too much of his time today.

Bo Jingran then followed Factory Director Li to complete the factory entry procedures and transferred his household registration to the city.

After completing the formalities and being assigned a dormitory, Xu Qingqing asked someone to move her things. The dormitory, which was only a dozen square meters, was immediately filled with these odds and ends. After tidying up all the things, the two of them finally relaxed and lay down on the bed.

This bed alone takes up a large portion of the space. She found it at the garbage dump, and it took a lot of persuasion from the old man before he finally agreed to it.

I don't know what kind of wood this bed is made of, but it has a pleasant fragrance.

Although Xu Qingqing didn't know what kind of wood it was, she knew it must be very valuable.

The next day arrived, and because only Bo Jingran had transferred to urban household registration, Xu Qingqing had to return to the production team to work, otherwise there would be no grain to distribute, and even if she had money, she might not be able to buy it.

Xu Qingqing didn't really care; it was just a pity that Bo Jingran wasn't cooking at home, but thinking about it, it wasn't a big deal.

Bo Jingran couldn't bear to part with his little wife. He had finally managed to win her over through relentless pursuit. What if they remained separated and she abandoned him? He knew Xu Qingqing was capable of doing such a thing.

After all, she's a heartless person.

"I can't bear to part with your wife. I'll miss you terribly if you're not by my side," Bo Jingran said, trying to persuade him to stay.

"Hmm~ You know what, I'll miss you too, and I'll miss the food you cook."

Bo Jingran looked delighted, automatically ignoring the second half of the sentence, his mind filled only with the thought, "I can't bear to part with you."

“But I can’t not go back. My household registration is still there. If the people in the educated youth office find out I’m not going back, they’ll come and cause me trouble.”

Xu Qingqing realized that if she didn't go back, someone among the educated youth would definitely report her, and there was also a female protagonist who was constantly retaliating against her.

Bo Jingran was disappointed, but he could only let Xu Qingqing leave. He would definitely not let her leave his side for so long when he found an opportunity.

Xu Qingqing reached out and touched his face, having taken advantage of him, and then, true to her wicked nature, abandoned him and ran away.

Bo Jingran stared intently at Xu Qingqing's departing figure, his brow twitching slightly before reverting to his usual aloof and unapproachable demeanor.

When Xu Qingqing returned to the production team, everyone noticed that she was the only one who had come back, and Bo Zhiqing was nowhere to be seen. They all asked Xu Qingqing about it out of curiosity.

"Xu Zhiqing, why are you the only one who came back? Where is Bo Zhiqing?"

"Yes, I haven't seen you all for a month. Why are you the only one who came back?"

Xu Qingqing: "He went to the city on business, while he stayed at the steel plant as a worker."

Everyone exclaimed in surprise, "My goodness, this is incredible!"

These educated youths only knew that they were in poor health and couldn't do heavy work, but who would have thought they would become workers.

When the educated youth heard this news, they were all incredulous, and their jealousy grew wildly. Why could he, who was in poor health, become a worker, but they couldn't?

Tao Wanzheng's eyes turned red with jealousy as he said, "There must be a secret behind this. How could a disabled person become a worker?"

“If you can’t speak properly, then shut up. We are all educated youth, and we should be happy for Comrade Bo that he has such a good opportunity.” Jiang Wei reprimanded him with a stern face.

Tao Wanzheng curled his lip. He didn't believe Jiang Wei could be so kind as to be happy for Bo Jingran. What was he pretending to be, this good-natured guy?
