Shuoyu and the others continued walking, following the old man's advice, taking the road without the devils. No one spoke along the way, including Milong, who always had the most trouble controlling his mouth. They didn't know how long they had been walking when Meng Fanle suddenly said something out of the blue.
"My parents are dead."
It was like dropping a huge rock on a calm lake, causing a lot of reactions and chatter as if they were standing on a moral high ground.
"What nonsense are you talking about? I don't know what sins your parents committed in their past lives to have a son like you!"
"That's right. It's annoying. Why don't you think about your parents?"
"Fanla is an orphan now, Fanla calls me daddy~"
Some wanted to take advantage of Fanla, some worried that he was losing his mind, and some felt sorry for his parents because they had a kid like him who liked to curse them.
They quickly forget things and move on to new things that can be used to make jokes.
"Fuck you! I'm telling the truth." Fanla looked at Silasila and other bastards and said seriously, looking at them with his eyes.
"You don't know my father. There's no way he could survive in a town that's been pacified. We wouldn't even be able to find his grave by then."
Meng Fanle tried his best to talk about how his father was a bad-tempered person. In his heart, his father was doomed to die. His mother had never had her own opinion and would not wait for him, so he really became an orphan now, the Meng family orphan.
Shuo Yu passed by him and spoke. He finally spoke after such a long time because Fanla's father was not dead. He looked at Fanla's face with green leaves stuck on it and pushed him on the back, asking him to catch up with the team.
"Your parents are living well, why are you annoying?"
Meng Fanle looked up at Banxianer in disbelief, with an expression of "absolutely impossible" in his eyes, and chased after Banxianer.
"No, you don't know him. He really couldn't survive. He would have attacked like an entire division of Japanese soldiers, swinging his cane. When Nanjing fell, he went on a hunger strike for three days!"
"He's not dead, and your mother isn't dead either."
Shuoyu was certain about what he said. Even though Fanla said a lot about who his father was, he was still alive.
"no……"
Fanla looked at Shuoyu's eyes and shut his mouth.
After walking for a long time but not too long, they finally arrived in Heshun.
A quiet and empty town. The quietness lies in the fact that it looks like a lifeless town with not many people. It is a bit like a staged photo shoot in a scenic spot. But this is indeed the enemy's defense zone. All the laborers in the town have been pulled to the Nantianmen and can never come back. The wave that Shuoyu let go before also fled into the deep mountains and old forests where elephants, wild monkeys, giant pythons and poisonous insects live, and never came out again.
When they entered, they only saw a Heshun citizen wearing a straw hat and holding a paint bucket, writing a slogan similar to "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" on the white wall. He was one of the few living people they had seen in such a long time.
Shuoyu and the others divided into several groups and began to take turns to cover each other as they entered Heshun. Silasila turned around and joked that Fanla was coming to visit his parents and asked Banxianer to protect him. Shuoyu glanced at the absent-minded Fanla, grabbed his collar and told him to catch up quickly and not to fall behind. He had been told that his parents were not dead, so why didn't he believe it?
Ever since he told this guy that his parents were not dead, he has been like this, gloomy and unhappy. He doesn't know what's wrong with him. Isn't it good enough that his parents are not dead? Does he really want to be an orphan?
The vanguard in front was Yao Ma, and Sang Menxing raised his gun to signal them to hurry up. No enemies were found in front. The only witness of Shuo Yu and his men was a thin old man who wrote on the wall with red paint. When they passed by him, Yao Ma and Bula raised their guns and told him to shut up and not shout.
The guy didn't really scream, but the red paint bucket in his hand fell out of his hand and spread to the ground. The eye-catching red color was particularly obvious on the gray stone bricks.
When Shuo Yu passed by him, he was careful not to step on the red paint. He did not look at the old man, but at the red slogan he had written on the wall.
It's so unrealistic.
He shook his head and hurried to catch up with Si La Si La's pace, but the guy next to him fell behind again and became the last one in the team.
The old man from Heshun, who was warned by the Death Star, took off the straw hat that covered his face, probably so that someone could see him more clearly. Shuoyu turned his head to look at Fanla who was in a daze. Just as he was about to grab his neck, Milong began to urge him, because they all knew that Heshun had been recruited, which meant that a Japanese monkey with excellent shooting skills might suddenly appear from somewhere in this town and aim at their heads.
"Meng, I'm so annoying, what the hell are you doing?"
As soon as Milong finished speaking, the old man in white robes proved his identity with a single sentence, causing Fanla, who was standing beside Shuoyu, to kneel weakly and fall to the ground.
It was the 31st year of the Republic of China. The Qing Dynasty was already a thing of the past, and it was even longer ago for Shuoyu. He looked at Fanla beside him kneeling down to the old man with a look of confusion on his face. He felt that this scene was full of absurdity.
"Le'er, why don't you come over to pay your respects?"
Damn it, this is actually the father that Meng Fanle mentioned who went on a hunger strike for three days because of the fall of Nanjing?
Shuo Yu looked at the other person in disbelief. Although he knew that Meng Fan's father was not dead, he did not expect that this man would change so quickly. The bottom line for a cultured person is to be quite flexible, right?
