Chapter 23 Bet

Xu Qingqing enjoyed a satisfying meal at the Lin family's house, praising the old lady's cooking skills. The old lady was delighted, as this was the first time someone had appreciated her cooking so much.

It's not that the old lady's cooking was bad, it's just that her tastes are very different from the locals'. The locals prefer milder flavors, so the old lady's cooking was a bit too strong, which they naturally couldn't accept.

Like the old lady, Xu Qingqing had a preference for certain things, so she naturally liked this meal.

After eating, Xu Qingqing and her companion had to say goodbye to the old lady and Secretary Lin. The old lady was a little reluctant to part with them, but she also knew that the two were educated youth sent to the countryside. If they didn't work, they wouldn't get work points and therefore wouldn't be able to get grain. After thinking about it, she decided to let them go.

“Son, don’t you have a list of jobs? I think this young lady is quite suitable.”

Xu Qingqing's eyes lit up upon hearing this; what a wonderful thing!

Secretary Lin frowned: "Mom, that job is not suitable for Xu Zhiqing. She has some ability in mechanical matters, and that position is reserved for an engineer."

Seeing that the old lady was unhappy, he thought for a moment and then said, "Besides this, I'll think of something else."

The old lady pointed at Bo Jingran and made her decision: "He's the one. This young man looks smart and is suited to be an engineer."

"Mom, can you please stop being ridiculous?"

Secretary Lin's face was cold and he disagreed.

At this moment, Bo Jingran stepped forward: "Secretary Lin, please give me a chance. I know that whatever I say is nonsense, but I want to try."

Bo Jingran's gaze was firm, and his expression remained unchanged in the face of Secretary Lin's powerful aura.

Although Secretary Lin admired the young man, he knew that becoming an engineer wasn't something he could just try, and he was about to refuse.

Xu Qingqing: "Secretary Lin, how about we make a bet?"

"What bet?" Secretary Lin frowned, his expression not very good.

Xu Qingqing smiled and said, "Let's bet on whether we can design a tractor within this month. If we can't deliver it after a month, then Secretary Lin can punish us. How about it?"

Secretary Lin was somewhat displeased with Xu Qingqing's boastful words, but under the old lady's strong insistence, he had no choice but to agree. He wanted to see if the two of them could bear the consequences a month later.

"Since Secretary Lin has agreed, then you should give us some conveniences this month and find a few steelworkers to help us, not newcomers, of course."

"We also need to prepare the tools and equipment we need. I will make a list of the materials and parts we need in a few days. I will ask Secretary Lin to inform the steel plant director to cooperate with us."

"..."

Xu Qingqing rattled off her demands, and Secretary Lin, with a long face, swallowed his anger and listened to her unreasonable requests.

"I will inform Director Li to prepare the materials you mentioned, and I will cooperate with you. I can prepare living supplies for you, but other requests are not possible."

She expects me to eat well every day, with meat at every meal. Does she think I'm here to enjoy a life of luxury? I didn't even want to refuse her.

Xu Qingqing was disappointed. Even this small request couldn't be fulfilled. Why was it so difficult for her to eat meat?

The old lady glared at Secretary Lin, then took Xu Qingqing's hand and said, "Girl, if you want to eat meat, come to this old woman's place, I guarantee you'll get some."

"Uh-huh!"

Xu Qingqing immediately put on a happy expression, inwardly giving the old lady a huge thumbs up.

After a warm and affectionate farewell to the old lady, I dragged Bo Jingran to the garbage dump to rummage for books, since that was the only place where we could find these kinds of books.

Bo Jingran: "Qingqing, what kind of tractor are you talking about?"

"Oh, this is it. One person can sit on it and plow the land, and the back carriage can be used to haul things. It's very convenient."

Xu Qingqing tried her best to explain the tractor to him, since she had never operated one before and only learned about it by playing Douyin (TikTok).

Bo Jingran was very interested in the tractor, and was amazed by how convenient it was. He kept pestering Xu Qingqing to tell him more.

Xu Qingqing could only tell him what she knew; she didn't know anything more specific and could only figure it out slowly.

She refused to believe that she, a motorcycle enthusiast, couldn't handle a tractor.

The two greeted the old man at the garbage station and began looking for books.

The garbage dump was a mess with all sorts of things. The two of them painstakingly rummaged through the clutter, putting all the books aside and some manuscripts aside, keeping anything useful in one place.

From initial chaos to gradual proficiency, the two moved faster and faster, taking a long time to find everything, including a manuscript about mechanical matters.

Bo Jingran was very excited when he saw this, and he treasured it in his arms.

Xu Qingqing noticed it was getting late. After weighing herself and paying the old man, she went inside. She didn't care that she wouldn't be able to get on the carriage in time, but Bo Jingran's health wasn't up to it yet.

Normally, I only do light work at work.

I finally managed to catch the oxcart at the last minute, and luckily there were still seats available. I squeezed in and it was still manageable.

As soon as they got home, Bo Jingran wanted to read a book, but Xu Qingqing grabbed him and pulled him towards the kitchen.

He's the only one in the family who can cook. If he doesn't cook, what will she eat? Will she starve?

Well, please ignore her terrible cooking skills.

After dinner, it was almost dark. Bo Jingran couldn't bear to read by candlelight, so he could only read during the day.

Xu Qingqing was fast asleep, not anxious at all. At worst, she would find a senior and experienced professor to help them.

Cheating isn't scary; what's scary is not having the guts to cheat.

Besides, how can this be considered cheating? It can only be considered assistance from a powerful figure.

She slept until dawn, then yawned as she got up and tidied herself up. She saw Bo Jingran sitting in the courtyard reading a book.

Bo Jingran didn't even look up: "There's porridge in the pot. You can eat it after you wash up."

Xu Qingqing gave an OK sign, finished washing up, and ate her porridge.

After finishing their meal, they voluntarily washed the dishes.

Then he took out paper and pen. Following his memory of what a tractor looked like, he first drew the entire exterior, then drew the tractor's structure section by section, and finally...

It's a part.

Xu Qingqing spent the whole morning drawing and finally finished it. She was grateful for her strong memory, which made it possible for her to draw so smoothly.

When it was time, Bo Jingran, having learned from yesterday's lesson, went to the kitchen to cook.

Xu Qingqing praised him.

This child is teachable!

After handing the blueprints to Bo Jingran for study, she left it at that and just waited to go to the steel factory the next day.

She briefly explained the situation to the brigade leader, took the certificate issued by the brigade leader and went back. On the way, she met a few educated youths who greeted her, but she ignored them.

She wasn't familiar with the educated youth, and there had even been some unpleasant incidents. Why would she bother with these people?

I got home and started packing some clothes, just waiting to go to the steel factory tomorrow.

Bo Jingran was still studying the blueprints, showing no reaction to anything from the outside world.

Xu Qingqing admired his focus. If she had had this patience and focus in her previous life, she might not have been known as the Seven Gods in the racing world. Instead, she would have been known as the Seven Bosses in the business world.

She's truly a talented person!
